River's End Campground & RV Park

      Week at the beach

Great camping area with dog parks close by. The campground is a little narrow if you are wide but all in all enough room to get through. All the amenities were clean and well kept. The local cat population is standoffish except ol 3 legs he was kind and loved the petting. The grounds are only a few blocks from the beach and it's beautiful! Had no problems here at all, everyone was so friendly!

      Coastal GA RV Resort

      Nice, clean

Friendly staff. Easy check in. Very clean park. Sites aren’t really big, but are separated by bushes, trees so provides some privacy. They are very pet friendly. We travel with a dog and they have a dog park. It’s not big (for larger dogs) and it would be nicer with a different surface (stone or chips) as it had really muddy areas. And of course there are always those pet owners who don’t bother to pick up there dog’s poop. So not the fault of the campground. Another camper told me they are adding a doggie grooming daycare facility. Which would be great to be able to leave your dog for the day while site seeing . Restrooms very clean. Nice showers. Doors locked and keyed with code. ice machine (free!) Didn’t use the laundry room but poked my head in and it was clean, all top loading washers. Great area to walk (like a boardwalk) around the pond. Close to stores, islands, restaurants. We would stop again for a few nights if traveling thru that area again. Restful and felt safe.

      Lake Jasper RV Park

      Loved it!!!

We stayed here for two nights on our way back home from Florida to Virginia. We had a pull thru full hookup gravel site. Our two dogs had a blast at the dog park! It is located next to a city park with walking trails. And only a short 30 min drive to Savannah. Will stay again! Clean, well kept, friendly. Close to freeway.

River's End Campground & RV Park

Tight little city campground with amazing location

This is definitely a "city" campground. Spots are tight, you will be very close to your neighbors, but you'll have everything you need, including a fire ring and picnic table. Wi-Fi and cable were also on point.

There is an on-site store which seemed well stocked. However, we tried to order firewood several nights and each night, they were out of firewood.

Bugs are bad. Bring bug spray!

There are two dog parks beside the campground. One for small dogs and another for large dogs. They are nice to have but both could definitely use some work. Even though we have small dogs, we went to the big dog park because the small dog park was in really bad shape.

Walking/biking distance to the beach. Also walkable to really great coffee shop called Tybean Art & Coffee Bar.

*Warning: While Tybee Island, including the campground, is one of the most dog-friendly places I have ever been, you are not allowed to have dogs on the beaches on the island. This is so strange to me, but they are very serious about it. Don't do it.

      Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks

      Location!

What a fabulous location. So close to the 95. Easy drive through spots and all the amenities of home. Including a convenience store, laundry, a fishing river, security gates, easy check in, dog park, even video games. The best part is that it sets next to the Savannah Ogeechee Canal Museum. What a beautiful picturesque place for a walk/ hike. It really looks like a place out of the movies. Worth the $5 admission. There are a couple negatives to the campground. The spots are in incredibly close to one another. Absolutely no privacy. Also, If you are near the road, you will be surprised by the morning traffic sounds. However, if it’s just a night or two it’s a great stopover!

    Guide to Hinesville

Campers seeking pet-friendly accommodations near Hinesville will find options ranging from basic RV parks to full-service campgrounds within a 30-mile radius. The coastal plain terrain features mostly flat, sandy soil with dense pine forests and occasional marshlands. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity, while winters remain mild with occasional frost between December and February.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Fort McAllister State Park Campground offers access to saltwater fishing along the Ogeechee River. "The sunrise was beautiful over the marsh. When I was here in April the flies were awful but they went away when the sun went down," notes one camper who enjoyed the shoreline views.

Historical exploration: Visit the Civil War earthwork fort at Fort McAllister for educational exhibits. "We planned this trip to coincide with the annual Civil War reenactment of Sherman's last battle on his way to the sea. It was our first reenactment and was interesting," reports a visitor who appreciated the historical context.

Hiking trails: Walk the nature paths at Skidaway Island State Park Campground through maritime forests. "Lots of hiking trails right at the campground and two large playgrounds for kids," mentions a reviewer who found multiple activity options without leaving the park grounds.

    What campers like

Spacious, private campsites: Many campers appreciate the roominess at Skidaway Island. "Sites are really large, spaced out and private. The whole campground is just very peaceful, quiet and serene. It is also beautiful with all the Spanish moss," reports a camper who valued the natural setting.

Clean facilities: Holbrook Pond Recreation Area maintains well-kept grounds and amenities. "This Army rec site is clean and quiet. If you are looking for a peaceful area to camp this is a great place," notes one visitor who enjoyed the tranquility of this military facility.

Resort-style amenities: CreekFire RV Resort offers upscale facilities for those wanting more comforts. "They have a pool, WiFi, gorgeous lake, a trail around the lake, nice level sites, and they pick up your garbage. It's absolutely picture perfect," shares a camper impressed by the amenities.

    What you should know

Wildlife considerations: Watch for local fauna at several campgrounds. "Do NOT leave food or trash unattended or they will ransack your campsite," warns a Fort McAllister camper about the raccoons that emerge after sunset.

Limited shade: Several campgrounds have minimal tree cover. "The only con I have is no shade," reports a reviewer at CreekFire RV Resort, a sentiment echoed at several other locations where summer heat can intensify without natural protection.

Access restrictions: Savannah South KOA has specific entry requirements. "Gate locks at 10 pm which really is not enough time if you want a night downtown," notes a Skidaway Island camper, highlighting a common timing challenge for visitors planning evening activities in Savannah.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple playgrounds at Skidaway Island provide recreation for children. "Really nice campground. Great hikes. Very close to a Publix and two convenience stores. My kids loved the playground and the fort tour," shares a family who found activities suitable for various ages.

Weather preparation: Plan for weather extremes, especially during summer months. "It was pretty muddy…people were getting mud all over because of the snow. Not their fault but a hard rain would do the same. Poor drainage," advises a Skidaway visitor, suggesting waterproof footwear for all seasons.

Educational opportunities: Holbrook Pond Military offers learning experiences for children. "Large wooded space, free laundry, excellent showers in heated/air conditioned rooms. Hiking trails, pond and fort lewis nearby," notes a camper who appreciated the facilities and nearby attractions.

    Tips from RVers

Site configuration: CreekFire RV Resort features angled spaces for easier parking. "Sites are angled so it makes backing in a breeze! And the concrete pad was almost perfectly level which made setup so quick," reports an RV owner who found the site design particularly helpful.

Proximity to services: Hollis Smith RV Park offers convenient access to necessities. "Small park with 6 level gravel 30ft wide spaces with full hookups fences between neighbors very well maintained grassy lots for an unbeatable price," notes a visitor who appreciated the value and layout.

Laundry facilities: Several campgrounds offer laundry options. "Paved roads to every campsite. Gravel pads for the RV. Close to town. Decent dog park. Extensive gym and fairly decent laundry room," shares a camper at Happy Campers RV Park who used multiple amenities during their stay.
