Salem Farms Campground is located on 157 beautiful acres in rural Salem, Connecticut. We have a total of 189 campsites. Typical RV sites are about 40' x 50' and have water, electric (30& 50 amp sites available), gray water, cable and WIFI hook ups on site. We also have a dump station and honey wagon service and pull thru sites available. We offer rental trailers as well. All sites come with a picnic table, trash can and fire ring for use while staying with us. I went here with two of my coworkers for a relaxing weekend getaway. I'm use to the rough and tough it of backpacking the AT Trail so this place had quite a few amenities I am not use to! Haha. We stayed at a platform tent site and were able to park two vehicles on site but the grounds had plenty of parking not too far from the sites. Each of the sites had a large platform (enough room for one very large tent or 2-3 smaller tents), a fire pit, and picnic table. You are very close to your neighbor in this area but when we were there everyone was very respectful. There was potable water a short walking distance away as well as flushing toilets. There was a very large open grassy field for play/sports, a playground and life guarded portion of the lake for swimming. This location was very accesible to the Bish Bash Falls trail and even had a few side trails to explore. This place is very good for easing on first timers and there were quite a few children so those who are parents should consider this a great place to get kids involved in the outdoors as well. There were other accommodations such as RV hook ups, events, and rentals but we weren't there long enough to take adavatage of those. Overall a great experience and relatively cheap for what you get. I believe it was around $30 for two nights which was the minimum.

It took me a while to identify a campground that was convenient for exploring the Hyde Park area, in particular the FDR National Historic Site (20-30 minutes away) and the Walkway over the Hudson, but this campground also offers plenty to keep the whole family occupied. It was Christmas in July while I was there, with decorations and planned activities to accompany it. All these amenities do come at a price. This year the most basic site with water costs $46; add electric on up to sewer and cable tv and you'll pay as much as $60/night.
With that you get free wi-fi, a heated pool, a lake for fishing and boating, a game room and snack bar, movies, other sports, and the security of a gated entrance. That's great if you're a family looking for entertainment for your kids, but I spent so much of my days running around exploring the area that I didn't feel I got my money's worth. Sites are close, some are sunnier than others. I was below the bath house/rec hall, but wasn't disturbed by lights or noise (I was in a tent) except from my next door neighbors.
If you don't need all the amenities, check out state parks in the area, but if you've got kids and want full hook-ups, want a snack bar so you don't always have to cook, I doubt you could beat the offerings here at Interlake RV Park.

We love this KOA! I recommend if you were in the area to stop here and spend some time with Michael and his staff. There are plenty activities for everybody. They have a fire truck ride that brings you around the campsite and hay-less rides. There is a pool there is a playground there are games of all ages. If you’re in the area I recommend to stay they have 10 sites up to the large rigs with full hook ups.

Well-maintained campsite. Many of the sites were secluded. The role we were in was not shaded and the campsites were close together. Maybe because we had full hook ups.
We came to discover new bike trails and this one was close to the Hop bike trail which we enjoyed very much

The lady that checked us in was easy to talk to, explained the campgrounds then we were escorted to our site. The site was small but a pull thru, no problems at all, full hook up. There is a nice pool just getting ready to open we are here mid, May 14th we leave. There is horse shoes, shuffle board, basketball, play ground, swimming pond, fishing stream and fishing pond. Would recommend to my family and friends gladly. Beautiful area was once a large farm. Nicely kept grounds, dry stacked stone walls can be seen though out the campground. Yes, we would stay here again.

