Ok overnight

We were looking forward to our first stay near June Lake. Oh Ridge was ok. We were in the Rabbit loop, site 57 with a partial mountain view. The sites are very close together with little privacy. Flush toilets in the loop were clean. From the nearby squirrel loop one can walk to June lake. No hiking near the campground. However we drove off in the morning and hiked the Parker Lake trail. If you only want to fish or do lake activities this campground may be ok for you. It was not our thing.

Scenic views throughout the campground

I had always wanted to camp in the Inyo national forest. Oh ridge was on my list and I was able to finally make the trip. It was a hefty drive from the Central Valley but the views were stunning. The mountainous route was sketchy but arriving to June lake was amazing! Our campsite was awesome, site 6 in bear loop. You can see the lake perfectly from our site. There’s bathrooms and an easy short drive to the town. From our site we drove down to June lake which was short and easy. You could technically walk but I don’t recommend it if you don’t like walking uphill. The lake is cold but beautiful!

Niiice Campground with beautiful Lake View

We’ve camped in Oh Ridge twice already and we have loved it! Both times we stayed in I believe Bear 17 site. Oh Ridge has flush toilets no showers but coin showers next door, next to the market. You can literally walk to June Lake.

Amazing view

The spot itself is amazing, just next to the lake and with the mountains in the background.

The campground itself is maybe less amazing. They do not have showers, you’ll need to go to the campground next to it. The showers there are very bad, and you’ll be lucky if they work on the first try (coin operated).

The campground is quite cramped and fairly noisy.

There is lots of wildlife around though. They said a ber was wandering around the camp at night, and within 15 minutes of us arriving we saw countless squirrels and several deers

Great views and location

Beautiful campground near Yosemite. If you plan on visiting Yosemite you MUST have a reservation to enter between 6am-4pm during the peak season.

The campground has bear boxes at every site, they are all pretty flat it’s close to the June Lake Beach. The views are amazing and the bathrooms all have running water (no sticky vault toilets). I’ve stayed here 4 times and will return again.

One thing to be aware of, keep your car doors closed when you’re not using them immediately. I had a squirrel jump into my car when I was loading it up and walked out the trash can, if found my bag of trail mix and was helping itself to it when I returned.

Beautiful but windy with little natural shelter

Beautiful area, but it was SUPER windy while we were there. Be prepared to heavily secure your tent, etc. Our site had very little shade and when it wasn't windy, it was hot! (Probably the national heat wave that hit the whole west coast) Some of the sites have views of June Lake and all of the sites were well spaced apart.

Great! But be aware of the drawbacks!

PROS: Beautiful!, Easy access to purchasable firewood, Bear Boxes at every site, well kept bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks, wind guards at some sites, near a lake, amazing starry night sky, general store nearby, Shell & Mobile Gas nearby, showers & laundry nearby

CONS/WARNINGS: Very cold & windy (it snowed in June and the wind knocked over our very secure tent), Campsites fairly close together, 2-6hours from Yosemite depending on time of year and where you are hiking so if this is the closest campsite you can get to Yosemite (which was our situation) prepare to spend at least 4 hours a day driving

Note: we encountered noise issues due to inconsiderate campers 2/4 nights we were there (some weren’t even nearby) so be prepared to complain if this bothers you because there are Quiet Hours from 10PM-6AM

One of my favorites

I really enjoy this campsite. I believe it has over 100 sites, and they are pretty spaced out. I never felt on top of my neighbor. There’s some trees so you’ll have to search for a good shaded site. Every time I’ve been out there it’s been on the colder side so the sun was never an issue. The site is popular so I wasn’t able to book a spot last year. June lake is walking distance which is nice. However last year it was so packed. I like that the tiny town of June lake is right down the street and mammoth is only about 30 minutes away.

Lots of deer

This was our second time this summer. Camped in Fish loop. Typical spots, happy this time we didn’t have any RV’s next to us running generators. This is my only complaint, that they mix up the tents with RV’s. We got to see many deer up close. Came to our site to eat.

Great location next to June Lake

We stayed here one night and even though the campground was mostly full they were so kind to help us find an open tent site! I loved the location in proximity to June Lake, it's easily walkable to the lake, has great views and nice open sites. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is little coverage in most sites, so in the summer you're really exposed to lots of sun and wind, but it's nice that the sites are spread out and close to bathrooms. Honestly, we drove around the June Lake, Gull Lake and Reversed Peak campgrounds and while the first two were right on water, the sites were not very nice and were right on top of each other. I liked that Oh Ridge was a lot more spacious, was still walkable to the lake and was central to the June Lake village. Make sure you rent a boat or kayak from June Lake Marina, they are so friendly and it's a great way to chill on the lake. Super clean and good cell phone service on AT&T and around the lake.

Close to June Lake and clean bathrooms

I’ve stayed here many times with my extended family because it’s conveniently located to the lake, usually no bears, and you can see many stars at night. Some sites have shade from trees but others (like ours) had no shade so it got very hot. The bathrooms were very clean but I think that was because of COVID-19. There are a few coin operated showers at the front entrance and campgrounds near there that I use a lot.

There is a beach but in the summer it gets VERY crowded.

Closest camping to the lake

Epic views of June lake. Can get very busy during summer months. Spaces are on a hill overlooking the lake. They have water and dump station near entrance. 30$ a night or 15 with golden age access pass
