Kozy Oaks Kamp is a family owned, family friendly campground offering activities for all ages. Kozy Oaks Kamp is conveniently located on Horse leg lake, a small non-motorized environmental lake. Due to the depth of the lake, it is subject to winter freeze and is not a good fishing lake but great for small non-motorized water craft. There are many good fishing lakes in the area Kozy Oaks is near Blaine sports center, Almelund, North Branch, Cambridge, Isanti, Lindstrom, Stacy, Taylors Falls and Forest Lake, Minnesota. It is less than an hour's drive north from the Twin Cities on interstate 35. The grounds are adjacent to hiking and biking trail access at Irving and John Anderson County Park.

A really excellent stop over, although I didn't need a whole hookup!

I was traveling Eastward through the upper Midwest and had a really hard time in this area finding a place to camp. I finally came across this place. There was some suggestion that there was some drive in sites that were not reservable, that is. They were first come first serve. But I was unaware or unable to find those. I ended up paying a fair amount of money for a full hookup site. The bathrooms were extremely modern and clean.

There were some really nice wide trails around the lake. I think those were basically designed for cross-country skiing in the winter. But they made a perfect opportunity for me to let the dog run off. Leash. Probably was not within the rules, but it was very quiet there and the dog didn't bother anybody with her running.

      Fun place

The campground is nice and clean. Good size spaces. The tubing is a plus. Had one issue with power dropping so we had to pull the surge protector off the. It was fine. Also very hot and humid so everyone was running AC to the max. Pool was small but nice. Splash pad was even nice for adults I recommend this campground. Key thing is the river is very clean and sandy bottom.

      Love bunker!

I have stayed at Bunker a few times in site 33 and one of the walk in sites. Site 33 is very large and also very wide open. The walk in sites are a lot more secluded but not totally private. Really enjoy camping here, just wish it wasn't so expensive. It costs more than staying at a state park.

      Same day booking

Went early in the season in the afternoon and had no problems getting a good spot with electric hookups. Better for someone with an RV, and more seemingly a weekend spot for the family.

      Lake Maria State Park Campground

      Overall good

If you're looking for a beginner backpack spot, with privacy and not too far from the cities, then this will fit your bill. You can either do a short-hike from the parking lot via the road to B5 or a 1 mile easy hike via the trail. The backpacking sites are very spread out, we could barely tell anyone else was at the park with us ever.

B5 was beautiful, already lots of mosquitos for May (and appeared poison oak/ivy). I'm not sure what this park does differently than most other parks, but our privy was LOADED with spiders. I get it, it's the outdoors. But still, I've used many in-ground toilets and never had dozens of spiders covering the toilet seat/front.

Another reason we chose this park was for birding. The park ranger at check-in was not helpful and then said he's never heard of MN State Parks free birding kits to borrow, though it's clearly listed on several spots on their website. Bummer, but we still enjoyed our time.

Best "Smaller" (225 sites) Campground / RV Resort in Minnesota

Impressed with the distance to/from the metro (less than an hour on Highway 12 heading west to Cokato). Inground, heated swimming pool; mini golf; pickleball; tennis; arcade room attached to the office.  Ice cream shop has 8 flavors of hand-dipped yum! Freezer pizzas can be cooked at the store or bring one home for later. All the incidentals and condiments you might need.  Plenty of fun clothing for sale to bring home and make memories with.  And memories:  here's the place to start your family fun and lifetime memories! Head on out to the Cokato Lake Experience!

A very nice park. County Parks are very well managed in Minnesota

We stayed here a week. I have been here before.  It's a great campground if you can get in. We came late in the season and got the one spot open for a week.   BTW Camping Worlds huge store is just north on 35E.  Kelly's Bar nearby has a great fish fry on Friday.

The campground is neat and well managed. Aside from that no issues except being so close to a large city (Urban campgrounds are not for wilderness campers) and county airport (noise) occasionally. Close to the Twin Cities it is.  Access to anywhere is easy. The Three rivers campgrounds triangulate the northern suburbs. Baker park, Bunker Hills Park, and Rice Creek are all close to the major parts of town.

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park

Great spot right outside the twin cities

Great campground with all the amenities one might need, including showers, nice bathrooms, a park, a beach, trails. Right next to lakes and a nature preserve. Close enough to town in case you forget some things like we did. A county parking pass is required, they don't like people parking on the grass, and they have staff making rounds to enforce the shortest list of rules I've seen in the last couple of years. My only complaint is that the location of the porta-potties didn't match what the maps showed, so my seemingly perfect plan to be somewhat far from them failed and I ended up right next to one; it was clean and didn't smell, but we heard the door close every time. They have the campsites spaced out better than most other places I've camped and have trees and brush between the sites whenever possible. We tent camped and plan to bring our travel trailer next year. Definitely plan to stay here at least once a season.

