Quiet and peaceful

I stopped here to stay overnight on a Thursday as I was passing through. There was only one camper but did not know that until I left the next morning. It was quiet and felt secluded. The sites were close as you would normally get in an established campground but there was plenty of brush to separate each site.

Perfect for primitive camping

Our plan was to get to the bootlegger campsite, accidentally ended up at hammock (then realized it’s a 50minute drive to get to bootlegger) so we stayed at hammock. It was great - plenty of brush between you and the next camper. Site with picnic table, fire pit with grill & designated tent spot.

Secluded wildlife

We went in March and it got pretty chilly at night, but the fire pit helped us stay warm. The portapotty was one of the nicer composting variety, but the campground were primitive otherwise. The sites are all on one loop, but there are trees and bushes separating each one for some privacy.

Difficult

Apríl 9,2021 Site #4 Camper Van GPS will not get you there. Go to Middleburg. Take Long Bay Rd. Left on Old Jennings Rd. Follow signs. Picnic table, fire ring, pít toilet. Old campground deep in the woods. Many white spotted ticks. No trails, but miles of unpaved road. I left before first nightfall because Nearby campers having loud, ongoing domestic dispute sent me packing.

Out of Sight

First time here and I will have to say, what a nice place. It’s cheap. Seems like no one is around and a few of the spots are closed for the Covid-19 but will have to say. Even though I only spend 1 night and it poured all night, I would do it again

Great area just waiting for people to go

I have come here on occasion an now am currently camping a couple days here.. The place is just gorgeous for being just outside of the Jacksonville area. There are designated camping sites and walk in camping sites (at this time though Bootlegger Campground is closed, wall in camp sites are closed, and Hammock cg is only reserving 4 out of the 8 sites due to Covid) 23k acre park, some 30 miles of trails, most well marked, with fording places for canoe/kayak on two different creeks. Horseback trails, an not a lot of people. Trails are kept decently, mostly soft sand, or grass. The forest is just beautiful and the creeks also.. Cell service gets spotty but if your here to have your nose in your phone, you are missing out.

Back Country in Florida

Jennings is a quiet hiking area with hammock camping and regular camping. There are many well marked trails that run through the site as well as a fishing area and grills near the parking lot. The camping is hike in.

New trail

We hiked the beach pioneer trail and really enjoyed ourselves. The campsite is about a mile in and has a picnic table and fire ring. There is a stream nearby for water. The trail is well marked and we only saw a few other while hiking. There are new stream crossings placed in good location and they keep your feet dry.
