I-80 Lakeside Campground, formerly known as Lakeside Camping, reopened under new owners in May 2016. Seated on a clean private lake, our campground features 126 sites, many with full water, sewer, and electric (30 or 50 amp), as well as a community shower house, laundry facilities, and dump station. Several sites are pull-through and can accommodate any size RV. We also have areas set aside for primitive and tent camping. A small convenience store is located on-site, and includes items such as snacks, drinks, fishing supplies, camping items, ice, and a limited supply of grocery items. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer WiFi or cable.

In addition to being an overnight campground, I-80 Lakeside is also available for day use. A $5 per person Day Use Pass allows access to the south and east beaches of the property during office hours. Activities available with a Day Use Pass include fishing (catch and release only), swimming, sand volleyball, a walking trail, picnic areas, and use of campfire pits. We also have non-motorized watercraft for rent from our store, including kayaks, paddle boats, a canoe, and rowboats. These can be rented by the 1/2 hour, hourly, or daily (during office hours). Only I-80 Lakeside watercraft is allowed on the lake.

The well-stocked lake houses a multitude of fish. Species include Crappie, Bass, Walleye, Perch, Catfish, and others. No permit is needed. Fishing is catch and release only.

We look forward to seeing you at I-80 Lakeside Campground!

        Very Happy

What a neat little place right off 80. Clean bathrooms. Laundry. A dried up creak right alongside the campground. Perfect for walking your dog. Well shaded. Everything is dirt but not it’s really nice here. I rolled in pretty late and the person working here drove me to my site and held the flashlight to help me set up. Very nice man. Definitely coming back

        Perfect stop thru location

I was heading to Colorado in 2022 and decided to give this place a try. I was greeted by the owner and his partner, and given a nice pull through site for my RV and toad. Period kind of rustic, but clean maintained. The owners talked about the plans. I had to make renovations to this former KOA camp ground regardless I will keep this on my list. Crews and may be a day or two extra in the future.

Very Nice Hosts, A Bit Scruffy

Just a one night stopover, actual campsites are gravel/dirt, gravel roads. Not bad for a one nighter, looks like lots of long-term residents. Had a spot on the private lake which was great for my Labrador Retriever. Caught a few small bass as well.

Bathrooms were rough and ***hot*** as hell. Giving it 3 stars. Average, wouldn't stay long term but worked well for the night.

        Nice for overnight!

Arrived 7pm without a reservation. Clear list of available sites, amenities and prices. Grassy gravel pad, long enough to stay hooked up and wide enough to have slides out without feeling like you’re in your neighbor’s site . Full hookups worked fine. Restrooms older but clean. Soap dispensers and towels were empty. The campground layout was meandering so it didn’t feel like a parking lot. Some sites right next to the river, some away. Where we were the freeway noise was not so bad. Would stay here again.

        Ok stop, on a lakeside

Pretty close to I80 but a So next to a lake and the Platte. Sites are gravel, pretty level. Washrooms are adequate, clean but a little worn. No WiFi or cable but some broadcast TV.

Campground is now Blue Heron Campground

Off of I-80 at Exit 211 is Blue Heron Campground. The new owners took possession in 2021 and it is no longer a KOA. There are 40 RV/Trailer sites that vary from pull thru to back in. Of those sites 17 are Full Hookups and the rest are water/electric. Full runs &45/ night, W/E run $39-42. The campground has laundry, playground, restrooms(which are very clean) and there’s cute lamps scattered throughout. The areas are nice and kept up. There are also 3 cabins with swings, air, benches and fire pit which run $55 a night. This is a good place to stop and can hardly hear the interstate traffic. There are also really nice areas for tents that have picnic tables and fire pits with benches and there are water spigots scattered

        Open year round

We arrived here on March 1st and it was very silent, just one other camper. Spots are clean, squirrels running around, tables and firepits.

Of course this time of year the restrooms were closed.

        Some traffic passing by.

        Late season camping

We were the only ones there and we got in late. Check in (drop box) is right on the way in. Easy access to electrical. Pretty lake to sit by and have morning coffee. Only downside was that it isn't too far off the road so traffic can be heard late at night.

