Thanks dyrt for pointing us here. For 30$ a night u get a level gravel drive thru spot electric, sewer, water, and wifi, laundry facilities and bath house very very clean. Very quiet all thru the day and night. Friendly people all round. 5 min to walmart, tractor supply, and many restaurants and gas stations. Spacious lots so you arent right up on each other. Theres rental lots and cabins by the night, week and month. Theres saved spaces for those who just want a pulling over night. Theres big rigs here and small ones. Vintage and brand new. These are friendly people you can sit a chair or 2 outside and not have someone pounding on your door at 7am yelling about a toy or a chair left out all night. This is our face in canton so far. Lovely place with country atmosphere. Pet friendly and spacious. All u need is right here. Thank you ms. Kay and staff.

      Roosevelt State Park Campground

      Excellent state park!

We loved our stay. Beautiful park, nice campsites, heated and clean bathroom, best spots are on the lake. We stayed in spot 15 and it was beautiful.

A couple reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars, even though we loved it. First, we reserved a spot weeks prior and someone was in it when we arrived around 5pm. The park was very helpful and accommodating once we found the right phone number. I wish they would put signs on the reserved spots to avoid the hassle.

Second, they do not sell firewood here anymore, but there is a gas station across the street that does.

Also, the fire ring and the table/grill are on opposite sides on the parking spaces and there are no cooking grates on the fire ring unfortunately. But the grill was very clean!

But seriously, would recommend!!! Just want to help our fellow campers out with some details of the digs!

      Roosevelt State Park Campground

This is what a State Park should look like!

Smooth paved roads, level concrete pads, picnic tables that will seat 8, fire ring and grill at each site.. This park has been completely remodeled and they did a fantastic job. Pull thru's and back in's available.

We stopped on our return trip home for one night, so we did not check out the bathhouse/showers.

Rocky Springs Campground, Milepost 54.8 — Natchez Trace Parkway

Wonderful FREE Back to Nature Camping

Rocky springs campground is a great place to get back to nature while traveling the South end of the historical Natchez Trace. There is almost NO cell service regardless of carrier. No electric, drinking water, or showers however the first set of bathrooms are very clean and work well. The bathroom sink water is not potable...it had a yellow tinge... literally. Nice paved pull through and back in pads, fire rings (way too tall but hey?!?), grills and picnic tables are plentiful. The large shade trees made solar power minimal but it was worth the boon docking, old time camping experience. Very peaceful get away from it all area. We camped next to the bathroom in a 21' RV.

      Peaceful & beautiful!

Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake. It was really clean and beautiful. Staff was super helpful and friendly. My only wish was that there was a playground for our kids but they said they have one ordered for this year. :). What to do

Disc golf course access: Timberlake Campground features an on-site disc golf course that campers can enjoy during their stay. "This campground wasn't quite my style but we were in the area and needed to spend the night. Disc golf course was a huge plus since I love disc golf," notes one visitor to Timberlake Campground.

Water recreation options: DLo Water Park offers river-based activities with shuttle service for float trips. "Plenty of river to explore and shuttles to pick you up after a float too. Good fishing, and good river banks. Very scenic tent camping, with the river right behind you," reports a camper at DLo Water Park.

Seasonal water activities: Water parks and splash pads operate seasonally at some cabin locations. One guest mentioned, "Water park is heated which I didn't know and wished we brought swim suits. Had tons of laughs and memories with my family."

    What campers like

Lakefront cabin locations: Waterfront sites provide direct access to fishing and relaxation. A visitor at Wendy Oaks RV Resort notes, "Spacious park that's easy to navigate and get parked and set up. We stop here on our way to FL each year ~ end of May. The grounds are peaceful and there's a little lake and looks like you could rent a kayak."

Free water equipment rentals: Some cabin locations offer complimentary water recreation equipment. "Free– 2 paddleboats, 3 kayaks, 4 SUP boards for campers to use(1st come, 1st serve basis)," mentions a reviewer describing the amenities.

Concrete pads and level sites: Many cabin sites feature concrete pads for stability and comfort. "The spots are pretty rough and in need of repair and they are working on them in stages. Nice lake and lots of woods and trails for hiking," shares a visitor to Roosevelt State Park Campground.

    What you should know

Bathroom facilities vary significantly: Quality of bathroom facilities differs between locations and can impact stay comfort. One camper at Rocky Springs Campground noted, "The bathroom(s) aren't great, but they work! 1 bar Verizon, not enough to load any GPS or internet but you can squeeze a message out."

Seasonal maintenance issues: Some facilities experience maintenance challenges during peak season. "This campground looked wonderful on the surface. Parts of it is very well cared for & maintained, but a large area needs serious attention," warns one visitor.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies by location, with some areas offering limited cell reception. Most cabins near the reservoir maintain adequate service for basic needs, while more remote cabin sites experience spotty coverage.

    Tips for camping with families

Holiday weekend planning: Reserve well in advance for holiday weekends when family-friendly sites fill quickly. "The trick or treating is the best. Start right when you can because there are so many sites offering candy or haunted areas. The spook trail is top tier," advises a family who visited during Halloween.

Playground availability: Some cabin locations have recently added or are developing playground facilities. A visitor to Movietown RV Park mentions, "Nice campground. Clean place and friendly staff. This is a good stop to stay a night when needed. Not very private and just a camper lot without any nice views, picnic tables, etc."

Kid-friendly water features: When booking cabins for families, consider locations with dedicated water features. "So much fun, so much to do! We stayed on the lakes edge, had visits from geese, ducks, rabbits and squirrels. Beautiful and very clean area. Pool, slides, jumping pad, playground, mini golf, tennis, basketball, planned activities each day for family fun."

    Tips from RVers

Late arrival procedures: Many cabin campgrounds accommodate after-hours check-ins with specific protocols. "We got in late so we registered at the closed office door by putting our $27 payment in an envelope in the door slot. How convenient! Close to Hwy 55, clean and quiet," shares an RVer at Yogi on the Lake - Jellystone Pelahatchie.

Site leveling challenges: Some cabin and RV sites require significant leveling. "The rv gravel pads were extremely un-level, even after waiting 2 hours, watching them add 7 tractor buckets of gravel the pad was still un-level and they finally let us move our spot."

Monthly rental options: Extended-stay options exist for those needing longer-term cabin accommodations. "Spacious lots so you arent right up on each other. Theres rental lots and cabins by the night, week and month. Theres saved spaces for those who just want a pulling over night."
