EV Long is located near Las Vegas, New Mexico, surrounded by a landscape of rolling hills and sparse vegetation. The area experiences temperatures ranging from 20°F in winter to 85°F in summer. Campers can explore the nearby Pecos National Historical Park and the Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge.

Situated right next to the Gallinas Creek among big Ponderosa Pines and mixed conifers EV Long CG provides a rustict type camping experience. Uses: tent and RV camping, picnicking, hiking and fishing. Facilities: 3 vault toilets, tables, fire rings, grills, and trash bins. A total of 14 camping units exist (first come basis). No hook-ups, dumpstations, or showers available. Special Instructions: Users are encouraged to recycle and pack out trash. In Las Vegas, NM, take State Rt. 65 north 15.2 miles to Johnson Mesa sign (at end of pavement). Turn left at sign and go 0.1 miles to campground on right.
