Robin Hood Woods Campground & Cottage Resort

Three miles west of Shelbyville, Robin Hood Woods Campground & Cottage Resort operates as a seasonal family destination from April through October. The property sits adjacent to a lake and accommodates everything from tent campers to large RVs with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections.

Sites cluster relatively close together throughout the wooded sections, where mature trees provide shade but can limit awning deployment according to campers. The campground maintains a pool that reviewers consistently describe as clean and well-maintained, along with a playground featuring a pirate ship design and a small game room. A catch-and-release fishing pond adds another activity option for families. Golf carts circulate throughout the property day and night, creating a resort-like atmosphere.

"Right next to the lake," notes Janelle H., highlighting the water access that draws many visitors. The facility includes standard amenities like restrooms, showers, and a dump station, plus WiFi connectivity. Staff receive praise for their knowledge and courtesy. Weekend activities cater to children, and the campground allows friendly dogs.

This setup works well for families seeking a lake-adjacent base with pool access and organized activities, though campers preferring widely spaced sites might find the layout too compact.

One of our favorites!

This is one of our favorites. It’s close to home for us but also, very clean with nice staff and a fun environment. The pool is a huge plus, it’s so incredibly nice. There’s a small game room and little camp store with firewood and ice. The sites are kind of close together but they’re clean and have nice fire pits and tables. The campground is well cared for. We went 4th of July weekend and they even had a golf cart parade and through candy which was so fun for our son. We’ll always visit here.

Great campground for kids!

Great campground for a chill entertaining weekend with kids. Beautiful new pool was perfectly maintained with plenty of tables and chairs to make a day of the time at the pool. Pavilion and picnic area near pool and playground perfect for family gatherings or kids birthdays. Even a small game room. Dog friendly too! Small pond to fish (catch/release). We will be back.

Not bad

A lot of golf carts driving around all day and night. Sites are a little to close. Trees in the shaded spots don’t allow you to put your awning out.

Loved it!

Took grandkids there for the day. There’s a pool, playground, fishing pond and small arcade room. You can rent a peddle type cart that holds 4 people who all peddle. They really loved them. You can also rent golf carts.
It’s very shaded and relaxing. From the road you only see an open field with some campers in it. That appears to be mostly people who are spending time at the nearby lake. I’ve driven by it for years without realizing what was beyond that part.

Fun, Clean, safe for the family

Just finished our second trip/vacation here. We stayed in the rental cabins, but are in the waiting list for a seasonal site. Right next to the lake. Plenty of room for everyone, from tents to the massive RVs. The pool very clean and never gets over crowded. Staff are knowledgeable and polite. Friendly/quiet dogs allowed. Wonderful pirate ship playground. Weekend activities for the kids. Electric golf carts allowed. Very inexpensive compared to campgrounds closer to me.
