Free and hike-in only, this two-site dispersed camp on Blackstone Lake sits roughly a half mile from the trailhead along the Fernburg Trail east of Ely. No reservation is needed. The sites sit offset along the lakeshore, close enough for a group to spread across both. Toilets are available on-site, and campfires and pets are permitted. Timing matters here: one camper reported no bugs in late June, while an August visit brought heavy mosquito pressure that cut the trip short. Paddlers can reach the lake by portaging in a canoe or kayak, and the surrounding terrain connects to additional trails. Triangle Lake Campsite is one nearby alternative for those exploring primitive camping near Superior National Forest.
