Hunter Lake Campgrounds

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Quiet nights and direct lake access define the experience at Hunter Lake Campgrounds in Parksville, New York. The campground sits on the water and draws a mix of tent campers and RV travelers, with full hookups available including electric, water, and sewer connections. Sites range in price from $10 to $50 per night, and the property includes showers, drinking water, and a dump station. Cell service may be limited here, so plan accordingly if you need connectivity.

The campground runs on old-school logistics. Reservations are made by phone, and payment is handled by mailed check or money order. Most sites are held by seasonal campers, which means transient availability can be limited, particularly on weekdays. Calling ahead is not optional. Reviewers who navigated the process successfully found the owners approachable and the grounds well-maintained, with William J F. noting the campground was "very quiet place at night" and that "bathrooms and campground were very clean also."

Campers who prefer a low-key, family-oriented atmosphere with lake access tend to get the most out of this property. Dogs are welcome. Nearby alternatives include The Blueberry Patch to the north and Covered Bridge Campsite to the northeast, both worth considering if Hunter Lake's limited transient availability doesn't align with your schedule. Those exploring camping near Parksville will find the area has several options within a short drive. Call early in the season, as seasonal site holders take up much of the capacity before summer begins.

Many mentioned the clean, quiet lakeside setting with wonderful family-oriented owners. Some visitors expressed disappointment with outdated reservation methods requiring mailed checks and limited phone responsiveness.

Favorite place

Been camping here for years. It's a quiet well kept campground right on a lake. Great family friendly campground and the owners are the best. Highly recommend

Great place

Only place still run like a family campground should be run. Wonderful owners. All campers were kind. Very quiet place at night. I stayed 4 days and it was great. Yes I did have to mail a check for my reservation. Most of the sites are seasonal and there are very nice tent sites as well. Bathrooms and campground were very clean also. I will be returning to this great place.

Would be great...if we could actually make a reservation.

The place LOOKS really nice, but they don't seem to want anyone to actually visit.

The only way to make a reservation is by calling them (and then apparently you have to mail them a check or money order to reserve your spot!?!), but I have called three times now across the span of a week and a half and haven't received any kind of response.

It is also a bit confusing, since they only seem to talk about "weekend" or "seasonal" campers...since I can't get ahold of anyone, I have to assume that they don't allow for camping during the week unless you pay for a "seasonal" membership?  Seems like an odd, financially damaging business policy, but again, noone seems to be interested in correcting my train of thought, so I'm left with my assumptions.

Again, the place looks really nice, and my family was excited to go, but the fact that their methods of taking reservations and payments is still dragging 40 years behind the times (and they don't seem to be interested in picking up the phone) has forced me to move on to another, more professionally run location.