        Beautiful sites next to lake

One of my favorite campgrounds by far. There were plenty of sites during my stay in October, and the site I stayed at was right next to the lake. In the morning, the trees were beautifully lined along the campsites. At night, it’s a little windy there but tolerable with the RTT I was staying in. Campground is clean with electric hookups, tables, and fire pits.

Change in ownership 7/2021; good things are planned !

Steve bought this site from KOA in July and is working on upgrades. It is very clean and all the amenities work, but is in need of paint and TLC. Check power at yr site before unpacking as some spots are locked. They plan to upgrade electrical but other things need doing first.

Lovely spot under the trees next to a nature preserve. Yes you can hear the freeway; no it didn’t bother us.

        Convenient stop for one night.

We stopped here for one night on our tent camping trip across the U.S. The tent sites were well spaced, and the bathroom was much closer than it appeared on the map on their website. Very friendly staff. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and the water pressure for the shower was outstanding. There’s a lot of road noise since it’s right by I-80, but for one night it was no big deal.

Electricity failed at site P which was a nice site further away from highway but hosts called electrician to get it back on. They got a long extension cord so we could get our slide and levelers back in an moved us to site 52 which was fine. Bathrooms and showers good.

        Cool spot

There are three campgrounds, one near the entrance off the state road and two on either side of the inlet of the reservoir. Again, the Dyrt coordinates were incorrect. The Inlet park for RV’s only is on the other side of the lake from the state park with the swimming area.

The spots are close together but are lakeside, what a place to wake up! The hosts were friendly and the baths and bathrooms were nice enough.

        Lots of fishing!

        Favorite Place in Nebraska

As avid outdoor lovers, fishermen and bow hunters this is our favorite place to be! The scenery is beautiful year round, wildlife is abundant and the park is so well kept and clean. The camp hosts, rangers, biologists are wonderful, friendly people! We love that the majority of the electrical sites are walk-up. Note: summertime is definitely busy time so plan ahead of you are staying through the weekend. Week day stays are much calmer and if you go before/after peak busy season, you will only have to share the entire park with a small handful of campers

        Quiet and Convenient

This friendly campground sits on The reservoir, and is about a 5 minute drive to Johnson Lake. We payed for a full access site, and had no leveling issues at all. Most sites have fire pits, and tables. We see other campers with pets, so we assume they are allowed. They sell bait for local fishing that is a 2 minute walk on a well mowed trail away. Our kids enjoyed the quiet and loved being turned loose to enjoy the surroundings.

        Great Stopover for I-80 Travelers

We just stopped for the night to get some rest on our road trip. Without a reservation, we were able to show up and get a spot with ALL our wants 50A—water—pull through site. The lady who helped me on the phone and during check in was super kind and helpful. Campgrounds were pretty clean, though a little tight. There was a store here, kayak rentals, a small lake, and playground. This was such a convenient stop and at a great price.

We’re in a 30’ bumper pull and there were bigger rigs in this campground as well.

        Lovely spot

We really enjoyed this campground but the RV sites are definitely popular on the weekends. We arrived at about 4 on a Saturday in June. All of the sites were first-come-first-served and the only thing available were the tent sites with no hook ups. We stayed by the kayak put-in and it was lovely—green, shaded and peaceful, near the water spigot, clean bathrooms and pay showers. There’s a decent amount of space between each site, though no bushes or anything to create privacy. There were also some tent sites available right near the water that we didn’t realize were open until we had already settled in. The lake is lovely and there are huge trees all over. There’s only one RV dump site which made for a huge line in the morning.

        Quiet Campground!

Nice quiet campground! We tent camped, it was a nice grassy spot! Our camp site had a picnic table and a fire ring! We chose one on the end with trees on one side so more privacy! There were very few other campers around! Kayak access down the road from our spot! Bathrooms were nice! You have to pay for showers! They had some free firewood available which was really nice to help our fire last longer!

        Convenient, right off I-80

We stayed here during the off-season, all of the facilities were closed.  The sites are level and easy to pull into.  There is a nice little lake/pond where we saw a lot of birds.  One thing to watch out for, are the little burrs that stick to your shoes.  You'll hear your shoes clicking on the floor of the RV if you don't pick them out.
