Hike-in access defines this primitive campground along Black Creek in Jennings State Forest, requiring a 1.3-mile trek from the Phillips Branch Crossing parking area. The trail follows Dunns Farm Trail past another campground before reaching Mule Landing's creek-side location. Ground space accommodates 2-3 small to medium tents on relatively level terrain softened by fallen leaves.
A single fire ring with fold-over grill grate anchors the site, accompanied by a bartop table with matching bench and scattered logs for firewood. Creek access lies about 60 yards away via handcrafted stairs, though kayak landing spots require exploration. The campground includes fishing, hiking, biking, and equestrian trail access, with campfires, pets, and alcohol permitted at this free state forest location.
Description
This is along the Pioneer Trail.
Just behind and overlook is the Mule Landing campsite. It has a small table for cooking/eating and a fire ring. There’s room here for 2 or 3 tents, although the ground is not exactly flat.
