A Lot of Camping Sites at this State Part

There are a lot of camping sites for tents at this location. Quite a few lean-tos to rest . Restrooms with coin operated showers. Every site has a picnic table.

Primitive camping with a great host!

I came up here with my dog for a solo camping trip for a couple of days to get away! Rich the host is super nice and answered any questions I had about staying/getting there. I had the whole camp ground to myself so that was even better. It is definitely off the beaten path but we'll worth it if your just trying to escape a little bit. But Verizon does get service. There are some nearby trails that are within 15 minutes of the camp ground which is also a plus. No need to bring Fire wood as there is a ton all around you. You can also buy from the host as well. There was a decent portapotty on the camp ground which is very nice to have. This was just what we needed. We really loved our stay and cant wait to go back! Thank you Rich!

A Shell of Its Former Self

Highlights of the trip included a somewhat secluded site by the river, pavilion tater tots and the pool. This campground was once thriving with activities and events and a real sense of community. Now, it seems hollow and unkept. Bathrooms and Showers were filthy.

    Nothing special

The good: large, spacious, private sites that are all fairly level and all about the same size. Beautiful pool with 2 water slides, arcade, and cafe that wasn’t opened during the week but will be starting July 1. Clean facilities. Store was fairly well stocked with things you might’ve forgot to pack. Staff was nice.
The not so good: lots of rules and charges for every little thing, our walkie talkies picked up on staff conversations and we heard they wanted to charge a family a guest fee for a delivery driver if he was on site more than 15 minutes, Showers cost money at $0.25 per 4 minutes, no wifi at all and poor cell reception, pool is NOT heated as they state all over their website, trash is not picked up, no activities or anything to do other than swim. Far from downtown Lake George and no trolley service, charges for early arrival regardless of whether sites is available or not and you can’t sit in their parking arrival area and wait. I would not choose this campground again. It wasn’t horrible. There is so much more they could offer for their resort prices that they charge. Drove through Lake George RV resort on Rt. 149 and I think I’d choose that campground next time. Check out the boats you ride on Lake George! The Adirondack is dog friendly! Get the coupon at the arcade for $3 off the $25 cost. Frontier Town gift shop on Rt 9 with the big teepee out front had great selection of stuff for good prices. Northway Brewing was fun with good beer!

    Woodford State Park Campground

    beautiful campground

This is a very nice campground.

We stayed in site 64 which is set back more than 2 car lengths from the road and is pretty well surrounded with trees so it feels very private and secluded. Could see one neighboring site slightly through the trees but that neighboring site was lower down so it still felt private. It was a good sized site. Not sure if we could hear any noise from route 9 or not. If we did, it was very faint and did not disturb us.

Site 64 is across the road from a water spigot and the path to the bathrooms/showers. It was very convenient and we didn't feel like we were right by the bathrooms (no compromise to our site's privacy, no noise, etc). Our site wasn't waterfront but wasn't far from path down to reservoir.

The bathrooms are BEAUTIFUL! the nicest I've seen yet. Very clean, well stocked with toilet paper and soap- convenient shelf and hooks for toiletries/towels.

The showers are beautiful as well. There are 3 individual shower rooms that lock. Each one has a bench/chair and hooks to hang towels etc. There is also a small shelf in the actual shower for soap.

NEW for 2024: the showers do not accept quarters anymore. You need to buy tokens from the campground. It is 1 token for 5 minutes and it is 50 cents a token. The issue we encountered was that apparently people still try to put in quarters and this jams the machine. Therefore, when we put in our tokens, though we thought everything worked fine, in fact the machine did not register the tokens and we were left taking ice cold showers. When we told the office in the morning, they explained the issue and said that had we called them they could have fixed the shower. They are going to try to put some guard over the slot to prevent quarters from going in. Hopefully, this is implemented soon. They were very apologetic and gave us new tokens to replace the ones we had lost on cold showers.

The office sells wood for $6 a bundle and you can get free kindling from their leftover cuttings/sweepings. They also sell ice and some "merch"/"swag".

We really enjoyed our stay here.

    Convenient Location

We spent 2 days here on site M2. It was full hookups. The site pad was packed gravel and slightly unlevel. We have a 27 foot camper and was slightly difficult to maneuver into the site. If your camper sits low, chances are it will hit the road on some of the inclines. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The pool was up to 8ft deep, so watch your children at all times! Propane was available, as well as a small grocery.

