Cherry Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful state park. Great for a day or two. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained.

First time camping here. The Gold Rush loop is all full hookups. We stayed in Site 95 and had no trouble fitting our 29’ Class C, tow dolly, and towed vehicle.

There are multiple facilities in the campground that have hot showers and flush toilets. The building closest to the campground office also has a laundry that works via coins or pay via app, $2 per load.

Easy access to the sand beach on Cherry Creek reservoir, plenty of hiking and biking trails, and close proximity to Aurora, Centennial, and the greater Denver metro area. We would definitely stay here again.

Cherry Creek State Park offers a variety of activities including water sports and a sand beach. The campground has tent and RV sites including full hookups.

We stayed in Site #95 which is a great private spot on the Gold Rush loop. The campground offers multiple bath houses as well as a laundry that is coin operated as well as available via an app at $2 per wash.

Easy check in beautiful sites but the highway noise was a bit of a distraction. We would definitely recommend and come again.

Great Campground, Incredible Dog Park

Very pretty campground with tidy tent spots and on-site bathrooms, showers for rent, and laundry. Very easy to access even from the RTD bus stop.

Only two complaints, I.) there is no walking access into the park so if you’re walking/biking in you’ll be hugging the side of a road and II.) there is significant car noise from the highway at the camp sites.

Although it was a quick overnight trip for us, don’t let that be you! It’s we’ll thought out with lots of activity areas like, mountain bike trail, shooting area, off leash dog area, model airfield, equestrian trails, lake and hiking trails! It’s a 4200 acre park with 850 acre reservoir. It’s a destination, really!

We stayed here for one night before heading back out on the road. This place is huge and has many amenities. It’s very well maintained. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were pay only and only with a bank card. $1.50 for a five minute shower. There is also an $11 day pass fee not included in your camping stay. There were full hookups. The sights were concrete and level. It was a little pricey, but we would stay again when visiting family, because there is definitely a lot to do!

What can I say it has everything you want need and desire. Woke up with dear outside my RV. Well maintained all things working the way they should. My only complaint is that they are always booked. With all that space they should expand and get more sites ready to go.

Pretty state park next to a reservoir in a convenient part of Denver.

I stayed here with a boy scout troop.  The park itself is nice and well organized.  Campsites are spaced out and all amenities are available depending on what type of site you stay at - RV or Tent.  The only drawback for me is that it's in the middle of town and it feels like that to me.  If you want to stay somewhere inside town then it's perfect for you.

I did see some wildlife when I was here - wild owls and deer.  And I've seen bald eagles in this park before as well.

Beautiful grounds, awesome swim beach, and the restroom/showers are in a nice clean building. It’s pretty urban though, so even though you can’t see the road, you can still hear cats.

We stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed the campground and the park. Huge sites and well maintained. Facilities were clean. Staff were all very nice. Be careful in downtown Denver, my truck/tow vehicle was stolen in broad daylight while we ate at a restaurant. The campground rangers and hosts was very nice and put us in an overflow site while we figured out how to continue on the road.

This park and it's campground are very close to the city, but you'd barely know it. The perfect sort of camping for anyone who still wants amenities, lol.  Easy to get to, but still very natural surroundings, wildlife etc... The camp sites have a fair amount of space. Level paved spaces with full hookups and nice bathrooms.

I have been going to CCSP my entire life being a native. For us it’s a good place for a beginning summer shake down. Expect very long lines to get in on the weekends. Very heavy boat traffic. You will want to get in the boat ramp line by 6:00 am. The camp sites are very well maintained, showers, bathrooms clean. This is urban camping. However within the park you will feel far from the city. I only gave it 4 stars because on the outskirts of the state park we have a lot of homeless camps popping up oblong Parker road and 225. I don’t think I would do any trail riding that leads out side of the park for that reason.

I usually hate full hookup sites because they pack everyone in so tightly. Not here! The full hookup sites are very spacious and surrounded by grass (or weeds - at least green) and trees.

The park itself is huge and has miles of bike trails that then connect to trail systems outside of the park.