Well organized campground with both water front back in sites as well as large pull throughs. Pull through sites also have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are on top of the neighbors. Sites and roads are a pea gravel material and each site has large grassy areas around it. It was a quiet area with ponds and creeks and a generally relaxing setting. It has a clean playground and well maintained pool as well as some walking paths, large grassy areas, pavilion and volleyball court. All sites but one (#67) are full hook up. Some seasonal sites but all were tasteful and not trashy looking. We enjoyed the shade trees on our site (#3) and noticed many sites had similar trees, but the owner keeps them trimmed to not interfere when parking on your site. There is also a creek area for dog swimming. Our two labs loved it! Local kayaking areas and about 30 min to Foxwoods Casino, even closer to Mohegan Sun. Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium are also not too far. Nearby (5min drive) is also a fun looking place for mini golf. Will definitely be back!

We had really high hopes for this place based on all the glowing reviews, but boy were we disappointed. We pulled in and quickly learned that there must have been a weeks worth of dog poop all over our site. I had gone to the camp store to ask if they had a shovel to help me clean everything up, but they didn’t. My husband and I spent 35 minutes instead of setting up, picking up someone else’s dogs waste. Despite our efforts of clean up, we still couldn’t figure out the smell. Turns out, their dogs had also went all over the rocks and ledges leading to the stream.
We then noticed that our picnic table was less than a foot from our neighbors leaking septic dump and hose, which might have contributed to the rancid smell.
Live and learn right? We will just eat inside, but then we noticed that our fire pit was 6” away from the corner of our neighbors older motor home, which had exposed wood. While the friendly woman at the camp store encouraged us to have a fire anyways, (two of our planned meals required the fire) we opted not to, since we noticed cigarette butts and what was more dog waste in the fire pit itself.
We ended up really testing out the inside of our trailer, eating, hanging out, watching tv - not something we wanted to do this weekend. Luckily we had a scented candle stashed in the camper, so we closed up the windows and tent ends and tried to make the best of this. While the full hook ups were nice, it definitely wasn’t worth the smell or energy.
What saved the trip was the beautiful area and the awesome hiking trails.
Everyone was friendly despite the lack of maintenance and sanitary measures provided by the campground, and I do have to say it was nice and quiet all weekend, but maybe that was just because we were hauled up inside our camper. You can’t win them all, I think we will definitely be sticking to state campgrounds and forests... I’m really hoping we just got a bad site on an off weekend... :(

Most amazing weekend with tons of woods (privacy is huge for us). Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We’ve been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park. Every one of us had a great time with the perfect campsite deep in the woods (still able to park my 26’ camper trailer). Swimming pool, great playground, among lots of trails and wooded area surrounding almost every site. Best camping weekends we’ve ever had have been at Waters Edge.

We generally only stay in KOAs or similar RV parks when we need showers, laundry, or a dump station. This one was in a convenient location plus many campgrounds had not yet opened for the year when we were there. It had rained for a few days before our arrival and that did not help our first impression as we drove on the rutted and muddy road to our site. There was a sign that improvements are underway, but I am not sure what those planned improvements are and when they will be implemented.
On the plus side:
*Friendly and helpful staff. Not sure why when we are given a map an employee escorts us to our site but that is a KOA thing. Later an employee asked if I wanted help carrying our clothes to the laundry.
* Warm showers (but it did take a while for the water to get warm)
*Brand new pool that was uncovered but it was way too cold in April to use*Sites were spaced a decent amount of space apart (although there is little physical separation). This was helped by the fact that there was no one on either side of us during our stay.
*In season, there are many activities to occupy families (pool, playground, mini golf, daily firetruck rides, complimentary shuttle into the town of Niantic); however, we could not take advantage of most of these.
*Reasonably priced laundry, although the washing machines were smal, and it took two to do what should have been one load. However, the dryers give you 60 minutes so although it took longer to dry, I only had to use one.
On the negative side:
*Unmaintained roadways. The main one was once paved but has not been maintained; others were dirt (and mud after a rain)
*High price for what we received. Not sure if we received an off-season rate but at $87 per night for a water/electric site and not being able to take advantage of amenities seemed high.
*Allowing political flags to be displayed at sites. I understand that on private property, this can be allowed at the owner's discretion, but this was offensive to us.
Again, this is not our preferred type of camping. Initially, I struggled to give this two stars but once the rain stopped, our stay improved somewhat.

