Sitting at the base of Mount Shasta and open from April through October, Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort is a large, privately managed campground set within a mixed conifer forest along the shores of Lake Siskiyou. Sites are spacious, shaded by fir and pine, and the camp includes full hookups for RVs, water and electric at individual sites, and a dump station. Campers with tents get fire pits fitted with cooking grates. No bear boxes are provided, so food storage in vehicles is necessary, and wasps can be a nuisance during summer months.
The resort functions more like a lakeside destination than a traditional campground. On the water, rentals include kayaks, paddleboards, paddleboats, and pontoon boats, with a 5 mph speed limit keeping the lake manageable for swimmers and paddlers alike. A roped swim area with a sandy beach sits within walking distance of most sites, and an inflatable water park operates by the hour. There is also a store, a restaurant and bar with occasional live music, an ice cream shop, and a laundromat. "The bathrooms and showers were pretty clean, nice and hot with good water pressure," notes Ambra V., though at least one reviewer found the facilities in need of updating.
Crowd levels vary noticeably by season. Summer weekends draw groups and families, with sites nearest the water filling first. Campers who prefer more space tend to find it by booking farther from the lake. Visiting in October, Gabriel M. found it "very quiet, not too crowded this time of year." Bear activity warnings are posted on site. Reservations are available and recommended for peak season.
The town of Mount Shasta sits a few miles away, with access to restaurants, supplies, and trailheads. Those interested in camping near Mount Shasta have several options in the area, including Siskiyou Beach and Camp to the northwest and the Dispersed Campsite near Castle Lake and Shasta for a quieter alternative. Nearby trails connect to the broader Shasta region, and the Bunny Flat trailhead on Mount Shasta is roughly a 30-minute drive. This resort works best for families, RV travelers, and groups who want lake access and on-site amenities without straying far from town.
