    Blue Heron Campground

Campground is now Blue Heron Campground

Off of I-80 at Exit 211 is Blue Heron Campground. The new owners took possession in 2021 and it is no longer a KOA. There are 40 RV/Trailer sites that vary from pull thru to back in. Of those sites 17 are Full Hookups and the rest are water/electric. Full runs &45/ night, W/E run $39-42. The campground has laundry, playground, restrooms(which are very clean) and there’s cute lamps scattered throughout. The areas are nice and kept up. There are also 3 cabins with swings, air, benches and fire pit which run $55 a night. This is a good place to stop and can hardly hear the interstate traffic. There are also really nice areas for tents that have picnic tables and fire pits with benches and there are water spigots scattered

    I-80 Lakeside Campground

    Lakeside campground off I-80

Nestled off I-80 in Nebraska off the 179 exit to North Platte you will find a decent campground. This campground has 89 Rv sites along with multiple tent sites which have little yellow fish signs to mark them. The Rv sites are gravel, level, have picnic benches and a fire ring. There is a small fishing/swimming lake that is catch and release only. Some fish you might catch are Crappie, Bass, Catfish, Walleye and others. They have a neat incentive where if you catch a tagged fish you win a boat rental. The boat rentals available are kayaks, paddle oats, and rowboats for rent at reasonable prices at the office. There is also a small 2 unenclosed dog walk, a playground, and a walking trail. Also available are horse shoes and volleyball. The restrooms are fairly clean. The showers in the women’s are being redone and are looking nice. There is a laundry facility on site. The office/store has camping essentials and firewood for purchase. The owners took possession and reopened in May of 2016. This campground is in short walking distance from the platte River-across the street. All and all it is a convenient and decent place to stop along I-80 as you are traveling.

    I-80 Lakeside Campground

    Great little retreat

Very nice park just off I-80. There's a nice little lake that you can swim and fish (catch and release only), or rent a kayak or little boat. Full hookups available, with many pull through spots as well. Each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. In the middle of the grounds is a children's playground and 2 small fenced dog runs. Nice bathroom and shower facilities, and a nice store for many of your needs. And if you need more, there's 2 truck stops (travel plazas) across the interstate. Maybe the only drawback would be interstate noise. I highly recommend.

    Quiet Campground!

Nice quiet campground! We tent camped, it was a nice grassy spot! Our camp site had a picnic table and a fire ring! We chose one on the end with trees on one side so more privacy! There were very few other campers around! Kayak access down the road from our spot! Bathrooms were nice! You have to pay for showers! They had some free firewood available which was really nice to help our fire last longer!

    Nice stay

A nice campground located on a beautiful lake. Several first come first serve sites that were wooded. A welcome find on a Saturday night without reservation. Nice bathrooms and showers, fire pit and picnic table. Conveniently located not far off I 80. Dump station and clean water are just before getting into the park on the left side. A well managed and maintained park.

    I-80 Lakeside Campground

    Small lake off Interstate

We have stayed at this campground twice when we are traveling through. They do have boat rentals, kayaks, playground, small dog park, and a small store with few items. Overall nice- gravel pull through sites - maintained overall pretty good. Smaller sites. I might give it 3.5 stars but having the lake with rentals and a small store on site was nice— so 4 stars. Would recommend.

    Elwood Resort and Campground

    Quiet and Convenient

This friendly campground sits on The reservoir, and is about a 5 minute drive to Johnson Lake. We payed for a full access site, and had no leveling issues at all. Most sites have fire pits, and tables. We see other campers with pets, so we assume they are allowed. They sell bait for local fishing that is a 2 minute walk on a well mowed trail away. Our kids enjoyed the quiet and loved being turned loose to enjoy the surroundings.

    Beautiful sites next to lake

One of my favorite campgrounds by far. There were plenty of sites during my stay in October, and the site I stayed at was right next to the lake. In the morning, the trees were beautifully lined along the campsites. At night, it’s a little windy there but tolerable with the RTT I was staying in. Campground is clean with electric hookups, tables, and fire pits.

Seasonal considerations: Off-season cabin rentals may have limited amenities. "We stayed here during the off-season, all of the facilities were closed. There is a nice little lake/pond where we saw a lot of birds," advises Aaron from I-80 Lakeside Campground.