This is a really nice family campground just a mile or so off I-95 in Clinton, CT. It is about 20 miles from Mystic and the historic seaport center. Most of the roads are paved, the sites are large and level, there are full hookups, and a dump station. There are a lot of seasonal residents, but still plenty of open sites for travelers. There is a playground, game room, “adult ” lounge, a laundry, a swimming pond, and river access for fishing and swimming. Internet is an extra fee! ($6/day) The road into the campground is narrow and winding, so larger RV mss as y have trouble, but there were several of them there when we were there. There is a security gate at the entrance.
TravelerCant give this any higher then 2 stars. We spent three months there and for the first two the mens showers were not cleaned. There was band aids on the floor by the rubber mat that sat there for way to long. The internet was horribly slow and kept dropping connections. This is an RV park, they advertise internet so you would figure it would work. The owner of the park was a bit rude. Washer and dryers were iffy on the days they worked.
Now that the bad is out of the way. The good, they had activities for the kids on weekends and holidays. They are close to local beaches and hiking trails. Our site was roomy and for the most part all functioned as it was supposed to.

Close to 84, so a convenient one night stop for us. The hosts are nice and helpful. The pond is warm water and seemed clean enough. The beach had several canoes and kayaks free for guests to use. We enjoyed paddling around. The campground is kind if a random mix of full time, seasonal, and overnight people. There aren't any real private spots for rvs or trailers, but a few tent spots looked nice. Some of the full time/seasonal campers looked shady, and the trash dumpsters were overflowing significantly. Some of the seasonal spots on the lake were really nice though, with docks even. The camp store is large with plenty of stuff. There are horshoe pits and a basketball court as well. Our site was right on the pond and playground, which was nice, but had no privacy or shade. The place has a pleasant feel despite some imperfections.
LegendLet me just start off by saying we did stay at the end of the season so the campground was quiet… But this is a stunning park and totally worth a stop if you’re traveling via hwy 84! They had such great customer service and the amenities are on point. 2 separate ponds: one for fishing, one for swimming; large outdoor games; Rec hall with video games, 50¢ pool table, live music; volleyball; boat rentals; and even a baseball diamond! (We picture kickball more than baseball happening here) Facilities were east to use and clean. Sites were wide open and easy to access, my only complaint being that they offer “full hookups” but you’re told to just leave your grey tanks open. We chose to wait and dump on our way out. If you’re a pet owner, you’ll absolutely love the dog run!
RangerI'll be honest. This was my first RV camping experience. This KOA Niantic CT location is about 2 hours from home. It was the perfect place (not far from home) to practice. The checkin was quick and organized, the rules were clear the hosts were very organized and the staff were attentive. They give every family a free newspaper every day. The price was definitely fair for unlimited wi-fi, electricity and water. There is an on-site store for convenience. The nearest grocery store was in another town more than 5 miles away.
Fellow campers were respectful and went about their own business. The facilities were kept tidy including the baths and showers. I was pleasantly surprised. The best part of this campground was the proximity to the state beach via a well kept hiking trail. We learned a lot about camping and each time we will get better and better.
My only regret is we didn't have a car. Some sites were a bit too far or too dangerous to bicycle (the roads were curvy and didn't have much of a shoulder) so we spent money on Uber/Lyft to visit a few local sites for example to rent kayaks to explore the inlet and river.
I was happy with my experience and I'd definitely go again.

It’s camping and kids can’t ride bikes safely. The pool for a campground this size is VASTLY undersized. They made the roads so narrow to squeeze in so many sites, it’s almost impossible to navigate an rv through, even for experienced rvers. The sheer armada of golf carts constantly going up and down the road make you feel like you’re camping on a highway instead of in nature. The constant sound reminds me of being near the antique car ride all day long at a theme park. My kids were almost hit on their bikes twice by golf carts and the actual cars FLY on the roads. This was definitely a one and done trip for us.

