Best Cabin Camping near Raleigh, MS

Rustic cabins dot the forested landscape surrounding Raleigh, Mississippi, with Roosevelt State Park Campground and Big Creek Water Park offering some of the most accessible cabin accommodations. Cabins typically feature electricity, basic furniture, and varying levels of kitchen facilities—from simple countertops to full refrigerators and microwaves. Most include air conditioning for Mississippi's humid summers. Bathroom arrangements differ by location, with some cabins offering private facilities while others require guests to use nearby bathhouse facilities. According to one visitor, "Sites are roomy. All the things you need—electricity, water, fire ring and concrete picnic table. Lake playground. Bath house with flush toilets. Could use an update but not bad. Just a beautiful setting."

Options range from tiny log cabins to spacious family-sized layouts at locations like Timberlake Campground and Wendy Oaks RV Resort. Marathon Lake in Bienville National Forest provides more secluded cabin experiences, though with fewer amenities. Reservations are recommended, especially during summer months when waterfront cabins fill quickly. Most facilities operate year-round, though services may be limited during winter. Pet policies vary by location—DLo Water Park and Turkey Creek Water Park allow pets in designated cabins with additional fees. A visitor noted, "Beautiful park with many amenities. Have premium sites with 50/30 amp sewer and water. Have lake front sites, pavilions, cabins, and 'glamping' tent sites."

Most cabins include beds with mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen supplies are generally limited, so packing basic cookware, utensils, and cleaning supplies is advisable. On-site camp stores at Yogi on the Lake and Jellystone Pelahatchie provide basic provisions, while larger grocery options exist in nearby towns. Firewood is available for purchase at most parks, though Roosevelt State Park visitors must buy from the gas station across the street. Water activities are common amenities near cabin sites, with fishing permitted at most locations. Kroger grocery store is conveniently located across from Timberlake Campground for supplies.

    Excellent state park!

We loved our stay. Beautiful park, nice campsites, heated and clean bathroom, best spots are on the lake. We stayed in spot 15 and it was beautiful.

A couple reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars, even though we loved it. First, we reserved a spot weeks prior and someone was in it when we arrived around 5pm. The park was very helpful and accommodating once we found the right phone number. I wish they would put signs on the reserved spots to avoid the hassle.

Second, they do not sell firewood here anymore, but there is a gas station across the street that does.

Also, the fire ring and the table/grill are on opposite sides on the parking spaces and there are no cooking grates on the fire ring unfortunately. But the grill was very clean!

But seriously, would recommend!!! Just want to help our fellow campers out with some details of the digs!

    Roosevelt State Park Campground

This is what a State Park should look like!

Smooth paved roads, level concrete pads, picnic tables that will seat 8, fire ring and grill at each site.. This park has been completely remodeled and they did a fantastic job. Pull thru's and back in's available.

We stopped on our return trip home for one night, so we did not check out the bathhouse/showers.

    Clarkco State Park Campground

Woodsy state park with dispersed camping near a lake

State park near Alabama/Mississippi border. Nice park. Chose to do primitive camping for $15 plus tax, but they offer other options too. -dispersed camping -some sites near lake -mediocre fire pits -picnic table -quiet aside from other campers -other campers seem like they get kind of rowdy there, but this was also a holiday weekend -the sites aren’t numbered and are hard to find in the dark because the fire pits and picnic tables are randomly placed throughout the woods. It was like a treasure hunt to find them. -the amenities were far away which is why we’re giving it 4 stars.

    Dunns Falls Water Park

    Okay for one night

Camping area is about five tables and grills scattered on edge of property. No real sites (no tent pads, no fire rings). Surprisingly little regulation: fires allowed anywhere, swimming “not recommended.” The friendly camp hosts actually encouraged me to camp in the day use/picnic area, since it is closer to the flush restrooms. Water spigots scattered around but most don’t work. Gate to park locks at 5pm (key provided at check in) which is nice for security. Clean area. Close to a highway but few cars traveling at night. I was the only person camping on a weekday.

$15/night. Not bad considering the locking gate and restrooms with water. The historical structures are neat, as is the waterfall. The whole park can be explored in less than an hour, so I can’t imagine staying multiple nights.

    Peaceful & beautiful!

Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake. It was really clean and beautiful. Staff was super helpful and friendly. My only wish was that there was a playground for our kids but they said they have one ordered for this year. :). Can’t wait to stay again!
