Cody City Park Campground

Cody City Park — lots of available spaces, easy to register, and $15 is great. Pro: bathrooms are good enough; con: if you get a spot close to the bathroom, the streetlights are on you all night. This is a great park, with beautiful North Platte River adjacent with fireflies and great skies. Bonus: trains! Central to North Platte places like the public library, restaurants, famous train yard, and more. But it is off the main drag, so there will be street noise.

This campsite is in the way back - you’ll think you missed it but just keep going. Prices are $15/night in 2026. Amazing river to play in, disc golf course, rides, zoo, this park kind of has it all. I stayed 2 nights with no issue. Each pad is covered by a tree - makes solar charging/starlink difficult. Clean enough bathrooms, potable water on site. No electric hookups. LOTS of parking pads.

The campground is in a popular city park. Seems a lot of locals like to come into the campsites and park and hang out. 

No hook-ups. There's water and a dump station--I didn't use either. The park is full of families, teenagers, people fishing and enjoying the North Platte river that runs right by the campground. It's a great place for people watching.

Sadly, this campground is right next to a city zoo-ish situation. The animals are in too small containment. A huge beautiful elk kept trying to get cool in the pond--looked like he would be much happier at higher elevation. And two bison is a sad looking muddy pen that was way too small for these nomadic creatures. You could also hear the peacocks all night. 

Based on an earlier review, I was worried about sprinklers coming on, but I didn't hear them in the night. Also, felt totally safe here. No drug activity that I noticed. Lots of families.

Very cute park with unsupported level cement pads with a dump and potable water. The fee is now $15, but a deal since the Walmart here is FULL of large rigs running.

Do not stay here I mean DO NOT!!! Worst camping experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. The traffic is thru the park constantly at night. There’s a truck with blue headlights that parks there all night with cars approaching getting out and going up to him. Here’s your schedule when your staying- Arrive and park appears well kept

9pm- Cars start to drive thru and park at inconspicuous locations and people get out to approach the truck with blue headlights to buy until morning.

1am- sprinklers come on and soak you until 4

2am-starts the burnout competition in the park

5am- you get woken up by geese and they don’t quite down the rest of the day.

Beautiful spots about 50 yards from the lake. Everything was well maintained. No hookups. There is one pull through site. For $15, you can't ask for much more.

Our first night camping in 8 months. And the sprinklers came on at 1am and didn’t turn off til 4am. And it rained all night sprinklers shouldn’t have been on. We were soaked all night. We are freezing cold. And the traffic is crap

Basic facilities, but at $10 you can’t complain. Self registration no need to book. No shower but if the swimming pool in the park is open you can shower there. Not far from grocery stores and eateries. Great for a short and cheap stay

Woke up this morning to our tents basically turning into makeshift floatation devices. Overnight, due to the rain, our spot essentially turned into a small pond. After gathering the courage to leave the tent and wade through ankle deep waters, there was a big elk (I believe) hanging out right across from us munching on the hay bales. Campground itself seemed well cared for and was nice. Lots of traffic through at night. Overall, not a terrible experience!

Very clean, $10 a night, enough space for animals to run around and not get hurt!!

North end of N. Platte, right on River. Rate has increased to $10.00/night. Only negative is no hookups. You must be self contained. Grounds are immaculate. Relatively Quiet, some noise closer to street. Some sites will accommodate up to 50’, most are for 25’. Toilets, but no showers.

Stayed here a few times . Travel this road quite often. Natural stopover. Usually is open. I have a 26 ft RV and fits in nicely. Shaded sites. Next to River. Bathrooms available.

Just off of Highway 20. Great overnight stop on our way to Wyoming! Didn’t notice any traffic noise. Sites are grassy and is next to City Park. There are bathrooms but we never found the showers.

I wouldn't use this campground as a destination, but it is a great stopover location on a roadtrip. We stopped here on the way to South Dakota. 

There is a zoo-ish feel with various animals in cages that you can feed around the lake. A large playground for the kids as well as a community pool and tennis courts. It looks like someone put a campground in a city park honestly. 

But the sites are large enough for a tent or RV and it is right on the Platte so it would be perfect for boaters on a stopover too. Only $5 per site makes a great cheap stop.

Really pretty park on the North Platte River, right out side of town.  Spacious sites, large enough for our 40' motorhome with some trees for shade.  No hook-ups but there is a rest room which we didn't use.  May get busy on the weekends but we were there on a Monday and just a few sites were being used.  Quite the deal for $5/night.

Great place to bring kids! We have driven through North Platte several times and had always wanted to camp here. We finally got the chance. There are several camping sites for $5 no hookups there is a sewage dump station. There are several animals in cages around including peacocks, lamas, donkeys, Buffalo, dear and elk. It’s fun to walk around and look at the animals. There are also several day use areas, and a couple of play grounds. Also in the Cody park area is a small amusement park perfect for kids 2ish-8ish. Our 4 kids in that age range all loved it. The rides were affordable and fun for the youngins.

Most cities in Nebraska have these type of site. Grass and sand but has 30 amp electric. Has a dump station along with restrooms and showers. Good place to stay one night. Need to check out the grocery store next to the site.
