Best RV Parks & Resorts near Raleigh, MS

Marathon Lake Campground offers RV camping with electric hookups, water access, and a dump station for waste disposal, located directly in Raleigh. Most sites accommodate smaller to medium-sized RVs with 30-amp electric service and water connections. Roosevelt State Park Campground, approximately 30 miles northwest near Morton, provides full hookup RV sites with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections on concrete pads. The park's campground features big-rig friendly pull-through sites and back-in options with lake views. Several miles south in Laurel, Sleepy Hollow RV Park maintains level concrete pads with full hookups for RVs of various sizes. "The sites were plenty long enough for our 38 ft motorhome, but they are not paved," noted one visitor about a nearby lake campground.

RV travelers should note varying seasonal patterns across these facilities. Marathon Lake tends to be quieter with spotty cell reception and more basic amenities, while Roosevelt State Park offers more developed infrastructure but experiences heavier weekend traffic. The concrete parking pads at Roosevelt State Park have been reported as cracked and uneven at some sites, potentially creating leveling challenges. Most parks in the region welcome pets but have specific restrictions and designated areas. Though facilities vary in quality, several campgrounds provide shower houses, trash collection, and sanitary dump stations. During severe weather season, campground hosts at Marathon Lake alert campers to potential warnings, providing an extra safety measure for overnight guests.

Small Diamond in the Rough Campground

We hit the jackpot with this small diamond in the rough campground right outside of Jackson. If you find yourself passing through Jackson, this is an excellent place to stop. This resort is beautiful and peaceful with the friendliness people around. The owner greets every visitor personally, showing you to your site, and making sure you have everything you need for the best stay possible. I can’t say enough about their hospitality. My only regret is not being able to stay longer! This was our second stop on our roadtrip from Dallas to Disney. Read the entire story at ChampagneOnDeck.com

    Lake Mary Crawford

    Quiet and simple

The road into the lake area is a little rough but it's only about a mile and a half from the highway to the lake so it's not bad.

Sites are first come first serve with an honor box, I think roughly 20 pads. $17/ night if you don't want to use electric, $22 if you do. I went without electric but each site has power and water. No sewer hookups but there is a dump station by the bath house. Bath house itself is functional but pretty rough. The lake was recently drained and renovated... I wish they could have extended the renovation to the park's facilities.

The concrete pads are not huge but they get the job done and I think they are all back in spots. When I camped there was a good size Class A on a spot by the lake. This was the only other site taken when I was here. You'll likely be on your own if you come during the week.

Overall beautiful lake and I hear the fishing is pretty good after the renovation and restocking. The campground meets my needs perfectly but it's far from "glamping."

    Clarkco State Park Campground

    Clarkco State Park

Great stay! Beautiful park with many amenities. Have premium sites with 50/30 amp sewer and water. Have lake front sites, pavilions, cabins, and “glamping” tent sites. There is also two roped off swimming areas in lake, playgrounds, and boat ramp. Facilities are well maintained. Very impressed and will stay again.

    Big Creek Water Park

    Great overnight stay

Located between Collins & Laurel MS. Camped here in a camper van while visiting relatives in Laurel. Most sites accommodate big rigs, but there are a few tent sites as well. Popular campground; recommend reservations. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to camp in site 18. Most sites are large with good separation between them. Wooded, but almost no privacy between sites. Quiet, secure. Good folks running it. We'll maintained grounds. The restroom/shower house was clean. There is a laundry room. Beach at lake. Folks fishing at lake. AT&T service okay. T-Mobile weaker.

    LeFleur's Bluff State Park Campground

    Lovely

Found this sweet campground traveling cross country. Quiet, large level concrete pad, 30 & 50 amp, water, dump station, $35 after tax. Even tho it was in town,. It was so quiet you could hear the birds on the pond. Gravel road entrance is decent. Only drawback was the burn ban.

    Sleepy Hollow RV Park

    Hidden Gem!

We were evacuated to North LA for hurricane Ida. We wanted to find something closer after the storm passed. Found this place in a Google search and called to check availability. We figured we'd be out of luck being that we were trying to book labor day weekend. Luckily, a couple spots were available for us and our friends. As soon as we pulled in Kim greeted us and escorted us to our site, helped us back in, and made sure all of our plugs and hoses were long enough to reach. She even had extras available to lend us if needed. She made sure we were all settled in and everything was good before leaving. We couldn't have been luckier to have found this great little campground! After being cooped up in the camper and leashed outside, we were able to bring all of our pups to the enclosed dog play area that had a great big shade tree to run and run and run. Poop bags and garbage cans were convenient there and throughout the park. They had a nice little pool. Nothing fancy, but just what the kids needed. It wasn't busy in there so they had free reign to wear themselves out(after being cooped up in the campers too). There was a playground area right there between the pool and dog run. Then right next to there was the bath house and laundry room. The restrooms and showers were always clean, and I like that a code was needed to get in, I felt safe going there at night by myself. Since we were evacuating for much longer than we expected, we needed to do laundry too. 4 washers, 4 dryers. We were all so upset since between the 2 campers we had at least 5 or 6 loads of laundry needing to be done(between dogs and sick kids). We asked Kim about it, and the appliance people were there the very next day to fix all of them. She did say they come out once a week to check them all, but I'm sure she had something to do with their quick arrival. The campground is only a few minutes away from the city. There's walmart, walgreens, multiple grocery stores, dollar stores, and so much more. I was even able to bring our pup to a vet'soffice to get his nails clipped. Since we were there for so long we even found specialty coffee shops, nail shops, and an RV supply store all within about a 10 or so minute drive. They also have great wifi! Many of the spots were cement and beautifully leveled. We met a few really great people there, some that were camping, others that were also evacuated, and a couple that were staying there long term for various reasons. We were so lucky to have found Sleepy Hollow to stay when we needed a place most and we can't go back! Thank you Kim for being so gracious and welcoming!

What you should know

Varying site quality: Site conditions can differ significantly between and within campgrounds. At Roosevelt State Park, Grant C. advises, "Best spots are in the 14-17 area flatter that others. Some spots are very narrow and drop off as soon as you leave the pad."

Road noise considerations: Several campgrounds in the area are located near highways. At Marathon Lake Campground, the peaceful setting is occasionally interrupted by traffic sounds. Similarly, Dennis B. notes about Sleepy Hollow: "Overall I like the campground it is nice and mostly quiet the hiway does produce a bit of road noise but we could not hear it in the camper with the windows closed."

This indicates ongoing improvements to family amenities at some locations.

Swimming areas: Natural swimming spots are available at several campgrounds. At Marathon Lake, Ashlyn B. explains, "They had a designated swimming area which was alright to go do." These areas provide alternatives to pools for family water activities.

Tips from RVers

Site specifications: For larger RVs, concrete pads with full hookups are available at Roosevelt State Park. "Smooth paved roads, level concrete pads, picnic tables that will seat 8, fire ring and grill at each site," shares Scotty W., noting the recent renovations have created ideal conditions for RVers.

Leveling challenges: Some campgrounds present challenges for larger rigs. Richard S. notes about Shady Cove RV Park: "The sites were soft/sandy and not super level. My in laws had their front tires of the RV off the ground after leveling."

Navigation considerations: Some RV parks have layouts that require careful driving. Dennis B. advises about Sleepy Hollow RV Park: "Lots of turns so go slow and know your rig," emphasizing the importance of understanding your vehicle's turning radius and length when navigating compact campgrounds near Raleigh, Mississippi.
