Three miles off the main highway circling Flathead Lake, a paved road winds past lakeside homes, orchards, and occasional produce stands before arriving at Finley Point Unit. The campground divides into two distinct zones: an upper loop with paved, level sites that overlook the water through a scattering of pines, and a lower loop where RV and tent sites sit closer to the lake, the boat slips, and a rocky beach. The layout matters when choosing a site. Lower loop spots give direct water access but sit closer together and draw more foot traffic from boaters and day users throughout the afternoon.
Campers in the upper loop trade proximity for a bit more breathing room. Site 5, for example, sits on an overlook with sightlines toward the lake framed by a few pines, and reviewers consistently note the paved pads are easy to back a trailer into. Even sites not directly on the water tend to hold a lake view. As Sara A. noted, "even though I wasn't on the water, still got a water view." The campground runs open from April 1 through November 15, and a stop at a nearby u-pick cherry farm in summer is worth factoring into the trip.
Water access is the main draw here. SUP and kayak rentals are available on-site at reasonable prices, and boat-in camping is an option, though reviewers clarify there is no tent space beside the slips. Fishing is the listed activity, and Flathead Lake provides the backdrop for most of what happens at this campground. Black bear sightings have been noted in the area, so standard bear protocol applies. Campers heading to Blue Bay Campground to the northeast will find similar lake access along that stretch.
Reservations are available and worth securing, especially for lower loop sites in July and August, which fill fast and can see reserved spots occupied by day users before check-in. Walk-in sites do turn over, but availability is not guaranteed. Amenities include full hookups (electric, water, sewer) for RVs up to 35 feet, pit toilets, communal water spigots, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are no showers. The campground is pet-friendly, with dog waste stations stocked throughout the grounds. Nightly rates run $6 to $54 depending on site type and residency status.
For camping near Polson with direct lake access and a functioning boat launch, Finley Point is one of the more established options in the area. The camp hosts receive consistent mention in reviews for being approachable and helpful. If the lower loop feels too busy, a short walk along the shoreline past the designated beach area leads to a quieter stretch of water.