This location is in Denver. Cherry Creek State Park has a nice lake, fishing areas, a bike trail looping the entire lake, and several activities. A robust visitors program and center, plus full hook-up spots, make this an easy getaway. The campground is well-treed and sits near the lake. A bike trail connects the campground to the visitors center and beach area (on opposite sides of the road). Picnic areas and fishing-specific areas are found on this side of the lake as well. The campsites offer grass, paved pull-throughs, and big trees. The campground was full while we were there. We attended a program to learn more about the park and enjoyed it. We went swimming at the beach and played in the sand. Several locals spend the day grilling and enjoying the sunshine here. They have a marina that interestingly has sailing lessons and rents boats. Each campsite has a fire ring and table and was raked when we arrived. A large lightening and thunder storm occurred during our visit (not surprising for June). The area is flat, so water pooled around the camper and on the paved roads and brought some crazy clouds. The park trails connect to a trail that leads to Castlewood Canyon State Park in Castle Rock as well (for those who want a good ride). We will be staying here again and enjoying their amenities which include full showers/flush toilets, laundry room, park visitors center (they sell ice cream) and a relaxing "beach" environment in Denver. For people who are first timers I think this park will be a great way to start. It has flushable toilets, showers and even laundry. If you forget the buns or the ketchup you can drive 10 minutes to the closest store(Walmart) or even closer the gas station. I’m not a beginner but we took some friends there for their first time and they forgot a bunch of stuff but we lived around the corner so they drove home to get what they needed. It’s kind of secluded by the trees. They have separate areas for RVs and tent camping. If you like primitive camping, quiet and don’t like to see a lot of people, then this park is not for you. I will totally recommend it for beginners or people who like their commodities and for those who can’t go a day without taking showers 😁

9/25/2020 Pros: this could be a long list but I will give the top pros. Very easy to find, very easy to check in and easy to access sites, back in or pull through. The entire park is very well kept. Sites a spaced apart no crowding. Beautiful cottonwood trees turning colors. Big rigs this is the place for you.

Cons: Have not found any yet.

Just bought our adventure van and decided to try it close to home so we could understand how everything worked. The campground is clean and quiet, I made a quick stop in the facilities and everything was well maintained. I didn’t love the campground feel ... I felt like I was very close to other campers. Now that I know our camper van is in complete working order, we will be doing more dispersed camping - trying to get away from it all - isn’t that what camping is all about?

The park was much bigger than I thought. The sites are decently spread out but this park is always packed due to it’s close proximity to Denver so I would recommend reserving ahead of time. There are lots of biking/hiking trails that mostly cover the area around the reservoir. The “beach” area was my favorite. The water was cool and felt great back in August when the days were excruciatingly hot.

The bathrooms were clean but showers are coin operated so bring quarters (some of their change machines weren’t working). It was $1.25 for 6 minutes of hot water. Depending on which shower stall you choose you may get great water pressure or you may get one that dribbles. Coin operated laundry is available (indoor) and the machines are clean and well maintained.

This is definitely a great place to get out of the city for a couple days. Bonus points if you have a boat and can take full advantage of the reservoir.

The facilities at this state park are really nice. Relatively level and paved spots, big rig friendly, full hookups at sites, and laundry and wifi on site but it's not the prettiest or most secluded campground. There's a lake and lots of trails for biking or hiking and I think it popular getaway for locals. We did see lots of deer and a great horned owl which was cool. You can definitely hear the highway and are close to any amenity you could need. About a 35 minute drive from downtown to explore. It's a bit expensive with a daily fee on top of camping fees. We were happy to snag a spot as it's one of the closest and nicest options to explore Denver in an RV but wasn't wowed.

Fairly spread out sites but very little shade. Full hookups but Colorado price increase and state park access fees are nuts! Each site has a concrete parking pad, but for some inexcusable reason they're very NOT level.

For a park that is almost right in the city this place is really awesome... the SUP is fun but if the wind picks up it’s tough.

This CG is very well maintained... It is a state park and like others has great maintained camp grounds with full hookups, dump site, and many recreational activities.  It is in the center of the city, but aside from the traffic on the dam in the distance you would not realize it.  Sites are clean, level, have fire-pits and picnic tables... you can choose loops with hookups or without... Most sites do not offer a lot of shade, but some have a few trees.  The reservoir is the main activity draw (beach, boating, fishing) but there are plenty of trails also in the park to bike/walk.  Because of its proximity to Denver Metro it is very busy in the Summer season.

This is a location that you only camp if you literally don't have any worries about being around people. It is ALWAYS packed due to the tons of hiking trails, huge dog park, and water access. 

I taught kayaking to little ones here and it was always a fight to get into the park, get to the water, and not get run over by boats and unexperienced (or entitled) people. 

The campground is well maintained but it sit really worth being able to be basically in a metropolitan city? For me I'll go somewhere more nature friendly and less crowded. 

BUT it is excellent for dogs. We love taking out dogs here because they can play in water, run their hearts out, and hang out with other dogs. It is pricey to get into the park though. $80 for a year pass to the state parks and another $25 for the dog park fees.

What a great spot to spend the day. Traveled to Colorado from NJ and this is spot is really breathtaking and relaxing.
