      Beautiful lake views

Stayed on the A loop and had a beautiful view of the lake! Nice to be close to bathrooms and have a gorgeous view. Friendly staff, great price, and campsites have a fire pit with a grill, and a picnic table. We’ll be back!

      Watkins Mill State Park Campground

      Great Camping

Stayed here for three nights. All spots have plenty of shade when we walked around. Shower house and bathrooms were clean and nice. Lots of things to do such as boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming. Fire pits were even nice with an attached grill grate.

      Great Overnight Campsite

Stayed here for one night after driving down from Nebraska. Great place to set up for the night, clean bathrooms, a nice fire pit, and plenty of room to set up a tarp for the rain. Not too much privacy as there’s not very many trees around and the sites are close together but otherwise a great campground!

      Trailside RV Park

      Decent

Good: New management seems friendly and helpful. Laundry facilities acceptable. ($1.25 to wash)
Propane fill on site. Pool and restrooms closed during my stay, appear nice enough.

Bad: Noise. Mostly from the highway, but also trains and air traffic. Situated between two neighborhoods, the highway, and an RV dealership. Did I mention noise? WiFi is laughable.

      Phone/internet service is low average.

Overall, adequate. Nothing too bad (except the noise), and nothing to rave about.

      Watkins Mill State Park Campground

      Nicely shaded spots.

We stayed for two days in spot #92. Many of the spots have a good amount of room, but there are some that looked tricky to level. 92 was fine for leveling. The only downside is that the spots, while larger, are fairly open (in the area around 92). I prefer a spot that has a tucked away fire pit and table, but this worked OK for us. Bathhouses were clean and there is a great 3.75 mile paved loop around the lake if you have dogs that enjoy long walks.

      Great get away

Camp ground was very clean and the staff is very helpful! Drive you right to the campsite so no need to have to look for it. Pizza delivery a d wood was a nice touch. Laundry room was nice and easy to use. Everything is very close in the campground. Close to downtown

      Lake Jacomo - Fleming Park

      Quick Questival Camp

We are camping here while doing the Cotopaxi Questival Adventure Race. It's a very nice setting in a Grove of trees atop a hill. Both electric and primitive sites are available. The bathrooms are the nicest campground bathrooms I've ever used - large, clean, and not communal, so you get a sink, toilet, and shower all to yourself. This campground is in close proximity to the lake, trails, and many other outdoorsy diversions!

      Relaxing

We really enjoyed this campground. The staff were very friendly from start to finish. Our site was perfect for our 32 foot travel trailer. Our site was shaded. as were many others on the campground. There are a handful that do not have any shade. Though we did not have one, there are also a few sites with a Lakeview. Nice playground for the kids, and plenty of grass to take the dogs out. Site was large enough for our trailer and two vehicles and still room for fire pit and awning to come out. A little hwy noise, but nowhere near enough to interrupt our trip.

      AOK Campground & RV Park

      Lovely overnight stop!

We were traveling and was looking for an overnight stop. This was very easy off the interstate but once there you felt like you were miles out in the country. Yes.. if you were listening for it you could hear some road noise. But it really wasn’t invasive at all. The sites appear mostly all level and gravel. We had a pull through and it was perfect for overnight. Full hook up and shade. We travel with a dog and so much lush green grass to explore and walk was a plus for us. There is a dog park but I didn’t look for it so can’t comment on it. Didn’t use the bath house either. Owners were great and met us even after hours when we arrived to make sure we were in the spot correctly. Would definitely recommend. They have a few tent sites that looked very nice. Site A was really tucked into the back and had lots of vegetation and privacy. The pool was small but was clean and fenced.

    Guide to Edgerton

Campsites near Edgerton, Missouri offer a mix of wooded and lakeside settings with elevations ranging from 800 to 1,000 feet above sea level. The region experiences four distinct seasons with summer temperatures typically reaching the mid-80s and winter lows averaging around 20°F. Most campgrounds in the area remain open from April through October, with some year-round options available for yurt camping and other accommodations.

