Cutty's Resort - Hayden Creek

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Kids and families keep coming back to Cutty's Resort, drawn by an on-site lineup that includes two pools (indoor and outdoor), mini golf, basketball, tennis, volleyball, horseshoes, karaoke, and organized activities like crafts and science classes run by staff. A stream runs through the property, and mountain views open up from the campsites. The resort sits in a remote stretch of the Arkansas River valley near Coaldale Campground, with Salida roughly 30 minutes away for gas, groceries, and resupply.

Sites are spacious with tree cover throughout, though reviewers note that privacy between sites is limited and some spots can be unlevel. Shade is plentiful, which also means cooler nights, so bring layers. Creekside sites are a draw, but biting flies have been noted there in season. No cell service reaches the property, which some campers consider a feature and others, particularly teenagers, find frustrating.

The facilities are dated but consistently described as clean and well-maintained. A small on-site store carries ice and firewood, and campers should note that bringing outside wood is not permitted. The mess hall serves food on site. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer make this a workable base for RVs. "Quiet, clean, and plenty of things to explore," notes Alana J. after two visits. Campers looking for nearby dispersed alternatives can compare campgrounds near Coaldale or check out Hayden Creek Roadside Camp for a quieter, no-frills stay in the same drainage. Reservations are available and recommended for summer weekends.

Great All Around

We had a great time. Our family and another reserved two sites next to each other. The pools on site were perfect for the kids. On site mini golf was a blast. The views in the campground were awesome. Aside from the aforementioned, there was a small store on site with ice and wood (can't bring your own wood) and the food they served at the mess hall was fire.

Lots to do

We stayed in the spring of 2021. They have lots of outdoor activities on site: mini golf, tetherball, swimming pool, play areas, cornhole, etc. Wonderful location with a peaceful stream running through it. Also an indoor pool and arcade games. Periodic bbq for sale. Many nature trails on public land nearby. Can’t wait to go back.

Good family campground

Nice older campground in remote mountain area. Not really resort quality. Basic restroom, nothing modern. I like the sites that are creekside but watch out for biting flies.

There's a lot for kids to do-  pool, mini golf, game room. No cell service so teens not happy about this.

Perfect

In between mountains, tall pines and rivers, does camping get any better? Close to everything you need but you will feel away from it all.

Remote River Campground

Cutty's is a good place if you have kids.  They have mini golf, a pool, a basketball court, and a game room.  All are a tiny bit rundown but who cares-you're camping!  The showers/bathrooms are also old-but clean which is all that really matters!  Campground is remote, it's about 30 minutes to drive to town Salida.  Very cute bigger town with gas, groceries etc.  Cute main street.  Road into the campground was dirt and a bit washboard.

Our cons were simply that the sites were close-no real privacy.  Our particular site was pretty unlevel but that's not the campground's fault.  If you're looking for shade-this place has trees galore-but that also means it gets chilly at night so be aware!

Good commercial campsite

We had a good time, plenty of activities, pools, putt-putt, hiking, they had young staff that organized hands on crafts and science experiment classes for all the kids to participate in who were staying that weekend. One class was the kids making alka seltzer rockets

Rustic Mountain Charm

This was our third group Campout at Cutty's and we had a blast. We liked it so much we just decided to meet everyone at Cutty's during the same week in August each year. This was the first time we did karaoke and it was a hoot. The kids always had something to do with 2 pools, basketball, tennis, put put, hikes and horse shoes. The facilities are dated but in good condition. The campsites are spacious and there are trees everywhere. The mountain views aren't to bad either. I can't forget to mention the staff. They are so friendly and work to make your stay enjoyable. Be sure to stay here if you get a chance.
