Pretty Campground In Fall

We stayed here at the end of October. The campground was pretty empty. There are camp sites along Black Lake, which is the 7th largest lake in Michigan. The lake side campsites are very close together but you are right by the water's edge. There is a playground area with swings, sand pit and jungle bars. There is also a boat launch and small beach.

Very nice State Park

This campground had plenty of trees, nice waterfront sites , if you can get one, bathrooms and showers cleaned several times a day. Nice hiking trails. We plan on going back this year. Brand new pavilion which is gorgeous.

October color Camping

Onaway SP is a quiet little park with electric pedestal at each sight. Sanitation/dump station has water to fill your fresh water tank for your visit. Beautiful colors and within 10 miles of Ocqueoc Falls and 24 miles to Lake Huron. Water is shut off Oct 10 for season. 15 Lake front campsites for rv or tent; Black Lake offers great Walleye fishing if you have a boat. Pet friendly, very quiet off season.

Nice park

This park is older, but has a lot to offer. There are kayak rentals, a boat launch, and activities that the host organizes. If staying on the water, there are vault toilets only and the sites are small. Seemed best for really small campers or tents. The playground offers two swing sets and a small slide. The bathrooms near playground and boat launch are very old. Main bathrooms are nicer. Overall, it was a decent stay.

Relaxing getaway

Lovely campground with a diversity of sites including some amongst some super-tall pines and others right on the shore of Black Lake.

Spent a nice week here over Memorial Day Weekend.  the first few days were quite crowded with people gathering for the holiday but come monday dearly everyone was gone and we were left alone by the lake for a bit.

The only drawback for me was that our strip of sites down by the lake had just one vault toilet for i'd guess about 25 sites.  The Upper sites amongst the pines have an older bathroom building and a newer shower building with good sized showers and plenty of hot water.

Tranquil and Great for the fall

This camp site is really cool and makes for a greta weekend escape from reality.  There is a trail network that cuts through the forest of the campground, which is a nice plus and rests peacefully on the shores of Black Lake.  There is a wide variety of tree species throughout the campsite, which is nice, including these towering conifers.  The campsite also features a really nice beach, with a community campfire area, and good showers.  Because of the size and the design/layout of the campsite it really takes you away from reality and puts you right into the wilderness where you can relax, unwind, and hangout with fellow campers.  I would definitely recommend this place, especially in the fall because the trees changing colors really adds a nice element to this campground.  The only thing to not was that our site, site 5, had a really rock ground beneath the dirt which made it difficult to stake our tent down.

Perfect place to relax

If you dislike state parks due to crowds and loud campers, you will love this little gem. Well managed and very clean facilities make this a pleasure to stay at. We spent Memorial Day weekend here and even with a full park it was very quiet snd relaxing. Great for tents and smaller RV’s.
