Situated on a canal waterway along the southern shore of Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans RV Resort & Marina sits roughly five miles from the French Quarter, making it one of the closer full-hookup RV options to the city's core. The approach through an industrial corridor of warehouses tends to catch first-time visitors off guard, but multiple reviewers note that the resort itself is well-maintained and gated, with gravel roads throughout the property. Airplane noise from nearby Lakefront Airport and occasional helicopter traffic overhead are worth factoring in, particularly for light sleepers.
Sites are spacious, with full hookups including 15A/30A/50A electric, water, sewer, and cable TV. Waterfront sites face the canal, where houseboats and moored vessels, including at least one historic river steamboat, occupy the slips. Some reviewers found the water views partially obstructed depending on what's docked. Landscaping between sites, including flower beds and palm plantings, provides a degree of separation between neighbors. There is no significant tree canopy, so shade is limited. Cell coverage runs solid on both AT&T and Verizon, with one reviewer clocking 26.8 Mbps down on AT&T. The resort's WiFi is paid at the sites; free access is available near the office and restaurant.
On-site amenities include a pool, communal hot tub, laundry, a small store, LP propane pickup and refill, a dog area, and trash pickup by noon daily. The restaurant and sports bar draws consistent mentions in reviews. "Clean spacious spots, freshly paved," notes Jeff M., who also found the French Quarter roughly ten minutes away in light traffic. Select "presidential" sites come with private hot tubs, though availability varies.
Rates run $74 to $169 per night depending on site type and season, which several reviewers flag as a sticking point. David B. found the value underwhelming at $89 for a partially obstructed waterfront site, though he noted he'd return. The resort operates year-round and accepts pets. One access road toward Lake Pontchartrain has reported potholes and is not recommended for RVs; the main entrance is the safer route in. Campers who want a different setup nearby can consider Pelican RV Park or Mardi Gras RV Park & Campground, both located a short distance southeast.
