  I stayed in a back in site in camping area 2. I would call it big rig challenging w/the narrow road and tight-ish back in. I enjoyed the trails & observation tower as well as the cute little shop where you check in. My friend joined me over the weekend & her kids really liked the All About Bats presentation & the playground. Lots of deer & other wildlife to be seen. Shaded sites & mine was full hookup. Pet friendly & the laundry facility takes credit cards. They ended up renting a yurt which was cool. There are also cabins but we didn’t see those.

  Hidden Single Lane RV Parking Pasture

  Located just due north and only about 20 minutes away from one of the most amazing southern urban destinations – Savannah – and 22 miles to one of the most coveted beaches on the entire eastern seaboard at Hilton Head, South Carolina, you’ll discover an off-the-beaten path, singular lane that offers up RV slots on either side of its pebble-strewn driveway. While you might enjoy the absolute simplicity of this pet-friendly RV hook-up joint, you likely will be very disappointed by the single dimensionality of this place where there are many more full-time residents than there are those overnight victims of wanderlust. That said, if you are looking for (the most) inexpensive place to park your mobile living room and don’t mind having ANY environmental aesthetics to contend with, then Bellinger Hill RV Park may be just for you! 

  Again, there’s a single lane here, so you really have two options to choose from: (1) will I park right or left?; and (2) do I prefer to be near the entrance or as far back from it (and nearest the remote dump station – added bonus!) as possible? And if you simply don’t care or don’t have the option of choosing (as the place was pretty well jam packed when we stopped by for a visit), then whichever slot you select (or are given) then, you’ll be perfectly fine. For those that are thinking – I just need a place to plant my mobile house for a night or two and it really doesn’t matter, because I have a car (or Uber) that can take me into Savannah to enjoy the best of this southern urban charm without the hefty price tag, then great, this is the spot for you! 

  Amenities: pet-friendly spaces everywhere, cable TV access, complimentary WiFi, back-in full-hook-up (30 / 50 electric, water, sewage), coin-operated laundry facilities, vending machines, designated dumpster, scattered trash bins and picnic tables. 

  Insider’s Tips? Here’s a few: (1) Come hauling some form of watercraft and looking for a sweet spot to dip your starboard into? Then look no further than the Savannah River, which if you are staying near or at Bellinger Hill RV Park, then you would have had to come from Savannah to this spot via the single lane highway 17, and just shortly after passing the second fork of the Savannah River, then head east (it’s simple as it will be your first right after getting off the bridge), where you’ll find no fewer than a dozen perfect spots to launch your kayak or canoe; (2) If you’d like to explore the amazing coastline in and around Savannah, check out little Tybee Island, which is a gem destination of Georgia’s barrier islands and is only a 20 minute drive from Red Gate Campground; (3) When you get tired of thinking about planning and preparing for that next meal, you’re in great luck because … you’re only 20 minutes from the foodie capital of Georgia and have so many southern-inspired haute cuisine legends like Cotton & Rye, The Grey and Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room; (4) One of our most favorite places to visit in all of Savannah is Forsyth Park, which is centrally located in the city and provides for a great green spot to spread out a picnic blanket, take in the sun and cloud-gaze underneath the canopy of ancient Oaks just dripping with Spanish Moss; and (5) Infatuated with ice cream?! Then you won’t want to miss the best (and oldest) ice cream parlour in the entire South by paying a visit to Leopold’s – and do be sure to get a taste of the lemon custard or the rum bisque – simply OUTSTANDING!

  Sunshine RV Park

  Considering an extended stay to visit Savannah - consider Sunshine RV Park

  First of all, Sunshine RV Park is VERY MUCH in business! We stayed here for a month during September 2024. What has happened… the original owner William L.“Bill” Bruner passed June 2022 and now his grandson Michael Bruner is running Sunshine RV Park LLC. We stayed here 20 yrs ago and much has changed and for the better. Sunshine RV Park now has about 70 level concrete RV sites. The RV sites are about 65 ft in length of which 50 ft is poured concrete with a concrete patio. We have a 45ft motorcoach and we fit on our site just fine. All of the sites have 50/30/15 amp electric, water(good tasting/good pressure) and sewer. No problems with electric voltage even in the hot Georgia summertime. And new concrete sites are being added at this time. Lots of area to add more RV sites. Michael is doing a great job as the new owner of Sunshine RV Park. Michael manages the RV park full-time and has help. Someone to cut grass/weed trimming around the RV sites and someone to pick up any trash and help maintain the RV Park. RV sites are being improved ongoing. We use T-Mobile and get a consistent 550-600 mbps down and 10-15 mbps up speeds. With T-Mobile we achieved 5GUC 2-3 bars the majority of the time at the RV Park. We also have a T-Mobile 4G hot spot and achieved speeds of 15-20 mpbs down and 5-15 mbps up. No problems streaming at all. 

