    This is a beautiful park!

We loved the park. Great for walking our dogs. The only issue was the poor road maintenance in getting to our campsite. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

    Nice stop on rainy night

Stopped at Pickwick Landing SP on a trip West to the Ozark National River. Nice campground but a little worn around the edges. Campground was mostly empty. We were in site 30, and the only people in that loop on a Friday night. They had recently had a lot of rain, and it rained most of the night. But it didn’t bother us. The asphalt on some of the roads was breaking up making for a rough road. But the campsite was large and mostly level. The bathrooms and showers were modern and well maintained. It is only 20 minutes from Shiloh National Battlefield Park which is worth the visit. We only stayed one night. Also- be sure to visit the Catfish Farm Restaurant. Smoked catfish is outstanding!

We stopped by on our way home to check out the campground. First impression is that’ll we’ll be back to stay the weekend in the near future. Campground is a small for a State Park but the grounds look well kept up. The staff at check in office were very friendly and answered all the questions we had plus we got a lot of information on other spots.

    Great

We will be back in the fall for an extended weekend trip. Staff was super friendly and helpful helping us find ice cream during a storm rolling thru. The site we had was up hill facing the lake which worked out with a small trailer.

    Older campgrounds

Stayed here for two nights. The site we booked was way too close to the restrooms, so we asked for a different location. The staff was great and let us pick a spot to change to. Lots of wildlife that comes out at dark looking for free food!

    Quick night stay

Ended up at this location after a crappy night in Alabama. It was very clean nice location. Very nice Mississippi State Park Campground. All the staff were very friendly and Gary was a great guy that we chatted with for a bit after checking in. Restrooms were clean and air conditioned. Family type campgrounds with friendly happy campers. We will be back a lot more in the future.

    Spaced out sites

Older campsite some improvements needed in the parking locations. Nice quiet, camping plenty of trees great for the dogs. Watching the squirrels chasing their nuts. We did have a raccoon jump on top of the RV at 1am and I think the wife shit herself! Write that down….

    Campground by the lake

We camped over the weekend in the old part of the campground. All sites have a firepit and a picnic bench. The sites are not very leveled and some were kinda flooded after heavy rain. It was just a bit run down. The bathhouse was old but clean and had good water pressure. The sites on the other side of the lake were absolutely beautiful and definitely newer. A lot of things in the campground were closed like the pool, lodge, and nature center. It seems they were under construction. The park has several trails to hike on. We did the one starting on the swinging bridge. They was good water access from a creek along the way, which was perfect for the dogs to cool off. We also visited Tupelo, which is about 50 min away. It was very interesting to see, where Elvis was from. I'm not sure if I would camp here again. Maybe in the late fall or winter time, when it's not so hot and humid.

    Great spot

We had one of the primitive tent sites. It was great and hardly anyone else was at the park. Too cold for the water when we went. Bathrooms could have been nicer but better than nothing.

    Quick Trip

Park has huge potential! The refurbished sites are level and nicely laid out with water a sewer. The older sites not so much. Plenty of hiking trails, disc golf, fishing and kayaking available.

    Nice Muni site

Last minute stop at this small muni campground/park. Clean grounds with friendly host. Photo from our site #7 overlooking the lake. Non campers kicked out at 8pm and gates are locked. All campers get a key for after hours entry/exit. Beautiful little spot.

    Small but quiet and cheap

Small campground attached to a public use park. Gated after dark with older but usable bathrooms and showers. Has a splash pad, a basketball court, and several piers on the lake for fishing. You can hear cows in the distance from across the lake.

Can’t beat the price at $22/night. We stopped in for a night in our teardrop trailer on our way farther up north.

Tupelo is 30 minutes away with the Elvis Birthplace museum and other attractions. There’s a gas station at the entrance to the park for snacks and ice.

    Serene, quiet little getaway

Really enjoyed the views. Some of the old spots are tight, but still doable with a smaller rig. We stayed at site 4 (old side) as it was our first time staying there. The site was great as it was looking over the lake and not a far walk to the bathhouse and tank dump if you need them. No sewer hook ups at old sites, but do have them at the new ones. When we left, we went to the new side and it’s a lot nicer with sewer hookups.. even had handicap spots.

    Pretty State Park

Nice campground in a state park with a lake. Campground is super small. Bathrooms are adequate. Poor cell service with AT&T and if you have starling it won’t work due to all the trees. Still, I really liked this campground. Small, intimate, tons of shade. Sites easy to get into. If you don’t have to have internet for work, this is a nice place to relax

Nice park on the Tennessee River

We camped here for a weekend. There are actually 2 different campgrounds. We stayed at the one with with electric hook ups. The campsite also had a fire pit, lantern pole, and picnic bench. The sites are spacious and not too close together. The bathhouse was very clean. The showers are separate but in the same building. They are a little outdated but had a good water pressure. There is also a little check in booth where you can purchase firewood, ice, and other little things. From the campground you can start hike a 2.8 mile loop on the water. We also stopped at the lodge for dinner one night. It was very nice and the food was good. If you wanna do anything in the water, we saw a sign for a kayak and boat rental. If you bring your own, the park has a nice marina. If you don't feel like cooking, there are nice places around to check out. The dam is very impressive and we saw a lot of people fishing. The park has something for everybody to do and we enjoyed out weekend here.

    Trace State Park Campground

Picturesque lakeside sites with full hook up

State park campground with full hookups in the woods on the lakeshore. Park is just off the Natchez Trace. Sites are adequately spaced and sorta level and paved. Beautiful sunsets picturesque tree lined lake. Deer Run bath house is showing its age, but Eagle Ridge’s is much newer, and it includes a coin laundry and a party room. Park roads are in serious need of repair

Great Lake Views in Deer Run Campground

    PROS

No transaction fee assessed for making my own online reservation

Site 8 excellent view of lake

    Asphalt parking pad

Pedestal BBQ, moveable wooden picnic table and rock campfire pit.

Eagle Ridge campground has 3 washers and 3 dryers $1.50

Heated toilet/shower blding. No AC tho - just a box fan.

1 bar T-MOBILE but we’re able to live stream TV via T-MOBILE hot spot

    CONS

    No senior discount

Site number is painted in the roadway and due to leaves on road difficult to find Numerous large road potholes from entrance gate to campground.  Guess this eliminates any need for speed bumps!

Not dark sky friendly due to 2 street lights, at site 2 and 13, that light up most of the small campground loop

Deer Run campsites very close to each other

    Site 8 unlevel side-to-side

Dirt and sand surrounded asphalt parking pad so during rains (for 2 days) it was a big mess

No privacy from any other campsite

Due to campsite water spigot being low to ground, insufficient space to add water filter

Deer Run campground toilet/shower building is not handicap accessible

Trash roll offs outside of camping loop. 15 minute walk one way.

    No park WIFI

    Our favorite campsite

We love this campsite, nestled away in the backwoods relatively easy to get to. We go here all the time, the rangers are always nice and constantly watching/riding around making sure there is no one causing trouble. New campsites with full hookups are coming soon but even the older ones are nice, just no sewer. And most of the older sites are on the water

    Pickwick Landing State Park Campground

Rich with wildlife, quiet human activity

Shaded, private showers, water and electric hookups, tent friendly, and wildlife-fanatic friendly. Though it is his and gets sweaty at night so bring a fan and appropriate sleeping gear if you'll be tent camping. The grounds are well shaded and comfortable so you don't cook during the day. At night you can indulge in the rich atmosphere of southern cicadas and crickets backdropping owls and coyotes (don't worry! Coyotes are scared of people, they just sound a little jarring when you first hear them yipping). Really nice playground next to the bathrooms.
