This US Forest Service campground operates seasonally from May through September along the Poudre River in Roosevelt National Forest, with sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. The access road can be rough, particularly after weather events, but accommodates larger RVs once campers navigate the initial approach.
Sites spread along the riverbank offer direct water access, with several reviewers noting how children enjoy playing near the shore. Albert A. found the campground "very quiet, even when full," while the constant sound of flowing water provides a natural backdrop that some campers need time to adjust to. Sites feature adequate spacing between neighbors, with some offering more seclusion than others.
Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage box. Clean vault toilets receive regular maintenance from camp hosts who make multiple daily rounds. Drinking water is available on-site, and firewood can be purchased. The campground prohibits pets, which contributes to the calm atmosphere many visitors appreciate.
River access makes this a popular spot for fishing and wading. Teeny B. describes it as having "easy access no hookups, clean toilets, and good sized sites." The campground fills quickly during peak summer weekends and holidays, so arriving early increases chances of securing a riverside spot.
For campers wanting additional amenities, Mountain Park Campground sits less than a mile east with different site configurations.
