TravelerWe stayed for five days during Labor Day weekend on our way to Emporia Kansas for Unbound gravel bike ride. This turned out to be a lovely little vacation for us. We were tired from the drive though we didn’t realize it until we stopped. There is a little pond where people fished, and a little walking path for little kid “hikes”. One day when we were bored we went to Casey the little town of big things and got a kick out of seeing the world’s largest rocking chair, wind chime etc. And we got a kick out of the fire breathing dragon in Vandalia. The camp owners were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was the cleanest I have seen at a campsite. The sites are close as it is a small campground. But it was easy as people were respectful of each others spaces and it was quiet.
ScoutThis is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I’ve been in in a long time. It’s small, owned by an older farmer, has electricity and bathrooms. It’s on a couple of small lakes and the bird sounds, the frogs, ducks, the whole natural environment is just wonderful. I would’ve stayed there for weeks if I could and will definitely be back.
ScoutThe pool, the lake, the gigantic playground, the pavilion, the laundromat, the location, the cleanliness in the bathhouse, the gardens… the hosts Barb and Gary work their asses off to upkeep this place. You just cant beat it. You gotta stop in and experience it yourself, highly recommend!
GuideWe arrived later in the afternoon and it was a little tricky to get to a spot. They have had a lot of rains lately. We did find one that was a little bit more open for Starlink. But if you want treed sites there are beautiful spots for that. The people here are very friendly and it has 50, 30, and 110 outlets and water at the site with a dump station by the bathrooms and shower house. The bathrooms and shower house are pretty simple but available there is a train that runs about a block and a half away, but I love that so it was a very enjoyable stay.
LegendDefinitely a fishing oriented campground ! The sites have both cement pads and gravel depending on the site. Some of the sites are huge, most are nice size and more or less well maintained. Luck of the draw on being level and having shade. At the end of the circles there are some sites right on the lake and the boat ramp is nearby.

The Engineers were even nice enough to build in a gravel path to the lake on one circle.
Walmart is within 16 minutes. There’s a small store right outside the front gate.
TravelerBooked a overnight stay while traveling through the area. Nice set up, but lots are tight with winding roads to sites. Many sites overlook small lake. Must be nice in summer and fall when leaves are on trees. Full hook up on lots but no cable. Park has nice store and commons area with games. A pizza place is operating on site. Had pizza and wings that were good. Enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly
GuideNice campground with most spots directly at the waterfront. Easy self check in this time if the year and not busy at all. It was a perfect overnight stop on the way south. One star less due to some strange long term campers and a bad experience with a unleashed dog at night on the way to the restroom.
LegendGeneral: 40-site campground with three non-electric and the rest are either 30 or 50-amp electric. Several water spigots are sprinkled throughout the campground.
Site quality: All sites are gravel and level. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are spaced a decent amount of distance apart and with the many trees, it did not feel crowded, despite being almost full when we were there.
Bath/Shower: Very clean with soap, paper towels, and a shelf for toiletries. Did not use the shower but it looked clean as well.
Activities/Amenities: There are two well-marked and well-maintained trails plus a playground and basketball hoop. There is also a historic schoolhouse, and guided tours are available by calling. Before leaving the next morning, I enjoyed a walk on the two trails. There is a dump station and potable water.
The campground was almost completely full on a Friday at the end of October yet very quiet.
