Upscale RV Enclave Encased in Pine Wetlands Near I95

If this RV oasis was any closer to the hustle & bustle of I95, the busiest thoroughfare in the Palmetto State, it would be on it, but what you don’t know is that there’s a handful of lakes and surrounding forest that is thickly populated by pine wetland along with 300 acres of Sergeant Jasper Park that adds additional nature between this CG and the highway, so you’re incredibly close, but you won’t notice it. In fact, you won’t hear anything out here, which was pretty amazing, considering just how close to I95 you are. And whether you’re planning on heading to Savannah, which is 30 minutes south of here, 40 minutes to picturesque Beaufort or oceanfront Hilton Head Island, only about 30 minutes southeast, Lake Jasper RV Park makes for either a great layover for a single night or for even a longer spell. What was also surprising is that you are not even located on the mainland here – in fact, you’ll be parked on Eagle Scout Island with direct access to beautiful Lake Jasper, which will satisfy your fishing, boating and paddling urges.

The campground is impeccably landscaped, well-maintained and organized with the RV and 5th Wheeler crowd in mind, wherein there’s decent-sized paved roads that will easily escort you around the entire property, where even the trickiest of turns are EZ here. The parking pads are both long as well as wide and where you do find ground, it’s a mixture of soil and sand silt, which prevents any erosion from happening whether you need to set up blocks for your sewage or erect a 10x10 shelter – whatever you plant in the ground is going to stay put. While there’s not a ton of privacy in between slots, each site was very spacious so you won’t have to worry about being up in your neighbors business and with 105 individual pull-through or back-in slots to choose from, each one is incredibly level and features FHUs featuring water, sewage and 50 amp electric. The pads themselves are either small gravel or sandy soil with all sites featuring a concrete patio.

Amenities: General marketplace at the main office, separate restroom and shower facilities, heated pool sitting lakefront, coin-and-CC-operated laundr-O-mat, community fire pits, doggie park & station, fishing dock, designated picnic area, RV & boat storage, covered pier, WiFi, cable-TV access, lakeside center, tetherball, horseshoes, key-pad gated entry, designated dumpsters, access to hiking trails that will take you in and around Sergeant Jasper county park offering more than 3 miles of decent, flat trails but the crown jewel of this particular campground is the direct lake access to quaint Lake Jasper.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) You definitely want to make the most out of being located adjacent to Sergeant Jasper county park where not only is there a direct trailhead access point here at Lake Jasper RV Park to explore all of the hiking trails or bike on, but there’s additional activities over here like a lakefront gazebo, kid’s playground, additional picnic shelters, canoe & kayak rentals as well as an 18-hole disc golf course; (2) In the event that you want to get ‘off the reservation’ and try some local fare, I highly recommend Tailgators Bar & Grill, The Clubhouse at Okatie Creek and Frankie Bones over in Blufton;(3) Should you need to load up on any supplies, just head east on Route 278 where there’s a Publix, Kroger, Sam’s Club, CVS and Walmart Supercenter; (4) If you are of my tent pitchin’ tribe, you’ll want to look for other accommodations as this is a mobile camping outpost only; (5) Be sure to grab a spot at the community fire pit or the small little peninsula that the picnic area is on around 5pm in order to get a pristine view of the sunset as it sinks right over Lake Jasper, making for simply wonderful sundowners; (6) Be aware that there are snakes and alligators in and around Lake Jasper, so if you’re out walking Fido, be sure to keep him / her on the leash at all times; and (7) IMHO the best sites are those located right on the lake and include sites like #14, #31– #38 and #39 – #47, although you will want to take the following into consideration: site #39 rubs right up against the shower and restroom facilities and sites #14 and #31 have the head trail entrance running between them, so if you are concerned with random pedestrians passing by your spot all the time, then maybe another spot would be better. If you don’t mind not having a lakeview, I also like spots #48 – #53 that are tucked away in a corner and keep you away from the general population.

Happy Camping!

Loved it!!!

We stayed here for two nights on our way back home from Florida to Virginia. We had a pull thru full hookup gravel site. Our two dogs had a blast at the dog park! It is located next to a city park with walking trails. And only a short 30 min drive to Savannah. Will stay again! Clean, well kept, friendly. Close to freeway.

