Sparrow Pond Family Campground

We stayed at Sparrow Pond Family Campground for a special long-weekend to view the Total Solar Eclipse. Their normal season doesn’t open until later in April, but they opened for 5-days for people like us who wanted a good spot for the eclipse. Since the normal season hadn’t yet opened, not all amenities/facilities were open but they put on a lot of activities to make the stay fun. 

THINGS I LIKED: 

• Easy access to Lake Erie and Presque Isle State Park 

• Clean and well-maintained property with lots of activities 

• All of the RVs appeared well-maintained without trashy-looking seasonal sites 

• Nice campground with friendly camping neighbors 

• Friendly and responsive staff interactions 

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH: 

• The site was nice and in a great location with a view of the pond, but wasn’t level 

WOULD WE COME BACK? 

Absolutely, this is a nice place with plenty of things to see and do in the area 

HOW I CAME UP WITH MY STAR RATING:

★★★★★ everything was perfect with no room for improvement

★★★★ this is a great place with one or more minor flaws

★★★ average in all ways— not great, not horrible

★★ major issues or poorly maintained, we wouldn’t likely come back

★ a terrible place in my opinion and I’d never return

Pleasant stay, paid through dyrt(aka campspot) so could not reserve a spot without paying extra. Checkin was all done remotely so no issues on rate change. Spots are VERY close together(think sitting next to your neighbors sewage pipe) despite the fact it was off season, owners packed everyone into a single location.. Most around us where very long term with many having permanent structures, but very quiet. The view was spectacular. Would definately not stay at peak due to the sheer number of people they can cram in. Did not use any amenities. Would have rated much higher if sites were not so close together.

Sparrows ponds Campground is very nice with level gravel sites with grass area and fire ring with a grate for cooking. The campground is very well maintained and the bathrooms and showers are very clean. The staff is very friendly. The campground store has a few items available for your camper, some cool souvenirs and a little bit of groceries and items like shampoo, garbage bags...ect. There’s a little arcade in the campground store also. We will definitely stay again in the future.

Prety clean, mostly new campers and rvs. Plenty of things for kids to do heated pool, 1:00 check out with ability to check out at 5pm for a small fee.

We stayed here because it was fairly close to Presque Isle and the price was very reasonable for the area. Overall, the campground was not as wooded as I would have liked. However, the people there were incredibly nice and the campground was clean and well maintained. From our site, we had a beautiful view of the pond. It was a good family campground, just not a lot to do on site as far as we could tell. However, I'm sure if you're in that area, your goal is to find a nice place to stay while visiting Lake Erie, anyway.

We stayed here just to go to a near by water park so we didnt get to do much at the campground but from what we seen it was clean and friendly ppl