Great Sites and Pool, lacking in other areas

Just returned from a week trip with two other families. We were all very excited to go here, it's been on our radar for a couple years now. Overall I would rate our stay there a 3.8 out of 5.

Pro's - site size and privacy. For a private campground the sites are large and well spaced out. We stayed on a premium site which is larger than their standard.

Cleanliness - all parts of the park were very cleaning. Bath houses were well kept.

The Pool- this is their best feature and is basis of most of their marketing material. Kids absolutely loved it and we spent several days poolside.

Cons- lack of activities, outside of the swimming pool there was not much going on during the day. For the price of this place we expected a packed schedule of activities. They had some stuff, but mostly just one thing in the morning and then something in the evening.

Not very kid bike friendly- Maybe the loop we were in just wasn't the best for kids. The hill was steep along with a loose gravel surface made it tough for younger riders to enjoy themselves.

Office staff could use a few courses in customer service. The last thing a customer that just spent $2500- for a week of camping with extras, (plus camping with two other families) wants to hear is a regurgitation of policy over a single $20- wristband for the pool. Ultimately, a manger did rectify our concern as the pool closed due to thunder about 30 min after the pass was purchased. We asked to get the pass for the next day instead and it was huge issue. It wasn't even about the money, more a matter of principle and how the request was handled by the staff there. This incident alone put a sour taste in our mouth.

In the end it was an overall decent trip, although l will likely not return to a Moose Hillock location again.

    beautiful location

This park is wonderful for families with kids. -We have an infant and a preschooler. The site and facilities are clean. It was very helpful to have a lean-to during a very rainy weekend. The lake and beach is lovely, clean, and the water is warm and clear. We love how there was a concession stand, a park, and picnic areas.

Local area: Because of the amount of rain, we decided to explore Manchester and bought some gear at Mountain Goat -rain pants for our hike. We ate at the Road Runner which was fantastic. Our hike was about 10 minutes out from manchester at Lyle Falls. Highly recommend 2.5 miles up to a gorgeous waterfall.

Additionally, we stopped by Honeypie in Jamaica for burgers and shakes!

    Top pick for dog lovers!

We have camped at dozens of campgrounds & Lake George RV park is our top pick. Great sites, customer service & the best part is the dog park. This is a must visit park if you have dogs. Dog park is a 10 & like the entire park, it is immaculately kept.

Lake George Islands Long Island Group

Spectacular views, not so much the sites

First off let me state this was an amazing trip. Renting a boat and taking it on an adventure towards an island was something new. I was not expecting Campsites to be amazing, maybe just plotted and Maintained alittle. When we got there we checked in and were told by the worker "this is my home and I expect you to treat it with respect."  I can only imagine what this person's actual home looked like after dealing with these Campsites.

There were no leveled space whatsoever (except for one platform per site...but where would a second tent go? On the horrible ground beside it. These sites have not been maintained in probably 20 years at least. The wooden porta pottys or whatever you call them were grotesque.

And the raccoon situation...was bad. We were literally bombarded with a group of raccoons each night. It was bad.

We had sites 3-7 and they were all the same. Honestly I will never go back here just because of how horrible the sites were.

    Moreau Lake State Park Campground

    Beautiful State Park

The road to our campsite was paved and in good shape but there were a few tight spots because of the trees that make it tricky for a big rig (Loop A seems to be the best for big-rigs). Great thing about this park is the hiking trails and lake so you don’t even have to leave to the park to enjoy great outdoor recreation. We found it enjoyable just to hang out in the park rather than trying to find things to do in the area. After hiking and paddling, we loved relaxing out at our campsite with a campfire.

Our campsite was spacious but required some maneuvering to avoid scraping trees with our RV. Campsites are spacious, shady, and had good separation between the neighboring sites which we enjoyed. Generators are allowed but not too many people were using them. The few other campers around that used them were mindful of quiet hours. Since it was still a little cool and our windows were closed and we never heard anyone’s generator. The park was not very crowded when we were there, but we can imagine it could get very busy and noisy in the busy summer season. The beach area seems to be a draw for people so the summer camping season is probably packed. The snack bar and gift/supplies shop at the sandy beach area were not open as we were there late in the season. There is also a nice playground for kids to enjoy.

