Best Cabin Camping near Jackson, MS

Several campgrounds within 30 miles of Jackson, Mississippi offer furnished cabin rentals with varying amenities. Roosevelt State Park Campground in Morton provides cabins with lake views, though some reviewers note they "didn't appear to be in the best of condition." Movietown RV Park in Canton features rental cabins available by the night, week, or month in a "quiet atmosphere with friendly people all round," according to one visitor. Wendy Oaks RV Resort in Florence offers clean, comfortable cabin accommodations with access to an 8-acre lake. Most cabins include electricity, basic furniture, and climate control systems, while some feature kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Timberlake Campground in Brandon provides cabin rentals with a "hotel-like feel" that appeals to families seeking comfort while still enjoying outdoor recreation. Pet-friendly cabins can be found at several locations, including Roosevelt State Park and Wendy Oaks RV Resort. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during summer months and weekends when occupancy rates are highest. Cabin sizes range from small one-room structures to multi-room units that can accommodate families. One visitor to Wendy Oaks noted the property is "beautiful and peaceful with the friendliest people around. The owner greets every visitor personally, showing you to your site."

Most cabin rentals provide beds with mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary widely between properties, from basic microwaves to full kitchenettes with cookware. Visitors should check with individual campgrounds about what supplies are included. Grocery options are convenient to most cabin locations, with Timberlake Campground having "a Kroger across the street" according to one reviewer. Firewood is available for purchase at most properties or nearby gas stations. Cabin campers should also bring flashlights, insect repellent, and appropriate seasonal clothing, as Mississippi weather can be unpredictable.

    Roosevelt State Park Campground

    Excellent state park!

We loved our stay. Beautiful park, nice campsites, heated and clean bathroom, best spots are on the lake. We stayed in spot 15 and it was beautiful.

A couple reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars, even though we loved it. First, we reserved a spot weeks prior and someone was in it when we arrived around 5pm. The park was very helpful and accommodating once we found the right phone number. I wish they would put signs on the reserved spots to avoid the hassle.

Second, they do not sell firewood here anymore, but there is a gas station across the street that does.

Also, the fire ring and the table/grill are on opposite sides on the parking spaces and there are no cooking grates on the fire ring unfortunately. But the grill was very clean!

But seriously, would recommend!!! Just want to help our fellow campers out with some details of the digs!

    Roosevelt State Park Campground

This is what a State Park should look like!

Smooth paved roads, level concrete pads, picnic tables that will seat 8, fire ring and grill at each site.. This park has been completely remodeled and they did a fantastic job. Pull thru's and back in's available.

We stopped on our return trip home for one night, so we did not check out the bathhouse/showers.

Rocky Springs Campground, Milepost 54.8 — Natchez Trace Parkway

Wonderful FREE Back to Nature Camping

Rocky springs campground is a great place to get back to nature while traveling the South end of the historical Natchez Trace. There is almost NO cell service regardless of carrier. No electric, drinking water, or showers however the first set of bathrooms are very clean and work well. The bathroom sink water is not potable...it had a yellow tinge... literally. Nice paved pull through and back in pads, fire rings (way too tall but hey?!?), grills and picnic tables are plentiful. The large shade trees made solar power minimal but it was worth the boon docking, old time camping experience. Very peaceful get away from it all area. We camped next to the bathroom in a 21' RV.

    Wendy Oaks RV Resort

    Peaceful & beautiful!

Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake. It was really clean and beautiful. Staff was super helpful and friendly. My only wish was that there was a playground for our kids but they said they have one ordered for this year. :). Can’t wait to stay again!

Rocky Springs Campground, Milepost 54.8 — Natchez Trace Parkway

    Perfect Overnight

This campground is the perfect overnight spot; there are some hiking trails & historic sites to visit but, otherwise, it’s just a good spot to pull off the parkway and recharge. There are probably 20-25 sites, most if not all ate large enough for RVs or pull-behind rigs. Above ground fire pits, BBQ grills and picnic tables at most sites, off of the paved parking area(s). The bathroom(s) aren’t great, but they work! 1 bar Verizon, not enough to load any GPS or internet but you can squeeze a message out.
