Whitetail Woods Camper Cabins provides elevated glamping experiences in a tranquil forest setting near White Bear Lake, with cozy accommodations for year-round outdoor enjoyment. Each thoughtfully designed cabin features four sleeping spots with built-in bunk beds featuring full-sized mattresses, comfortable couches that convert to beds, and heat for cold-weather camping. "Each cabin has four sleeping spots: 2 bunk beds, and the 2 couches convert to beds. There's a heater inside, but no AC, which makes these the most suitable during the spring and fall," notes one visitor. The cabins offer contactless entry with digital codes, clean shower facilities nearby, and picnic tables with outdoor fire rings. Minneapolis Northwest KOA supplements the glamping scene with canvas accommodations and yurts set on spacious sites with convenient access to boat rentals, canoes, and a variety of recreational equipment.

Hiking trails surrounding the glamping accommodations connect guests with pristine natural environments and scenic water views. At Whitetail Woods, the winter months transform the cabins into snow-covered retreats amid pine trees, creating a peaceful eco-friendly glamping atmosphere with excellent stargazing opportunities. One reviewer highlighted, "Super simple camping cabins. They each have 4 spots and have contactless entry as you get sent a code to use." Resort-style camping amenities include free use of bikes, canoes, rowboats, and equipment for horseshoes and ladder golf at several locations. Visitors should note that reservations for these popular glamping accommodations can be challenging to secure, particularly for Whitetail Woods cabins, which become fully booked 120 days in advance for weekend stays during peak seasons. The prairie cabins offer different experiences than forest cabins, with varying levels of privacy depending on the location and season.

Baker Campground - Baker Park Reserve

      First time

We stayed at Baker as a family for our first camping trip, and it was great. Fire pit with swivel grate for cooking, bathrooms, and plenty to explore.

      Minneapolis Southwest KOA

      Basic KOA

Nice quiet campground. It's a very basic KOA. Not a whole lot of amenities. Large playground is quite good for children. Our site is right across from the campground.

Campsite is in the middle of nature. Lots of trees cover. Not much of a breeze but well protected.

Water is clean, electrical boxes are in good condition.

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park

Top notch for a county park

I’m still a little miffed that this was a county campground—it’s better than some state (non-MN) campgrounds I’ve been to. Unfortunately I only had one quick night here, but it was a quiet, relaxing stay.

There is a dump station and playground, but I didn’t come across a bathhouse when walking the inner campground loop—it’s likely I just missed it. I had poor cell service with Verizon, but it was good enough to text although web browsing was a bit slow. Be aware there is also an additional $7/day vehicle fee required upon entry, which is not included in the price of your campsite. It can be paid at the visitors center and I believe there is a kiosk if you arrive after hours.

My only complaint was the 5 piles of very large dog excrement in my campsite, which says more about the previous campers, but it was prevalent enough that I found myself wishing the park staff had cleaned it up.

Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park Campground

The Bertram Park pass was an asshole

Me and my nephew came to camp at Bertram Park in Monticello and the boss came up to him and was being an ass telling him that he can’t ride his dirtbike that has the battery in it and he said it in a mean way and he said if he catches him again, he will kick us out of the park. I don’t recommend coming here. The bus could’ve been a lot nicer about it.

      Lake Auburn Campground

      Nice and clean.

No hookups. No privacy at sites. Nice and clean, beautiful beach area. Nice pier for fishing. You can rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards. Many miles of bike paths on site. Great family campground. FYI, 10 sites are dedicated for generator usage, however you cannot use them overnight.

St Croix Casino and Hotel RV Park

      Amazing

Staying here currently & they have been very accommodating, friendly & flexible. Water & electric hookup but no sewer however there is a dump station, a bathhouse with real toilets & nice showers. Pretty quiet for being so close to the main highway. My cats are able to free roam the property & my dog can be tied up outside. Usually pretty nice neighbors too.

Water activities: Many parks provide equipment rentals for enjoying local lakes. At Country Camping on the Rum River, "the river is very clean and sandy bottom," notes a camper. Wild River State Park offers diverse water experiences along the St. Croix River, where one visitor recommends "snowshoed and skied. I really enjoyed the snowshoe hike along the St Croix River and watched the full moon rise."

Winter recreation: Several parks maintain winter camping options with groomed trails. "The ski trails were groomed and there were miles of trails. The candlelight ski was great and the routes were marked with different colored luminaries - for hiking and skiing," reports a winter visitor to Wild River State Park.

At Afton State Park, a visitor notes the importance of water sources: "NO WATER ON TRAIL 4TH JULY WEEKEND 2019 (FILL UP AT VISITOR CENTER).
