Sugarbush Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Sugarbush Campground, a drive-in facility along Highway 50 in Howard, Colorado, with full hookups for RVs up to 40 feet and a separate tent camping section. Sites are level and laid out with fine gravel rather than large rock, which reviewers note is easier on tent floors. The campground sits close to the highway, so sites near the front pick up road noise, while those toward the back stay noticeably quieter and more wooded. A creek running through the property helps buffer sound for some sites.

Facilities are a consistent highlight across reviews. Showers, toilets, laundry, and a dump station are all on-site, and multiple visitors describe the facilities as clean and well-maintained. Cell coverage is limited, with Verizon largely absent and AT&T spotty, but the campground provides Wi-Fi. Staff responsiveness comes up repeatedly in reviews. Pets are allowed, and campfires are permitted. Reviewers also flag bear activity in the area, so food storage awareness applies here.

Matt describes the back of the property as "wooded and quiet near the back," a useful detail for campers who want separation from highway traffic. A general store across Highway 50 sells coffee, snacks, and firewood. Salida, roughly 20 minutes away, provides full resupply options and access to the Arkansas River corridor for fishing and whitewater. Campers wanting a different setup nearby can look at Rocky Top River Ranch to the north or Pleasant Valley RV Park a short distance east.

Wonderful Little Campground

Great little spot to stay. No cell service via Verizon; very spotty with AT&T. But good, fast Wi-Fi is available. Wooded and quiet near the back. Fair amount of road noise closer to the front. There’s a cool little general store across Hwy 50 from the campground.

Great Basecamp

Sites are close together but very nice and level, plus there isn’t large gravel which is a lot easier on the tent. The facilities and laundry room were clean. So much to do in this area makes it an excellent choice. Salida is one of the coolest towns inColorado !

Wonderful

Ok, so I'm going to share a brief backstory before I review. We traveled roughly 4 days to a different campground only to find it was NOTHING like its description. In a panic we went looking for somewhere else to go. We found this gem. Not only is it incredibly affordable, it's also beautiful w large sites w gorgeous landscaping done by the fabulous Lilly (owner). She may be the very best perk of all. I stopped in hoping she could help. She not only accommodated our needs, but so incredibly helpful. She is a joy! If you're looking for a lovely, safe, and enjoyable place to visit Lilly has you covered. I cannot recommend this place more.

Cute campground with wifi and showers

We were slow to find a campsite for the night and we were lucky enough to happen upon this place. There were a lot of RVs, although since we were tent camping there is plenty of room on that side of the park as well. They were showers, Wi-Fi, toilets, and firewood available. It was all a very good price as well. The worker we spoke with was very nice and helpful. She did mention that there had been some recent bear activity at the site. There’s also a nice little general store that sells coffee and snacks across the street. If you were needing more items Salida is only about a 20 minute drive.

Absolutely great

Clean and very comfortable. The creek that runs through the sites drown out any highway noise. Easy 5 minute run to fishing access. Very family friendly.
