Harrisville State Park in Harrisville, MI. Awesomeness.

I believe myself to be a pretty tough critic. With that said, this was our first camping experience within our home state.

People: Everyone was nice, and helpful! This is a great look for us newbies.

Campsite: Phenomenal. We were in a site that was just a few steps to the beach! Though…

Nice campground close to home

Nice rustic campground located just north of west branch. No showers, privy is is decent shape. Not the worst not the best. Several lake front sites to choose from with excellent views. There is a public boat launch here. There is an ORV trailhead here as well so the majority of the campers here…

Do not go to this campground if you are expecting a good time.

This is one of the worst campgrounds I have ever been to. The bathrooms and showers close at 10pm, and the restrooms themselves are nasty, the showers cost $2 (in quarters) for 6 minutes of lukewarm water, the locals are hostile to unfamiliar faces, and to top it off, the rental ATVs and dirt track…

Rustic and close to Lake Huron!

If your campsite is not already on the lake with a short 30 yard walk, you still have far to walk to get to the beach. I stayed at 29 and you could fit multiple cars and tents or a good space for a trailer. Fire pit and table at each site. Vault toilets. All and all it’s a win to stay here. I had…

Camping as it should be

First time at Ossineke but plan to be back! The camp spots were spacious and all were either on the water or had a path to the water. One downside was the fire pit was so tall (like over 2 ft off the ground)…you had to stand up to feel the heat from it.

Great locations as you’re close to Alpena…

Gorgeous

This place is just gorgeous. Right on lake huron, the lake side sites fill up fast. The sites are tucked in just enough to eliminate traffic noise but super close to markets and fuel. Clean privy. Drinking water isn't the best but it would be tougher if there was none.

Beautiful and quiet

Gorgeous area right on Jewell lake. Walking distance from Barton City. Sites have nice privacy between them. Utilized the grill on the fire ring alot Privy was well kept. The lake had a beach area to swim. Didn't actually intend on staying here but it was a happy accident and salvaged our memorial…

A Christian Summer Camp, rather than a campground

It's a lovely facility, and does boast some nice amenities, such as a miniature golf course, half of which is ADA accessible, a tabernacle, dining hall, and cabins.  And some events do allow RVs.  But it is not a campground, in the traditional sense.

The dog beach is so much better than expected

The campsites themselves are sadly devoid of much shade, and only a few even have a water view.  But the dog beach, a bit of a walk down the trail towards the lighthouse, surely exceeded our expectations.  Most places designate barely usable waterfront areas to dog beach. At first glance, the dog…

  • Our dogs don't even normally like to swim, but loved the dog beach, with it's warm shallow calm waters.

A great pet-friendly getaway

We rented their pet-friendly cabin.  It consists of a single room, two bunk beds, a table mounted to the wall, two chairs, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee pot, a wall heater and a wall-mounted fan.  Nothing fancy, but serviceable.  There's a site with a picnic table, grill, and fire pit,…

Great Location, but poor maintenance

We arrived at the campground and it’s right across the street from the beach in their day use area. You are also not far from many other beaches if you are looking for options. There is an awesome farmers market in Port Austin on Saturdays which is within 15 mins of the campground. The park ran…

Peaceful retreat

Stafford County park was beautiful when we visited. We stayed on a spot right on the lake. The park was clean and quiet. The other campers were all polite and respectful of one a other and staff was very helpful and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Quiet & small

We chose this campground due to location (family event nearby). The sites are spacious and clean. The campground had 4 other occupied sites (seasonal?). We never saw another person during our visit. The sites have electric only. Water is shared between 3-4 sites, so you better bring a hundred feet…

Awesome secluded Park!

Beautiful little park, secluded and quiet. Every backcountry site has beach access which would be incredible in the summer. We went in early spring, I would recommend sites 1-3 for that time of year because they are protected from the wind. We stayed at site 4 which is the most secluded but also…