This is one of our favorite camping spots. It’s close to NYC and has secluded, wooded sites nestled amongst big boulders. I have camped here in all seasons including early winter when all other places were closed. Cute trails for easy strolls around a pond with beavers.. no hookups and not many RVs. No playgrounds, and kids have to figure out how to amuse themselves in woods filled with chipmunks lots of places to hide. Shhh. Keep it quiet.
GuideMy husband I camped here for a weekend getaway and we wanted hookups being it was Columbus Day Weekend. This is a parking lot with grass. The Men’s room was so disgusting that my husband refused to use it, actually he couldn’t ( there is a camper who is a dirty bird) which is not a good first impression. This is a residential park with older travel trailer residences. There was a nice back field area. The shower houses and toilets are very dated. I like to proximity to the city of North Hampton. We had great meals in town. The staff here is great, the other campers were nice. They had a Halloween/trick or treat night, fire truck rides it’s very kid friendly. We didn’t like being right on top the other rvs, our sewer pipe was in front of my neighbors picnic table. There was 30/50 amps, water and electric and WiFi! This campground is “in the country” plenty is sightseeing and hiking opportunities in the area.

Mixed reviews. Pros: State park is in a beautiful part of the country - the Hudson River Valley - with a good location for visiting the towns, villages and hamlets on the valley. State park also has a good hiking trail network with trailheads connecting to the campground. Cons: the campground itself needs some work. There’s only one bath house with just a few showers and toilets. It’s in pretty bad shape - dirty, bad drainage, and sometimes backed up toilets. I found one other restroom house in the park and the doors were boarded up and locked. The campsites are okay - mostly tent sites. Some are better than others. There are only a handful of sites with electric hookups and only one (site 51) is level. Some have a steep descent off the road, abs there’s a lip on the road that can scrape bottom of campers/RVs. This happened to our neighbor and it took out his RV sewer system, which will be not only a hassle but a costly repair. Back to pros: the campground and state park is nicely forested with beautiful tall trees. Everyone we met was very nice. Lots of families having a good time. We stayed here for 9 days in July 2021. Campground is empty during the week, and more crowded on weekends. We would return here if in this area again, but the state park & campground needs some upgrades.

This is a large seasonal oriented campground. The staff was not well trained and or not oriented to short term campers. There was no WiFi service as advertised and cell service was poor. Sites are close together. The whole campground was dominated by seasonal campers. There was not full service sewer hook up, only gray water. There was a dump station.
GuideI’m more of a quite, in-the-middle-of-nowhere kind of camper, so I tend to shy away from commercial campgrounds, but it was easier for me to commute from the KOA than from home when work was crazy because of COVID and I stayed for a few months- July til October. It is a nice campground, no complaints. I was in the seasonal section, which has some interesting folks staying there. The site was very nice and felt private. I like the reliability of KOAs, and I pretty know what I’m going to get when I book.

I’ve lived in CT all my life but never used the Rocky Neck State Park Campground until now.
The campgrounds are named after water fowl: Crane, Egret, Osprey, Heron etc...We stayed in Egret. We camped at site #4 (sunny) then moved to #38 (shady).
Both spots were quiet, music low and people minded their business. Equal mix of RVs big and small as well as many tents.
Bathhouses and toilets were not as cleaned as I would have liked but passable. Coronavirus social distancing required.
Sites include one paved parking spot (ours was very muddy) a fire pit and a picnic table. No water or electric hookup. Wi-fi not available at this campground. Fire wood is sold at camp office. There is no store in park - no ice either.
A lot of you children. Short walk to Rock Neck beach. Nature Center has movies on weekends for kids.
Anyone with kayaks can’t easily get to boat launch. It’s 4-5 miles by car at 4 mile river boat launch. See photos.