    What to do

Biking on paved trails: Crow's Creek Campground features paved trails perfect for family biking outings. "Trails and roads within the campsite are paved, so it's great for bikes and scooters. Grounds are well maintained and grassy areas feel fine to walk through and play in," notes Julie B. The campground's proximity to Smithville Lake creates multiple recreation options.

Historic site exploration: Watkins Mill State Park Campground offers more than just camping with its historic woolen mill. "If you like history, take a tour of the woolen mill part. Very cool," shares Josh P. The park combines outdoor recreation with educational opportunities about local heritage.

Kayaking on calm waters: The smaller lakes in the region provide ideal conditions for paddling. "There is a small lake great for kayaking and fishing boats," explains Jason C. about Watkins Mill State Park. Some campgrounds even provide equipment: "There was a small lake where you could fish (catch and release only) and even a kayak you could take out," notes Shannon G.

    What campers like

Private, secluded sites: For those seeking more privacy during their yurt camping near Edgerton, Missouri, certain campgrounds offer secluded options. "We had site 26, one of the few basic sites. While some of the other sites were very close to each other, this one is relatively isolated. It's big too," shares Barbie G. about Weston Bend State Park Campground.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the maintenance standards at area campgrounds. "These are the cleanest bathrooms and facilities that I have been to I think maybe ever. The camp hosts were super nice stop by to make sure that I was all set up and didn't need any help," reports Lauri J. about Weston Bend State Park.

Proximity to water: Camp Branch Campground offers easy water access for fishing and swimming. "Nice big spots with electric only. It is quite a ways to shower house but much quieter than other campgrounds on Smithville lake. More family friendly," notes Robin R. The waterfront access compensates for the longer walk to facilities.

    What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds in the area have limited seasonal availability. "Due to unseasonably cold weather they shut off water with no notice and halfway through our stay. Ended up leaving early since we had no water and also no sewer at site," warns Bridget U. about an October stay at Crow's Creek Park.

Varying levels of privacy: Smiths Fork Recreation Area Camping offers full hookups but site spacing varies. "These RV spots have great shade, are spaced nicely apart, and are a quick walk to the lake! Amazing sunsets!" shares Steven N. However, other campgrounds may place sites quite close together.

Reservation systems: Most campgrounds in the Edgerton area require reservations, especially during peak summer months. "We stayed a week here it was nice and quite..close to a lake. Shaded sites in some areas..redoing the campground..it was put in in the 70s," notes Deborah about Smiths Fork Recreation Area, suggesting renovations may affect site availability.

    Tips for camping with families

Look for playground access: Families appreciate campgrounds with play areas. "The roads and trails are nice for scooters and bikes. Fairly close to the water and playground; within walking distance," recommends Brittnie T. about Crow's Creek Campground.

Consider off-peak timing: For a quieter family experience with yurt camping in Edgerton, Missouri, timing matters. "We have stayed in this campground too many times to count. We love it when it is still kind of off season like Easter weekend and after labor day. We have small children and it can get pretty rowdy during the summer," advises Robin R.

Check for ranger programs: Some parks offer educational activities for children. "During summer months, both locations host ranger-led programs and special events for glamping guests," a visitor mentioned. Family-friendly activities often include nature walks and wildlife identification.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: RVers should be prepared for uneven terrain at some campgrounds. "We camped in our 39' diesel pusher, had to use lots of wood to level everything up, including extending one of our jacks to the maximum and causing it to throw an error message," cautions Susan J. about Lake Jacomo - Fleming Park.

Full hookup availability: For RVers seeking complete amenities, options exist but may come with tradeoffs. "The full hookup sites don't have a view of the lake. This is why we chose an electric only site and used a spigot in the campsite to fill our tank," explains Julie B., highlighting the choice between convenience and scenery.

Road accessibility: Most campgrounds in the area accommodate larger rigs but access can vary. "Easy access off of highway, well maintained grounds and facilities," notes Katy M. about the region's campgrounds, making them suitable for various RV sizes including those seeking yurt-style accommodations near Edgerton.