      Woodsong Campground

      Negative, rude, controlling environment

Postives- clean and well kept, seasonal campers were friendly, lady manager friendly

Negatives- Branches in way of taller campers and would be tough to back into nightly sites if not used to backing in trailers. Didn't even bother to use dump station on way out which was on an incline and in the way of a main intersection. Not worth the money with not having sewer at campsite. If you want to stay here because of the pool and hot tub and have kids, the kids can't even touch the deck around the hot tub without getting yelled at by a crabby, negative-vibe male manager. Can't enter or exit pool area without walking through lodge building invades privacy a bit. At midnight we heard people outside our camper talking and laughing, even though their quiet time started earlier. Feelings of being watched through the windows of lodge and on camera was creepy. Hard to idle and brake enough with a high powered vehicle to be slow enough to be under their speed limit. In which crazy male manager came biking after us to charge a$5 fine, and had no change to break a larger bill. No proof of speed on radar gun, computer or electric sign while driving in campground so not sure how he thinks he can enforce that. Saw plenty of vehicles on driveway going faster. Just a really bad, creepy atmosphere and negative vibe towards new guests and kids. Had we we planned on more nights we would have left early.

If you have children STAY AWAY

We haven’t met a single person living full time at any site that hasn’t felt like family UNTIL TODAY. This is the face of a little boy who got screamed at by a grown man for riding a bike WE RENTED through a puddle. That’s right he SCREAMED at our five year old and took the bike away because - he’s the owner and he “can talk and act however he wants!” There is so much more to this I’m not even ready to get into but moments before this we got hit with a TERRIBLE storm with nickel to quarter size hail, the hail ended up busting out our roof vent covers and likely will need roof repairs. We came outside to asses damages and instead of the park owner checking on us he belligerently screamed at my children( he seemed drunk to me but that’s just my opinion) This is a screen shot during a recording my husband took for our protection because of how the man was acting. We were only there for a short time and quickly left after this. I didn’t not feel safe and would never stay here!

Absolutely beautiful campground with mature trees. Cedars , white oaks, hickory’s and more. The birds are singing and so are the kids because this place has so much to do for them. Pool, pool table, soccer table, mini golf, swing set, clubhouse, 3 wheel bike racing, and water balloons wars. The bathrooms are clean along with the showers. If this place was close to home I’d be here every weekend. Absolute beautiful weather with a nice breeze no mosquitoes not something you get in Florida in July !!

We have lived in the Twin Cities for two decades and have never visited Rice Creek Chain of Lakes before. We will again! Winter Camping!!!

It was November but that's when our anniversary lands and dang it we wanted to go camping so we did. Walk in site# BP6 was a hilly 1/4 mile hike one way but worth the view. We were right on the edge looking out over a small lake with towering trees all around us. Each BP site also has it's own private latrine house slightly apart from your site. Nothing fancy but it was clean and private. There are miles of trails at this park. We didn't get to see any of the endangered Blandings turtles but there were trumpeter swans, this is a huge migratory area for the birds.

A little slice of heaven close to the cities

We decided on a whim to camp here for a few days during a long weekend off - we were excited to do a bit of exploring and spend some quality time together, and didn't want to stray too far from home. This campground is perfect! We backpacked in and even took our dog - she loved it!!! Great tenting spots and even better scenery!

      A J Acres Campground

      Good Enough for our Needs

We stayed here for a weekend in May. The campsites are a little bit on top of each other. There aren't many campsites that you're able to reserve. The majority of the campsites are seasonal campsites. There are a lot of mature trees that help with the shade! The beach area is nice, but the only problem is that boaters and kayaks are in the same general area so you have to be careful so you don't get hit. There is a dock for fishing as well. You can also rent boats, kayaks and paddleboards for a small fee. If you want to walk the whole campground having a golf cart would be nice. Also there is NO petting zoo as stated on the website or on the campground maps. There hasn't been one for a few years but they have yet to edit the website or the campground maps. We went there partly because there was a petting zoo for the little kids. Seems lazy to me that they can't update the website or the campground maps.

They’re closing soon, but I caught this campground in their last 2 weeks open for the season! Feels lucky.

It’s right off the highway, and very easy to find. The camp is very well-maintained, the beach is gorgeous, and the staff was extremely nice over the phone when I set my reservation.
