What you should know
Insects require preparation: Biting flies can be problematic at certain times of year. "Bring a repellent for biting flies. Watch for many kids bombing around on their bikes & bike trails," advises RA S. about Tawas Point. Mosquitoes are most active in wooded campgrounds from June through August.
Limited availability during peak season: East Tawas City Park operates on a first-come, first-served basis. "If you are coming for the weekend, have a backup plan because I don't see how you would find a spot at 6pm on a Friday. Several sites are rented yearly and have steps and shed on their spot," warns Erika P.
