East Shore Camping Area — Cheney State Park

    Year round camping available

We stayed overnight with our trailer en route. There are specific sites available year round that have water and electric available. These are located in the Marina and Lakeside campgrounds on the East side. The water spigots are insulated. 50 amp available at Marina campground only. 30 amp at both. Being winter, it’s pretty sparse, dry, and windy. For an overnight, it was an affordable stay.

My only complaint is that the available sites aren’t clearly communicated. We drive to every site until we found the right one. Wish they would update that info for winter camping.

Dump stations available! Unfortunately not for human consumption (see pic) :D

    All Seasons RV Park

    Clean RV Park

We stopped here on our way to NW Arkansas from western Colorado. The sites had gravel and were level. We had a pull through site with 50 amp service, water and sewer that fit our 40 ft Motorhome towing a Jeep. There was a bathhouse/shower with code entry which was nice. The sites had a picnic table. The office was clean and everyone was friendly. Rates were fair. I believe around $50.

Boulder Bluff Area — El Dorado State Park

El Dorado State Park Bemis Loop

Very quiet and spread out. Small RV loop with approximately 35 gravel sites all with water and 30/50 amp electric. The sites are fairly level with picnic tables at each site. All have lake views. It’s about 3 miles to the main state park area, which is very busy.

Bluestem Point Area — El Dorado State Park

    Actually stayed at Bemis CG

We actually camped at Bemis Campground about a mile and a half south of this campground. Right off of the main road. There was about 15 or 20 spaces all with electric. I believe there was vault toilets only but no dump station. We had to come up to the blue stem area to dump. Nice little campground right on the lake but downside was that it was right next to the road so a little bit of traffic noise and not really any place to hike or walk. Spaces were fairly level and nicely spaced apart. Probably would recommend taking a back in spot rather than a pull through spot as the pull through were all pretty small and had no shade.

    Napawalla Park

    Nice and quiet

The campground have 30 and 50 AMP hook ups, and water. The dump station is by the entry, the have a playground, disk golf course shelters, volleyball and basketball courts. Nice and quiet located on the side of the town. The bathroom where close i assume they will open later in the season. I didn’t see anyone, but they have cameras at the entrance. Caseys gas station in a walking distance from the campground. And the best is only $15 a night. $10 just to dump and only $3.50 for primitive camping.

West Shore Camping Area — Cheney State Park

    Summer fun

The campsite has friendly staff, the facilities and campsites are clean, great swimming area. They are pet friendly and have a leash law. The boat ramp and dock are good sized and kept maintained. I have a great time everytime I go. I recommend it as a stop while you are in Kansas.

    Air Capital RV Park

    Clean Parking Lot

Needed a FHU site to flush the black tank near Wichita. Wanted to stay in the area after a Boondocker’s Welcome stay to finish our sight seeing. Backin site, very close together, concrete, but not level. Verizon signal great, close to groceries and restaurants. Believe a lot of residents are here long-term working. Overall, suited our purpose.

Guide to Valley Center

RV sites near Valley Center, Kansas offer convenient connections to both rural amenities and urban attractions in the Wichita area. Most campgrounds maintain gravel sites with full hookups across flat terrain, making them suitable for larger motorhomes and travel trailers. Winter camping options exist at several parks with properly winterized facilities, while summer availability often requires advance booking due to high demand from travelers crossing Kansas.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The pond at Deer Grove RV Park provides convenient fishing without leaving the campground. "There is a very pretty pond area on the property, with very nice walking trails," notes a visitor who appreciated the accessible water feature.

Kid-friendly playgrounds: Several parks maintain dedicated play areas for children traveling through the region. At Lighthouse Landing RV Park and Cabins, "There was a nice playground for our children and the sites were plenty big enough for us to get our truck and rig into," according to one family who stopped for an overnight stay.

Mini golf access: Recreation options extend beyond traditional camping activities at some parks. Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort offers "Free minutes golf, etc. A very nice playground for children," as highlighted by a recent visitor who appreciated the family-oriented amenities.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathroom cleanliness ranks highly among travelers staying at campgrounds near Valley Center. At USI RV Park, one visitor noted, "The bathrooms are super clean, there is a very nice playground and fenced dog run," highlighting the well-maintained facilities.

Dog exercise areas: Dedicated pet spaces allow travelers with animals to let their companions stretch their legs after long drives. "I loved the dog park so I could let my pups run free," writes a camper at Deer Grove RV Park, noting this amenity as particularly valuable during their stay.

Efficient overnight stops: Many parks cater specifically to travelers passing through with streamlined check-in processes. "We arrived around 9pm and left at 9am. I had booked at 4pm but they never emailed me a spot number nor called me a paper registration. I called them at 9pm and they answered. Very impressed," reports a visitor at All Seasons RV Park.

What you should know

Limited shade coverage: Tree cover varies significantly between parks, with many offering minimal protection from summer sun. At Lighthouse Landing, one camper noted the development status with "Sites are still being made, not all sites have picnic tables or fire pits. NO SHADE! For a one night stop between destinations it's okay."

Tight site spacing: Several parks maximize capacity with closely positioned sites that limit privacy. "Not impressed with lot size. I have never seen a lot where both campers didnt have room to out out their awnings. Very tight," reports one camper describing their experience at All Seasons RV Park.

Varying Wi-Fi quality: Internet connectivity fluctuates between parks despite generally strong cellular coverage. "Wi-Fi was a bit tricky and we couldn't connect our smart tv," reports a camper at Deer Grove RV Park, though other parks like Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort offer "Great, robust WIFI" according to visitors.

Tips for camping with families

Utilize free amenities: Family-friendly features often come included with site fees. "Swimming pool, chuck wagon on weekends. Free minutes golf, etc. A very nice playground for children. Shower/Restroom. Even propane filling station," notes a visitor to Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort, listing the comprehensive amenities available.

Consider accessibility: Evaluate site access when traveling with children and larger vehicles. A visitor to Lighthouse Landing appreciated that "the sites were plenty big enough for us to get our truck and rig into. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and our kids enjoyed playing with a few other families."

Look for community opportunities: Some parks foster interactions between traveling families. At 4 mile Creek RV Resort and Campground, "Nice grassy area with nice showers and restrooms. Medium size pond with a small pavillon and large grill," provides gathering spaces for families to connect.

Tips from RVers

Budget-friendly options: Price-conscious travelers can find reasonable rates at various parks. "Gravel sites. Great, robust WIFI. Clean, modern bathrooms and showers," notes a visitor who considered Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort "a bargain at $33."

Extended-stay amenities: Travelers needing laundry facilities should research specific parks. "The laundry facility was very helpful so i didnt have to travel to find one. There was free wifi in the park as well, which my kids loved," reports a camper at Deer Grove RV Park.

Access road conditions: Approach routes vary in quality across different parks. At 4 mile Creek RV Resort and Campground, "Rough gravel roads two miles into and out of property, but only about 2 miles south of Hwy 400," which may impact arrival planning for larger rigs.
