Camping near hiking trails and close to the lake

Pine Ridge is a loop campground with some electric and non-electric sites. In April the leaves were not on the trees so there was intermittent shade. This was a decent place for $10 a night.

The main draw for us was the hiking trails. If you go over to the Pounds Hollow Rec Area you can find…

Great for tent camping

I enjoy this campground, and the sites are nice & private, but a bit small.  The electric is iffy, but the sites are mostly shaded. There is a trail system so there is lots of hiking available here. You can also hop over to the Pounds Hollow rec area for a swim/paddle.

Rough terrain, plenty of trees, peaceful

This this is a very peaceful Campground. A couple of the sites Overlook the river. The facilities are very nice. If you are looking for a hike it is a great place.

Directions

From Harrisburg: Take Highway 34/145 south 6 miles, then continue on Highway 34 south for 9 miles. Turn east onto Karbers Ridge Road and go 9 miles to the recreation area entrance. From Evansville, Indiana: Take Highway 62 west & continue on IL. State Route 141 to Highway 1. Go south on Highway 1 about 24 miles to Karbers Ridge Road, then west 2 miles to the recreation area entrance.

About This Campground

Pine Ridge Campground, located on the ridgetop above Pounds Hollow Lake, offers 13 electric campsites (20,30,50 amp) and 22 non-electric campsites. The Campsites are not large enough for RVs. Be aware that Loop One's turn around is narrow and not wide enough to accommodate vehicles pulling RVs. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring and lantern pole. Water source is at the entrance of the campground; Vault toilets are centralized within the campground loops. Campers can either walk a trail or drive to the beach area at the lake.