One of our favorite places!

Lake Jasper is a wonderful place! It is located a few miles off of I-95 near a medical center. The campground itself is gates, with pull through and back in sites nestled in along a lake with palm trees and a wonderful views. We have stayed here many times, and every time the stay is wonderful and relaxing.

The sites are large and level for the most part, but there are a few sites where you will need leveling blocks for longer rigs. Most, if not all, of the sites are full hookup. Most, if not all of The sites have concrete pads, and the soil is very sandy so everything stays firm even if it rains.

Navigating the park is a breeze; the roads are wide, the turns are gentle, and there is plenty of room to get around.

The park is extremely well kept, and every year when we go it seems they added some sort of improvement, with the latest being the automatic gates at the front. You are not able to access the campground without a gate code. They have a small camp store with a few basics, a wonderful pool that overlooks the lake, and a laundry and a bathhouse on either side of the pool.

The campground is conveniently located off of I-95, but it is not far from Savannah and Myrtle Beach. The prices here have gone up steadily, but I don’t mind since they make improvements regularly and really keep the park well maintained. Everything looks bright and fresh, nothing is run down which is no small feat along the Coast.

We are heading back to Lake Jasper in a few weeks and I can say I am very excited to get there!

Close to Savannah

This is a lovely, well-kept campground. It’s just a few miles off of I95 so it’s convenient stopover for travelers. The campground is neat, clean, friendly and easy to navigate with big rigs. We especially liked the access to an adjacent county park with walking/biking trails……very scenic. We stayed for two relaxing weeks while enjoying leisurely day trips throughout the Savannah area. Loved this place!

Nice location

We are staying here while waiting for a work camper gig. We have a site by the lake. Pretty views, pretty big site. The driveway up to the pad was muddy and rutty when we parked. Some sites have a pea type gravel, ours is just the sandy soil. There is a concrete patio in great shape.

Laundry area has card access as well as quarters. It is clean with a set of washer and dryer labeled for pets which is good, there are a lot of dogs here. It is close to a trail system so you can take your dogs on longer walks if you would like.

It is very dark at night. The only light coming from the vending machines, dog waste stations, and RVs that leave lights on. Bring a light if you are going out after dark.

The WiFi is ok depending on what signal you pick up. We have a booster and used the pool station. Cable is not digital and cuts out now and then. We don’t watch it much.

People have been very nice and welcoming so far. We would recommend. It is a little pricey but I think that is true for the area in general. It books up fast so plan ahead.

Prett, clean, convenient

This is a beautiful campground clean, friendly, and the lake-side sites are really pretty. The sun sets right over the lake and there’s a small walking path part way around the lake too. Showers and bathrooms are very clean. It’s right off the highway, and has many gas stations and stores to stop along the way. I will absolutely stay here again

Great stop on our way up or down I95.

Convenient to the interstate, Clean, good size sites, pool, laundry and outdoor activities (walking trail, kayaking, tetherball). We will stay again on our way through. At $55 a night (stayed on a Friday) it’s not the cheapest option.

A very peaceful campground .

We are currently on our second day of a weekend visit. (July 17-19, 2020) Within 5 minutes of pulling in our granddaughters staying on the lot next to ours spotted an alligator, snake and several turtles in the lake. They were thrilled! Our checking went smoothly and the lots are clean level and complete with good working utilities. This has been a very quiet visit very convenient to I-95. A pool and walking trails keep the children busy and let the older folks just relax.n

Very well put together campground. Located on a wildlife park, I saw a few alligators in the lake. Fairly peaceful, besides the fact we were right next to the pool so it got loud at times. Very nice and clean amenities. About a 20 minute straight shot to Hilton Head Island.

Ranger Review: Camp Lake Jasper

We had a great stay! Very easy in/out and beautiful grounds. Shower house was clean and the pool was nice. WiFi worked well. We enjoyed the hiking trails. Cell coverage was good for work (att & Verizon). We stayed in a lakeside site, which was spacious and pretty. They all had a nice concrete pad, big enough to make a patio from right outside your door. Lots of alligator warning signs were everywhere. We did not see any, but it did make noises in the night 100% scarier. Great location right off 95 and a quick drive to Hilton Head and Savannah. We’d definitely stay here again.
