The Best Car Camping Near Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri

Three miles from Ellington MO.  Trails for miles for ATVs, OHVs, and Horses. Ride to Clearwater Lake Conservation Area for thousands of acres to ride or hike. Also 5 miles from Current River Conservation. area and 12 miles from the Black River for kayaking, canoeing, floating and fishing. Stalls available for your horses or you can tie out. Bring your boat or rent one at Clearwater Lake. They also offer pontoons and jet skies.  Blue Springs, Johnson Shut Inns, and Elephant Rock State Park are just a few of the places to go in the area.

## Overview

The rolling, forested landscape around Alley Spring is where two of America's most beautiful spring-fed rivers combine to make up the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.   
  
As the first national park area to protect a wild river system, visitors are able to enjoy various water activities as well as hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.

## Recreation

Canoeing, tubing, swimming and fishing are popular activities on the vast waterways in the region, with over 130 miles of water trails. Canoe and kayak rentals and outfitters can be found nearby.  
  
A short walk from the campground leads to a popular swimming area on the Jacks Fork River, a crystal clear and spring fed waterway that's cool and refreshing on a hot summer day.   
  
Several interpretive trails with educational exhibits meander nearby. Other hiking trails include the Alley Overlook Trail, Chubb Hollow Trail, Ozark Trail, Cave Spring Trail and Big Springs Trail.

## Facilities

Open year-round, this campground has flush toilets and shower facilities available April 15 through October 15. Roads and parking spurs are paved.   
  
Ranger-led campfire programs are offered in the campground amphitheater during the summer months.

Known for its caves, springs, sinkholes and losing streams, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways has over 300 identified caves within its boundaries. They range in size from a rock overhang to almost seven miles of identified passages. Eight caves, including an open sinkhole, have been designated as outstanding natural features.   
  
The Ozark forest is mostly White oak and Shortleaf pine, Missouri's only native pine species. Along the rivers, Sycamore, Cottonwood, River birch and maples are common. Redbud and Dogwood are abundant, putting on a spectacular show during most spring months.

As the first national park area to protect a wild river system, visitors have plenty of scenic water activities to enjoy as well as hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Recreation The Current River flows past the campground, offering excellent canoeing, tubing, swimming and fishing. Over 130 miles of waterways exist within the park. Canoe and kayak rentals and outfitters can be found nearby. The historic Pulltite Cabin is across the river from the campground. The only way to see the cabin is by boat or by wading across the river. The cabin is next to scenic Pulltite Spring, for which the campground is named. Several miles of hiking and horseback riding trails crisscross the region, include the Alley Overlook Trail, Chubb Hollow Trail, Ozark Trail, Cave Spring Trail and Big Springs Trail. Round Spring Campground - Ozark National Scenic Riverways

## Overview

Located deep in the interior forests of Shannon County, Logger's Lake Campground is situated along the southeast shore of Logger's Lake. Constructed in 1942, this spring-fed lake is maintained as a fishery and is a destination for anglers looking for non-motorized boating and quiet bank fishing.

## Recreation

Logger's Lake offers good fishing for large-mouth bass, sunfish and channel catfish. The Day Use area has a small swim beach, boat ramp, picnic tables, and grills.

## Facilities

The campground area is located on the southeast lakeshore and all sites have a view of the lake, with only light vegetation in between. There are 14 sites with each site offering a table, fire ring, tent pad, and some offer lantern posts. Drinking water and vault toilets are centrally located. There are two boat ramps, and a barrier-free fishing pier. Group camping is available at Oak Knoll.

## Natural Features

The campground is located on 22-acre, spring-fed Logger's Lake. A variety of colorful vegetation, clear creeks and springs provide a picturesque setting.

Campsites are equipped with electric and water hook ups, tables, grills. Campground is divided up into Groups and Family areas. There are modern showers and restrooms. We have full RV hookups with water, electric and sewer. Come join us soon. Please note that there are no cabins at the Jacks Fork Campground.

Jacks Fork Store is located right on the Jacks Fork River. You will find groceries, snacks, ice, cold beverages, souvenirs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, crafts, maps and sundries at the store.
