Rum River State Forest, managed by DNR Forestry, holds a series of dispersed sites along a dirt road north of campsites around Milaca. Sites are cut into the roadside and run deep, most with firepits in place. No potable water, dump station, or trash cans are available, so campers need to arrive self-sufficient. Trailers fit without difficulty. Cell service is listed, and traffic through the area is minimal. A good match for self-contained campers who want low-cost, low-infrastructure forest camping.