  Sunshine RV Park is big rig friendly. No rocks to navigate around and no overhead tree limbs to worry about. Plenty of room between RV’s. All of the sites are back-in except one site which is pull-thru. Sunshine RV Park is pet friendly and has lots of grass for your pet. Just make sure to pick-up after your pet, keep them on a leash at all times and no disturbing of neighbors by your pet. All commonsense rules to live by. Now let me say this… Sunshine RV Park has mostly long-term contract area workers. Advance reservations are needed to stay at Sunshine RV Park. Rif-raff is not tolerated at all by the owner, and it is very quiet here after dusk. I would say that about 60 of the 70 sites are long-term RV’ers. This being said, if you are a traveler and are looking for someplace in the Savannah area to stay, consider Sunshine RV Park IF you want to stay for 1 to 4 weeks or more. You must have a self-contained RV– no tenters. No playground/swimming pool or other RV resort amenities here, but you are only 7 miles to the Savannah Historic District, a 7-minute drive to Kroger grocery and CVS/Walgreens or a 10-minute drive to a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Lots and lots of fantastic area restaurants to choose from that feature great southern-style cooking! Sunshine RV Park is a safe and quiet(an occasional jet flying overhead) place to park your RV as it’s in a residential area. On Sunshine Avenue is the Georgia Public Safety Training Center- a training complex for all Georgia state and local public safety agencies. The Garden City Public Library, the Police/Fire Dept/EMS are all less than a mile from the RV Park. The owner’s home is next to Sunshine RV Park, and he drives around the RV Park to ensure its safety. Amazon local delivery, Wal-Mart grocery local delivery, UPS and FedEx all serve Sunshine RV Park as we had deliveries from all four during our stay. There is a farmers’ market at Forsyth Park every Saturday year-round from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM featuring a variety of farm goods and prepared foods. We did encounter a minor problem with USPS mail. USPS does not deliver to this address unless you register with the Post Office prior to receiving postal mail. To have our USPS postal mail received, we used Post Office General Delivery Service and picked up our mail at the Savannah Post Office downtown. The Savannah Visitor Center on MLK is a great resource to help plan your area adventure. Savannah is a walking town. Savannah has squares and parks, and these are the community's most beloved icons. Originally designed with 24 squares, 22 remain today to be enjoyed by the millions who walk these grassy utopias every year. If I was to mention a negative, driving down Sunshine Ave. we did encounter some tree branches. No damage to our RV but do drive slowly. Sunshine Ave. is only a half-mile long street and the RV park is on the left side at the end of the street. The RV Park’s office has a large sign on it with the address and phone number of Sunshine RV Park. We truly enjoyed our 1 month stay here at Sunshine RV Park and absolutely enjoyed our visit to beautiful and historical Savannah, Georgia. We hope the information we have provided will help you plan your visit to Savannah.

  Update- I had given a copy of our review of Sunshine RV Park to the owner about a week prior to a departure. Michael had read that I had commented on our encounter of some tree branches along Sunshine Ave. and trimmed them back nicely! Even trimming tree branches of private property owners who's homes border Sunshine Ave. IMO, this owner truly cares about this business.

  Happy Campers RV Park

  Quite, close to Ft. Stewart

  Stayed there for 4 nights while bow hunting Ft. Stewart. It's only 15 minutes to the front gate. While we were there it seemed like a pretty quite place, even  on the weekend. Spaces are pretty close to each other and most of the park is permanent buildings which appear to be for long term residences.

  We were not around during the day but at night it was plenty quite. No fire pit but we did have a picnic table. Parking was on a concrete pad next to the RV.

  Cell signal was good on T-Mobile. I recorded download speeds of 57 Mbps and uploads of 1.79 Mbps.

  All and all I'd stay there again the lady I spoke with to make the reservation was quite helpful and emailed a copy of the campground map with directions. We used Passport America so our rate was $24.50 per night. I'd stay there again and likely will on our next hunt.

  Fort McAllister State Park Campground

  Beautiful sunsets!