This is dry camping so there are no hook-ups but there are restrooms and shower. Both were clean but the shower fluctuated between lukewarm, hot, and warm during my shower. Oh well, the shower felt good after our active days. There are two pavilions you can rent which are nice if big groups want to gather. Take note that only two pets are allowed per campsite, so plan accordingly if you are a pet owner.

Access is fairly easy, just off I-87, and there are plenty of signs directing you which way to go. Saratoga Springs and Lake George are nearby if you want to explore. We recommend visiting the National Horse Racing Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, if you have time. We would definitely stay here again.

    Lake George RV Park

    ★★★★★ Getaway to the Adirondacks

Lake George RV Park may be the greatest campground we’ve stayed at yet!

Located about 2-miles from the New York State Thruway(I-87), this park is ideally situated for a Lake George area vacation. We spent 6-days in early-August and it really wasn’t enough.

The staff treated us so nicely and the array of resort-level amenities are beautifully-maintained and clean. They run a free trolley within the campground and to the local retail outlets. The park is so large, you’ll be happy to see that red trolley coming around to take you to and from your campsite and the swimming pools(plural), game room, theater which offers nightly entertainment, paddle boats, cafe, dog park, and much more. In addition, a local trolley service operates an hourly ride to and from Lake George Village. The cost is just$1 per person per trip(free for young kids) and discounted tickets are available for sale at the campground. The many opportunities for activities and entertainment are top-notch. Not just“campground-nice,” but really nice! And everything they offer is included at no extra cost(except food, of course). Check out their mobile app for updates to activities, a trolley tracker(fun+ helpful!), and more.

The camp store was well-stocked with food and drinks, souvenirs, and RV/camping supplies.

Our pull-thru site(#109) was level and the full hookups all worked fine. Like most of the park, our site was nicely wooded for shade, but none of the trees were in the way of our motor home. Each site had its own trash can and they collected garbage daily. That’s nice and convenient.

Lake George RV Park is such a great place to stay that I hate to point out anything negative, but it’s why we rely on reviews. Two negatives to report. The site was a nice size and beautiful in so many ways except for the sandy dirt. With how charming everything is, I was surprised they didn’t at least put down gravel let alone concrete or asphalt in the sites. It was impossible to keep the dirt and sand out of our RV— and we tried. It also rained a few times during our stay which made it even worse. The other negative is their nonexistent wi-fi. It’s 2022, and we rely on wi-fi for connectivity to the office along with the ability to watch tv using streaming services(especially on a rainy night). The size of this place probably makes it difficult to provide good coverage, but it would be a huge improvement if they could figure it out.

It’s obvious that this is a family-operated campground because they offer so many niceties that corporate owners have done away with elsewhere. I positively can not say enough about how great this campground is. It’s a tremendous place and we can’t wait to go back!

    THINGS I LIKED:

    • Clean and meticulously maintained property and facilities.

    • So many activities and entertainment options(at no extra cost!).

    • Proximity to Lake George Village.

    THINGS I’D CHANGE:

    • Cover the sites with gravel, concrete, or asphalt. The sandy dirt is too messy.
    • Install reasonable wi-fi service.

    Big Rig Friendly

This is a difficult review. Huge park and kid friendly but very expensive for what you get. Level sites and very large. We arrived 18 minutes early. Had to pay $100 for early arrival!!! I ask I if could sit in the parking lot for 18 minutes, clerk advised I would have to leave the property!!! You don’t just drive around town with a 45’ motor coach with a toad. We will not be back. Not for us.

    Lake George Riverview Campground

No trees. Dirty pool. Dust/Mud fest.

The website is intentionally vague on how cleared out this campsite is. A few trees along the river then just dust or if it rains it’s mud. Throw down some mulch! This is an RV park. Tent campers beware.

    Memorial weekend

Well managed campround with some daily sites on Schroon River. The private bathrooms were an unexpected surprise. Rsch bathroom was large with toilet, sink and shower! With many campers in RVs the bathroom were never busy. The sites were flat and a nice size for that area. A Family oriented campground and everyone was very respectful of the posted quiet time. We had two good size tents and a Pop up camper on two side by side sites. There was still room for some games and the river access and beach was great. We will be back next year.
