Mountain views and highway access define this elevated RV park positioned at 7,500 feet near the Colorado border. Raton Pass Camp & Cafe sits atop a hill with expansive vistas across the surrounding landscape, though campers also contend with Interstate 25 running nearby. The facility operates seasonally from March through November and accommodates RVs up to 60 feet with full hookups.
Sites are arranged on level gravel pads with picnic tables, though privacy remains limited between spaces. Lee D. notes that "in high season, there is no separation/privacy between sites" and mentions hearing highway noise from the view sites. During slower periods, the campground maintains a quieter atmosphere with fewer occupied sites.
The bathhouse requires a code for entry and consistently receives positive marks for cleanliness. Laundry facilities charge $1 per load for both washing and drying. WiFi reaches throughout the property, though cell service can be spotty on the approach road. C. W. reported "Verizon 6.5 down / 1.6 up" speeds and noted that "you'll lose some reception on the way up (coming from Colorado)."
Short hiking trails with benches wind around the property, offering additional viewpoints. The on-site cafe operates seasonally but has been closed during recent visits. Gates close at dark, preventing late arrivals. Staff typically escort guests to their assigned sites upon arrival. For extended regional exploration, campers can access places to camp near Raton and several state park campgrounds including Soda Pocket Campground — Sugarite Canyon State Park five miles east.
Book ahead during peak travel months as this location serves as a popular overnight stop for travelers heading to Colorado.

Directions
Located at the summit of Raton Pass, where the I-25 crosses the state line between New Mexico and Colorado. We're on the east side of the highway at Exit 460. When arriving from Colorado, start looking for Exit 460 (NM) shortly after Exit 2 (CO). Exit 460 is shared with the NM Port of Entry (Weigh Station) so follow the signs for all commercial vehicles. Once you exit the Interstate the exit ramp will "Y", bear right and follow the camp signs up and over the highway to the east side. At the Stop sign turn right, go about 100 yards, turn left and you'll be in our driveway. When arriving from New Mexico, Exit 460 is fairly easy to spot just at the top of the pass. Once you exit, you'll see our entrance on the right.
