The people are friendly and the fishing is great. Tent sites are primitive but there is a bath house.
We stayed for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend. Campground was quiet & restrooms were clean. We rented canoes & kayaks, and had a fun day on the river. Employees were very nice & helpful!

If you're local they don't want you there
If you’re in the Tampa Bay area it’s a great place to camp it’s part of a much larger RV site.
There are several trails crossing the river, paved and unpaved bike, walk, run trails, a ginormous swimming pool, a snack shop and equipment rental. It's breath taking and has everything you could want.
This was our second Thousand Trails stay. Unlike The Oaks at Point South you have to find your own spot. It's a little unnerving. Fortunately, we had a few to choose from as soon as we arrived. There are a few paved roads but others are not. It had just rained a lot due to Hurricane Eta and there…

This is an eco experience with much diversity in flora and fauna. From gators to wild pigs, they have it all. Be careful as this campground is run by the racoons! Store has cool gear and excellent food. Try the Aligator stew! Also wood available for open fires. Lots of rules but worth the visit.

Nice wide, level concrete pull- through sites but not really child friendly. Most of the people were full timers who were not that nice.
There seems to be two sides to this campground. One is the snowbird side, and the other is the campground side. If you are looking for a camping feel make sure you get the campground side. This KOA was just ok to me. It is in a good location to beaches, shopping and the walking path that goes thru…
Planty of amenities, not far from the beach ( 10'driving distance). Good WiFI.
Don't stay at spots WD2,3,4,5,6 as they are very muddy if you are caught in a rainy season.
Stayed here for 5 days in the heat of summer. Located just outside of Sarasota and on the edge of Nokomis. Very “old Florida” with lots of palm hammocks and scrub oaks. Cant say. Much about the creek running behind out site as you really couldn’t see it. Most of the sites are decent size. Gotta…
Myatkka River State Park is full of wildlife...deer, hogs, alligators (safe places to view) lots of birds including eagles & turkeys.

Pros Nice staff, clean baths, wooded sites, several walking/hiking trails, great biking on the park and Legacy Trail.
- Dump Station Location (blocks exit)
- Camp map hard to read
- Waterfront site if they cut all the bushes down. Only a few sites could see the water.
Need To Know 1)…
Camping next to the river with our adult kids and the grandkids, good bicycle paths walking trails, canoeing fishing and actually quite in the evenings on the eastern side of the grounds, everything is well maintained. Watch the electricity during high usage the voltage drop, ours droped to 108v…

Stayed here for 6 months. Somewhat pricey compared to off base facilities.