  We are a big rig, a 44' fifth wheel and longer with a hydraulic motorcycle lift on the back.  We were able to fit into the state park.  In our two years of full-timing, it's the first time we've even tried.  Yes, some of the roads are tight, but I'm confident we'll be able to get out just as easily. 

  Staff was very friendly.  The gift shop has some really cute / neat stuff in it.  They even have a little museum to walk through (for a small cost), which we haven't done yet.  (Arrived about 4, closes at 5pm (at least on Sunday.))

  Site has a firepit, and it's a large pull through(those side pull throughs off the main road). Great water pressure. AT&T connection, 68ms ping, 18.46 down, 5.81 up. Good enough for my work.

  Highly recommend Fish Tales restaurant, which you'll pass on the way in.  There's a Publix just a few miles away for groceries.  Pretty good wine selection!  Even a small, but sufficient, liquor store next door.

  Snooty RV Resort Right on the Water

  Given the well-healed surrounding isle that you have transported yourself to, it should be an assumption that whatever you experience here on HHI is going to cost a bit more, feel a bit smoother and last a bit longer in the memory banks of moments shared. This incredibly well-landscaped, pet-friendly RV outpost sits on the northwestern corner of Hilton Head and from the very moment you exit Route 278 / William Hilton Parkway, you will feel as though you’ve been whisked away to a secluded wooden forest of ancient and live oaks bathing the sunscape in Spanish moss as you make your way to the entrance of Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort.

  Upon entry, you’ll be confused as to where to park as there’s plenty of roadside (apparently public) parking with your first view of the water, which isn’t quite yet the Atlantic, but instead, Skull Creek. While you will be attracted to stop and pull over here as the amazing view will lure you to steer to one of the number of vacant parking spaces, don’t. Instead, take a left and head to the main office where you’ll check-in, but be careful, what looks like the main office, actually isn’t – that first small building you’ll spot is just for rentals and tours (despite the sign indicating RESERVATIONS), so keep on heading in the direction of the larger building just beyond the first one. And while the scenery is amazing, we were less-than-impressed by the non-existent staff at reception – in fact, reception was closed when we arrived… at 8am, mind you, on a Saturday morning nonetheless, when me thinks most folks would be checking in – and we were told to wait until someone opened up the office, which didn’t happen for another 1½ hours. Once checked in, you’ll easily find your slot here amongst the 200 or so back-in (no pull-thru sites that we saw) RV slots all of which offer up 30 / 50 amp electric, water & sewage.

  Amenities include: tennis courts, (2) heated pools and jacuzzis, bath house and restrooms, horseshoe pits, kids playground, designated dumpsters, covered pavilions, fishing pier, boat, kayak and jet ski rentals, recreational area, assorted picnic areas, dolphin, fishing& watersports tour facility, sun deck, marketplace, fuel dock, exercise room/ gym, WiFi, cable TV, laundr-O-mat, 5 star on-site restaurant (see below Insider's Tip #1), wet & dry saunas, full-fledged working marina and, of course, direct access to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and the amazing beaches that await you here at HHI. One huge bummer is that none of the sites have a fire ring, which seems like a basic thing, especially at a luxe location like this.

  This RV campground offers up concrete pads in an incredibly well-manicured space that offers up 12 amazing oceanfront sites (#53 - 65) that will provide you with walking distance access to the amazing Sunset Grille restaurant along with a designated picnic area. If you are not fortunate enough or don’t want to splurge on such accommodations, you’ll have your pick of 10 or so other RV micro-communities here, so depending upon whether you want to be as close to the action (sites #182 – 200), which places you around the tennis / pool / hot tub / bath house fulcrum, or on an outer loop (either #24 – 52 OR #1 – #23) or one of the 6 interior loops, there’s a very smooth, well-appointed concreted slab of paradise awaiting you here.

  Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) While you are obviously aware of the substantial dining options available to you here at Hilton Head, made even more abundant if you were to include not too distant Savannah, you’ll be blown away by the fact that you don’t need to jump in your RV or vehicle to find some succulent servings, in fact, just head on over to Sunset Grille, which is connected to this RV resort and has startling views of the Atlantic Ocean all while offering up typical low country dishes like shrimp & grits, buttermilk fried pork chop and brined fried chicken; (2) At $199 / night for waterfront sites during peak seasons and $119 for interior sites during the same time frame, I find this RV depot somewhat overpriced, but hey, it’s Hilton Head – if you want value for $ being this close to the water, then manage your expectations or head southwest to Alabama Shores – otherwise, enjoy the ritzy RV life here; (3) If you would like to become educated on the area that you are laying your head down at each night, then it is worth the time investment to check out Gullah Museum of Hilton Head, which has absolutely amazing exhibitions and a wonderful facilitated tour of the historical significance of Hilton Head Island and the surrounding area; (4) Should you elect to get some decent hiking in, just about 15 minutes from where you are parked there’s Victoria Bluff Heritage Preserve; (5) If you are on the look-out for some amazing encounters with nature, we were able to spot dolphins, manatees and stingrays from the dock here at the resort!; and (6) In the event that you need to load up on any supplies, just head due east and within 7-10 minutes, you’ll encounter a Jarvis Creek General Store, Walmart Supercenter, Publix and Harris Teeter.

  One of our favorites

  We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. We had a pull through site with full hookups. The sites are well spaced with trees in between most sites. There are 4-5 miles of trails in the park that are close to the campground. We had 1-2 bars of Verizon and 2-3 bars of AT&T. We got quite a few OTA channels that came in really good. The dump station was across from our site, but it wasn't too bad. I'd definitely stay here again. Some roads were a little narrow and tight to navigate with trees. The only issue we had is they turned off the water without notice one of the days we were there and it was off for over an hour. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

  Loud and Expensive

  This is a review of our experience here for a six month stay for work (Sep-Mar 2023/24). Whether anything is under the control of the owners or not, it provides information about our experience for others. Our evaluation is based on a comparison of campgrounds we have been to over the last thirty plus years. We know we agreed to the terms here, but didn't have much of a choice with other places being full and other reservations being cancelled on us prior to our arrival.

    Making reservation and check in were both easy. We paid by check. We were brought to our site in a golf cart and shown all the hookups and it was explained how to get into the site easily. We had no problems with Barbara or Russ. They were very informative as to where all the necessary places were (groceries, car wash etc.) We were also given a couple of good recommendations for local restaurants. You can buy tickets and get the trolley from here.   Most sites are nice, large, and shaded. Ours had a concrete pad and we fit our 36 foot 5th wheel and 2 vehicles easily, and still had all kinds of space. The front row is all on dirt and close together, the rest of the park is spacious sites.   The park itself is nice and everyone is quiet. There are many long term and permanent rigs, but all are in pretty good shape. Convenient location for work at hospital. You can receive mail/packages here.

  Now for the drawbacks.   It is pretty expensive for a park with no amenities. There is no wifi, laundry room, shower/restroom, picnic table, fire ring, store, or dog park. Nothing. Our next campground is four hundred a month cheaper and has showers, restrooms and laundry/game room. All of our previous campgrounds at this price had pools, playgrounds, basketball and or pickleball, stores, propane, dog parks, fire rings, picnic tables, and some even free entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings.   This is by far the loudest campground we have ever been to for road noise. The front row is 20 yards from the highway, and the second row (which we were in) is about 30 yards away. Vehicles with loud exhausts and stereos and semis all day long. There are both a police station and a fire station right down the road, so they go blasting by with sirens on average 4-6 times a day. I even joked with my wife that there were no sirens until 20 minutes into the new year. There is no attempt to quiet it, like a privacy fence or anything. I understand it may not be as bad in the back spaces.   No security measures. I know of four vehicles that were gone through while we were there (including mine). The fence doesn't surround the whole property, no controlled access, no cameras, and only one light at the entrance. I read a previous review that someone else had a problem with catching someone going through their stuff here.   Monthly stays have to maintain your own site. Mowing, raking, etc. Since it was fall/winter I did a lot of cleaning up leaves and fallen branches. Somewhere between 30-40 bags of leaves.   Large trees may be nice for shade in summer, but both of our vehicles (one brand new) ended up looking like they were in a hailstorm from the acorns falling out of the huge oaks they were parked under. The truck also had a couple of scrapes from the branches falling on it. Site 5. Not all sites have the parking directly beneath these behemoth trees.   We went ten days over six months. For the last ten days our rate was changed to where it cost seventy dollars per night. Most places have just continued those last few days at the same rate we were paying for the monthly rate.   After a while of being in Savannah we did find other campgrounds at about half the price which would have added between 10 to 30 minutes of drive time for work. We chose to not go through the hassle of packing everything up and moving. We would probably choose one of those campgrounds for two main reasons: Price and road noise.
