This is a good location to explore LA and greater LA area, 45 min to Hollywood sign. Park is a large TT resort with recently remolded lodge in 2019. Great place to stay if you are a TT member road to resort is windy and narrow but easily manageable with larger RVs. The town of Acton is small rural town with a few stores. The area appears to be a flash flood area with heavy rains. We enjoyed our stay and mainly used it as a base camp to explore/ sight see LA. Does offer all the amenities TT resort park typically offer, but it is a TT so expect something to be out of order/closed such as laundry, pool or at least one amenity, but I have come to realize that is one of the bargain trade offs of TT membership.
The Joshua Trees, the sunsets, the sunrises! All so peaceful and beautiful. Absolutely nobody around and we weren’t bothered by any animals either.
Slept in the car and temperatures reached as low as 32 F but with the right equipment we were able to stay warm. Heats up quick in the morning!
This is an easy, safe, and fun stop with the family. It’s right on top of Pacific Coast Highway and has a beautiful view of the ocean!
Bummer is that no campfires are ever allowed, unless it’s a propane fire pit, and no dogs on the beach or trails (even if leashed).
We went twice in October and got day of spots each time. Rangers were friendly and helpful.
Met great people and walked the beach a mile down to the Shake Shack. Very fun.
We really enjoyed this campsite. We did go from Sunday through Wednesday and not only was it not crowded but it was nearly empty. Apparently the weekends are quite full.
We stayed in campsite 108 (which had full hookups) and did not feel that the campsites were too close to one another. There were other campers there when we arrived but by Tuesday we had the whole area to ourselves.
Each campsite has a nice picnic table and fire pit with a grill.
We brought our bikes but there was not a whole lot of area to go bike riding. A bit too hilly for us to ride over to the boat launch area but we did drive over there to see the sights.
All of the staff here are incredibly nice and helpful. We spoke to many of them and they seem genuinely happy that people are there. The bathroom facilities were immaculate.
Rangers are eager to answer questions and I learned a bit about the bald eagles in the area from one of them.
T-Mobile cellular signal was fine. No Wi-Fi.
We will definitely go back!
Nice campground Very family oriented Great for kids to play, run and ride their bikes all day long Walking distance to the beach Convenient store located in campground Closest grocery store is about 10 minutes away
Lots of Rats at night Make sure you bring rodent repellent
Good backpacking camping spot. There is usually a stream for filtering water. Plenty of sites for camping. Usually quiet when not too many people around. There was a loud group when we were there once since it is a doable hike from Red Box Junction. Trail leading to the camp can also be filled with downed trees. Takes a little climbing and going around obstacles but not too bad. Pit toilets.
