I-80 Lakeside Campground, formerly known as Lakeside Camping, reopened under new owners in May 2016. Seated on a clean private lake, our campground features 126 sites, many with full water, sewer, and electric (30 or 50 amp), as well as a community shower house, laundry facilities, and dump station. Several sites are pull-through and can accommodate any size RV. We also have areas set aside for primitive and tent camping. A small convenience store is located on-site, and includes items such as snacks, drinks, fishing supplies, camping items, ice, and a limited supply of grocery items. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer WiFi or cable.

In addition to being an overnight campground, I-80 Lakeside is also available for day use. A $5 per person Day Use Pass allows access to the south and east beaches of the property during office hours. Activities available with a Day Use Pass include fishing (catch and release only), swimming, sand volleyball, a walking trail, picnic areas, and use of campfire pits. We also have non-motorized watercraft for rent from our store, including kayaks, paddle boats, a canoe, and rowboats. These can be rented by the 1/2 hour, hourly, or daily (during office hours). Only I-80 Lakeside watercraft is allowed on the lake.

The well-stocked lake houses a multitude of fish. Species include Crappie, Bass, Walleye, Perch, Catfish, and others. No permit is needed. Fishing is catch and release only.

We look forward to seeing you at I-80 Lakeside Campground!

Nice lakeside sites but local party spot

Pulled in around 6pm to nice quiet lakeside park/campground w/just 3 others, but since dark at least 4 non-campers have trolled the grounds and then raced down the campground roads. Also within earshot of event facility and can hear bad rock band. Probably leaving (11pm).

      Great Park-like CG

Great little RV park in a park-like setting. Gravel roads with relatively level gravel sites. Shared services. Lots of big trees. Long pull-through site to leave the truck and TT attached. Cross the little covered bridge into Lake Helen Rec Area for a good walkabout. Visit downtown Gothenburg to see the Pony Express station. We liked it and would stay here again.

      Perfect place with necessary amenities

We love that lots of small towns in this area offer camping at ball fields, etc. There are bathrooms and showers! The hot water in ladies does work, just adjust NOT to hottest setting. Only ones camping. Trains were close and often, but you somehow get used to it.

      Confusing

The sites are very confusing. We had to move to a different site because we could not understand how/where to park or hook up to water and electricity. There was nobody around at all; just a phone number which we called and texted and got no response back. The bathrooms, while clean, were old and a bit worn. It’s not a great campground but it’s acceptable for overnight

Convenient, free spot! With Verizon reception .

Arrived pretty late into the night, but it was easy to find and no one else was there. Camped by the pond in my tent. One could bring a small to medium length trailer in here with ease.

Ok for an overnight off I-80

The best thing about this campground is that it’s shady and a ways off of the interstate. Otherwise it’s old and tired, with small sites and odd shared hookups between spaces. (Eg. - our water hookup was Ammon a pole right next to our door and the picnic table. The bathrooms were old but clean. There was a cute covered bridge on a trail to the main park which was the best thing about it. There were only a few other campers there, but I cannot imagine what it would be like if it was full. We were there during a boil water order for the entire town, and we appreciated that they emailed us about it so we knew to bring our own water and not use the campground’s.

      Convenient and free

There are about 10 spots around the pond. We took one of the3  pull through right next to I-80. Plenty of space, level, shade and if you just look at the lake: quit a nice view. The noise from I-80 ist always there (about 200') but it's constant and was ok for us (rather than trains every 30 minutes). There's a lot of trash but that's to be expected in a area like this. We cleand up some and it was ok for a night

Cute camp with highway white noise

Cute little park off the highway. 2 sites are available. I wouldn't haul a trailer into the park, but it's perfect for a small rv or tent camping. Allot of highway noise, but it's good white noise to fall asleep after you get used to it.

      Union Pacific State Rec Area

      Primitive but quaint

It is more of a fishing area for the locals than anything but it is open and you can camp. There are no marked sites. A local told me when they come here they just park in the grass anywhere and pay the fee. There is a vault toilet and "modern restrooms" (thr vault toilet is cleaner) but no showers as The Dyrt describes. There is a water sticker at the brick building on your left as you enter. You'll get a little interstate noise and distant train horns, but nothing that earplugs cannot fix. Nice place to pull off and sleep for the nights without utilities.

      Cuzn Eddyz Campground

      Easy and No Frills

I have come to realize that my wife and I do not need much from the campground itself for an overnight stay, but….

Cuzn Eddyz is perfect for an overnight stay. There is a gas station sitting right next to the campground so fuel and snacks are no problem.

FHU, what else do you need?

I do not use many, but the bathhouse was very clean and comfortable. I did not look for the laundry.

Maybe WiFi? We ended up using our phone hotspot and had plenty of cell phone reception.

**thanks for the reply, it was probably a lack of patience. I tried to connect my tv but it did not seem to want to. Probably my fault. You have a nice campground.

The Wind Turbin Crews use this campground. No big deal, makes perfect sense. There were folks outside and we briefly spoke to a few. Very friendly.

If i travel through the area again I will stay on this property if it works.

      Great place to stay

The staff are super helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the site we were in had no shade, but that is no reflection on the campgrounds. The sites are a little close to one another and there are travelers coming and going all hours, but overall, it was a nice park.

      Good for a day

It's a small park with a pond that you can fish at. We were the only campers in for the day and honestly probably wouldn't be great for tents. There are 3 pull outs that you can put in an RV or camper but not much else to this place.

      Buffalo Bill Campground

Nice small campground next Buffalo Bill Ranch Historic Site. 50/30 amp available. Water is confusing. Water at site 6 and 20. Also water available at tent site at end of campground. Water spigot is located at the back of both sites and tent site so confused how everyone else can get water. Just plan ahead. Only one other camper was here so we parked in site 6. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Verizon was 5G.

      Lovely Area to Camp

I stayed at the Main camp ground with a great lake view on site 76. Sites 77-86 are pull through and the rest are back in for RV. There are also tent sites near the water. There are bathrooms, showers and electric (50/30amp), there are no water hook-ups. The dump station is currently closed (April 2024) due to construction. The camp grounds are close together but they have planted bushes between them to create privacy. I cant speak on the bathroom or showers as the are closed since it is off season.

Easy to get to, right off the highway

Beautiful little pond for fishing if you have a kayak. The bank is surrounded by cattails with a nice ramp and only two wheelchair accessible peers to fish from.

The highway is about a half mile away and the noise does not stop. That being said, if I’m ever back this way, I would stay here without a second thought.
