    Big Arm, Montana

Located in Big Arm, Montana, Wild Horse RV Resort is a newer RV park that has individual owners and the lots are larger than a typical site. We own Lot 1 and it is FRONT ROW! No camper will block your views. This lot is also slightly larger than the others at about 60' x 100' and can accommodate large recreational vehicles. Wild Horse RV is a wonderful community of owners who love being near Flathead Lake, Glacier National Park and all things Montana! Big Arm Marina is just across HWY 93 and you can bring your boat and rent a slip (if there is availability), have dinner and just enjoy amazing sunsets on the lake. From our wonderful camp spot, you will have a beautiful view of Flathead Lake and the surrounding mountains. It is just so peaceful!

*************NO wood fires are permitted due to fire restrictions. Small GAS fires are ok. *******

Our site layout is designed as a Pull-In Site for Motorcoaches. Hookups are on the LEFT side if you pull in... 5th Wheels and trailers will also work. You can pull in and disconnect and then you are allowed to pull your truck through the middle of the aisle between the lots. However, once you reconnect, you will need to back your rig out unless no one is in Lot 2 and then you can pull through.

    ********

Our site features wonderful lake views and we have full hook-ups (water, sewer & 50 amp electricity) for your convenience . We have a gazebo with a gas-fire patio table - If you use the gas fire patio table, I do ask that you fill it before you leave so the next guest can use it. Dogs are allowed but need to be leashed and due to fire restrictions no wood fires are allowed (only gas). Also, HOA rules state no tents.

** ***There is a community area with a grill and pickle ball.*** **

HOA rules stipulate that the minimum stay is 7-nights. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to grant shorter stays. Month to Month is also available. Also, if you are military (active, retired, vet), teacher or first responder let me know - we are happy to offer a 10% discount for your hard work! No tents are permitted - HOA rules

***PLEASE *clean up the lot upon departure - please don't leave food or gunk on the tables or trash around the site. Be kind and leave it nice for the next guest. This includes picking up any pet messes. :) I thank you for your consideration. **

    ******************************

    Polson: 14 miles

    Kalispell: 39 miles

Glacier National Park: 74 miles (remember you need a pass for entrance past Apgar)

    Lake Mary Ronan: 19 miles

    *****

This lot is available through the winter - just inquire and we can work out special rates.

***Please remember the lots are individually owned. Please be respectful of the HOA rules and other owners. We love dogs and they are permitted. But please, keep them leashed and always be so kind to clean up their messes. ***

***There is a small community center with a grill and a pickle ball court you are welcome to use. However, there is no gym, pool or laundry on site. ***

Beautiful campsites next to the lake!

The campsites are big and spacious. Even though the sites are open, they still feel private thanks to the natural layout and surrounding trees. The lake is incredibly clear and beautiful. One of the highlights of our stay was the stunning sunrise over the water—waking up to those colors reflecting off the lake was absolutely breathtaking. There was only a few campers when we were there. Warning: there are bears in the area. We didn't see any, but saw some evidence of them.

Great Camping Spot - Buys end of Season

Great camping spot. We camped over on a Friday night at the end of September. Free because it was out of the normal season, but because it was the last sliver of summer, it definitely filled up. However, they only had the first loop open (group and second loop of sites were closed). Being out of normal season, trash was all locked up but not a big deal.

Lake was spectacular and beautiful, would recommend!

        Only game in town

The Missoula KOA appears to be the only game in town.  I guess that is why they can charge a premium price and leave you with two choices, take it or leave it.  Only problem is we could not find another place so we "took it".

This is a big and busy campground.  Lots of good things about it.  For example, for a premium price, you can get a site with your own private dog run.  Two older but OKay hot tubs and a heated swimming pool.  Bicycle and other stuff rental.  Everything from tent sites, cabins, small full hook-up sites to large spacious premium sites.  Despite some of the bad reviews, the staff was very friendly to us and, because of no parking for our Tesla, they were able to move us to a better site.  WARNING:  You are not allowed to plug in any electric car.  We were warned that if we plugged in our Tesla, we would be fined and asked to leave the park immediately.  The Tesla supercharger was less than two miles away so no problem for us.  Wifi was great.  34 mbs.  AT&T was 2 bars 5G.

The BAD:  Very busy.  Many days in summer they are 100 per cent booked.  Make reservations early and be specific what you need.  Be ready to pay a premium price, even for tent camping.  Camp is old but well kept.  Bathrooms are clean but very old style and shower stalls are very small and not handicapped friendly.  Surrounded by lots of older double-wide's.  Some well kept and some not so well kept.  Not friendly to electric cars (see warning above).  Several times during our stay they paused their golf cart in front of our Tesla,  I assume making sure we did not plug in.

        Sweet spot by the creek

Old lady was sweet to us, I saw the reviews about her being not so sweet but she was nice and got us in last minute. The gentleman brought us a whole tractor full of wood and was nice as well. Trees were down like other reviews stated, they mentioned they had a massive storm. Not something I feel they should be judged for, they were concerned about my kids and asked them to keep away from the left side because of that.

Reserved this deamy site right on the water. Tent 1 is closest to parking but has the most traffic going by to the other sites.

Pit toilet nearby and a quick drive to flushable toilets. Showers available with tokens from the camphost ($3 for 6 minutes) but camphost weren't around when I was looking so no personal experience here.

        Walk in

Got a walk in site when I showed up in the afternoon. All that was left was an RV site and they let me tent there. Even though I wasn't on the water, still got a water view! Pit toilet bathroom was close by, and sometimes the smell wafted over when the wind changed.

SUP, kayak rentals on water, reasonably priced. The beach was rocky and perfect!

In the morning, I spotted a black bear on a hill. Follow bear protocol well.

This is a cute little camp site. We were right next to the river which was amazing. But some of the sites are for permanent residents, which feels weird. They have a laundry room, showers and bathrooms. Not the cleanest. But do the trick. A little road noisy. But loved the attention to the flowers and the grounds.

        Okay, with caveats

First off, I think people are afraid to leave honest reviews. Probably due to this Park's location. I will be as objective as possible.

We found this on Dyrt, thankfully, as we were driving 1300 miles home from Glacier. This had openings, and was on Flathead Lake. Huge win there.

We pull up, and the girl working there gave us both a brief look that we both thought was a bit strange. We didnt think much of it. There were several cameras at the entrance. We paid $35 and went to our lake front campsite. We set up quick, and went to use the bathroom. My girlfriend said there was blood all over the floor in hers. The men's had 3 adolescents hanging out in there. They weren't particularly friendly, but not rude either. They were charging their phones. There were bugs everywhere, including the showers. I wouldnt use the shower here. I was about to leave the bathroom, and a crying child came in. I asked what happened and he wouldn't tell me.

We got back to our site, and my girlfriend started crying. This was a unique experience, as we do a fair bit of camping, and haven't experienced anything like this. As this is happening, a 30-something man comes around the corner flipping some sort of ninja stick around. He wasnt threatening, but that added to the already somewhat bizarre experience. He ended making 4 or 5 laps around, but was ultimately minding his own business.

If you are not Native American, you will most likely be a minority here. This might bother some people. I personally dont care, and even enjoy being exposed to other cultures.

TL;DR: This has the feel of a public park, on a reservation, with campsites. Affordable and available lakefront camping. I'd camp here again, but I may not count on super restful sleep. It wouldn't be my first option, and I'd feel better having something to protect myself.

Hostile. Attacked me in front of my kids

This is Steve at the Missoula KOA. I have seen him being unnecessarily aggressive and yelling at clueless campers before. So when he aggressively chased and swerved in front of my brothers car WITH my kids in it for accused speeding I stopped and watched from a distance. When I heard him starting to yell I intervened. You don’t yell at, towards, or around my kids. I told him to back off and he refused. He only got angrier and louder. Granted, I yelled back but we eventually parted ways. I returned to my RV to get out of wet clothes and immediately went to the office looking for a manager. They said he has been notified and should be calling me soon. On my way back to my site I saw Steve pull up to my RV where my Wife, kids, and brother were. He came there looking for a fight and I could hear him yelling at my wife and brother from down the street. That’s when I STARTING YELLING AT HIM TO GET AWAY. I told him multiple times(not on video) to go to the office and get a manager. He only got angrier. Unknown to me at the time, he reached and attempted to pull out his gun multiple times. If it wasn’t for his loose pants catching the gun and co-worker showing up, I’d be dead. The manager never called. He never had the intention to call and smooth things over to make us feel at ease for the night. After two hours I called the office. They said“he should call soon”. I needed action taken that night so I had to file charges with the police. My poor kids were absolutely terrified at this point. I didn’t hear from the manager until the next morning when they kicked me out for yelling at their employee. All they did was defend him. Even after they reviewed video with law enforcement. Good thing I was already leaving. My kids were so scared and did not feel safe there. Do yourself a favor and go through the reviews. This isn’t an isolated incident.

The good, Good phone service for Verizon, great view of the lake,

The bad, Had people walking by telling us to get off there land, bathrooms are very dirty, very expensive for the type of camp spots available.

Good for a quick stop, but not an extended stay.

        Fine For a Stop-off Night

Definitely not a spot that caters to our normal priorities as it's more of a family hangout or long term place, as expected being an RV park. But it worked well as a stop-off spot for laundry, showers, electric recharge, and water fill before continuing on our way the next morning. We were worried it'd be loud being so close to the freeway, but surprisingly couldn't hear it at all.

Facilities: Laundry, showers that feel like home more than any other we've been to, mini-golf, playground, convenience store

Cell Service: As expected plenty of service being so close to Missoula

Starlink: All sites are open to the sky

Closed - but new options available

The dispersed campground near the start of Johnsrud Rd (Mile Marker 28 on Hwy 200) has been removed. However, 2 new campgrounds have been added, and the entire road is now paved making RV accessibility much easier.

The three campgrounds are as follows:

        Thibodeau Campground- 5 mi in

Corrick River Bend - 11 mi in

        Ninemile Prarie- 13 mi. in

        Perfect stay!!!!

Very much enjoyed my stay and my hosts (super sweet couple from PA!). Impeccable grounds, enjoyed my neighbors, so convenient to everything in Polson, and hope to return soon.

        Clean and Green

We did not have reservations so got a last spot by dumpsters, water and power, no sewer. Dumping at their station in am, she came zooming down to ask if we needed help, said we had stayed in #1 but were charged $10 to dump
