Dam Quarry Campground is an angler's paradise. Located in northern Arkansas, just downstream of the Norfork Dam, the campground is renowned for its world-class trout fishing. The Norfork Lake region was one of the state's first water recreation areas with opportunities like water skiing, canoeing, scuba diving, and of course, fishing.
While fishing is the top-rated activity in the lower river area, kayaking, birding and hiking are also very popular. The public land around Norfork keeps hunters busy with white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, rabbit and quail.

Robinson Point is one of the most popular parks in the central portion of Norfork Lake. The 102 campsites are sprawled across two peninsulas, so waterfront campsites are plentiful. The hilly lake region is a playground for visitors young and old, with water and land activities galore.
Swimming, hiking and all types of boating are favorite pastimes for lake-goers. Coves are ideal for water skiers while the breezy, open areas provide excellent conditions for sailing. In-season hunting is also popular here.
Norfork Lake, a 22,000-acre recreation lake, stems from the North Fork River in northern Arkansas. The lake is about 25 miles east of Bull Shoals Lake, and cuts through the Ozark Mountains. The Ozarks Range, in geological terms, is a heavily eroded plateau. It was shaped and carved by hundreds of streams over several thousand years, creating beautiful rugged terrain.
Head south to the Ozark National Forest to explore 1.2 million acres of protected Ozark terrain. There, visitors can tour the Blanchard Springs Caverns, a living cave still in the process of formation.

What it's like....
The campground has sites available for camper/RVs, tents, and also has six platform tents that you can rent to sleep at. The platform tents have electricity available in the tents, but thats about it. The platform tents are pretty big and they do have cots, chairs, tables, inflatable mattresses, etc.. available to rent if you want to up your platform tent experience. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, and there is access to a dump station for the RVs and campers. They have an onsite general store that has about everything you could want from sandwiches to spark plugs you should be able to find what you need. There are also some disc golf holes set up, a basketball goal, and a "hammock city" area in the middle of the primitive campsites. The bathrooms are pretty magical with access to 25 cent/min showers and the campground even has WIFI, which isn't a reason to go camping, but when you don't have any cell service it comes in pretty handy.
What to do....
The campground is located about 10 miles north of the Boxley Valley in Arkansas which has some of the best hiking and canoeing you will find in the US. If you like to canoe or kayak and you haven't been on the Buffalo National River, you are truly missing out on one of the most scenic rivers out there. There are also ton's of hiking trails many taking you to the various waterfalls in the region. If you are stumped on which trails to go on my two go-to hikes in the area are the "Lost Valley Trail" and the "Whittaker Point (Hawks Bill Crag) Trail". Both are pretty accessible to all and will not disappoint.
What I thought....
I've been to the area before so I knew the hiking / waterfall chasing would be amazing, and it was, but I had never heard about the campground before. I was more than pleased with campground. Everyone we ran into who worked there was extremely helpful and I could not have been more impressed by the cleanliness of the park and its amenities. I was especially impressed by by the bathrooms at the grounds and that the campgrounds had WIFI. The only reason I gave this campground a 4/5 and not 5/5 was how close it was to the highway. Being in the middle of know-where helped keep the traffic down at night, but if there was anyone passing you were going to hear it. Regardless, I would 100% go back and probably do so pretty soon and take the whole family.

The campground and the shower house/bathrooms were very nice and clean. The site we had was on a hill so I wouldn’t pick that one again.Most are flat. They have a yurt that you can rent and a deck with a heavy duty tent over it close to the water. If you want to walk nearby and get in the water it is rocky so bring your water shoes! There is a marina store nearby if you need something. We would camp here again.

Camping at Dogwood Springs Campground in Arkansas was amazing! The owner was so full of hospitality and worked around our schedule! They have showers and toilets for free which kind of made me feel like I was at a hotel. He also gave us a good price on the crash pads when we rented them to go climb at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch!

Ccampground is always a favorite! Running water and electricity at the sites. A bit disappointed with no flushing potties or showers this year due to maintenance.
Hinking trails are abundant... check out Panther Creek or the old mining town Rush!

RangerStayed here on a motorcycle trip in May 2018 and had some beautiful weather. The campsite was large with an asphalt path and a nice spot for my tent. First weekend in May and the park was pretty much full. My campsite close to the facilities. It was a nice state park campground, similar to all of the others in Missouri as far as amenities. Cell phone service and lots of walking paths. Close to lakes, the Arkansas border, and Branson was just 15 minutes away.

This is a wonderful small campground. Will not handle large rigs. Better suited to smaller trailers or tents. Right on the water so it is great if you have a kayaks or similar. Arkansas is experiencing flooding at this time and we were fortunate that our site was not flooded. We are gets more rain this evening and tonight so many sites here are closed. This is a COE campground and very well maintained. Flush toilets and garbage service but no showers. Not a problem because there are other CIE campgrounds very close and just keep your yellow tag up and just wave to host and drive on in. Mountain Home is close do all the shopping is close.

I am extremely disappointed with our recent stay at Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park in Ponca, Arkansas. After a 7.5-hour drive, we arrived on June 29, 2024, eager to enjoy a week-long stay. Unfortunately, our visit turned into a nightmare within just one hour of our arrival. While setting up our 5th wheel trailer, there was a loud pop followed by smoke pouring out of our TV. Thankfully, my husband was able to unplug it before our trailer caught fire. To our dismay, none of the outlets on one side of our trailer were working, and our TV, microwave, and fan were all fried and non-functional. We immediately contacted an employee who came to our site, inspected the outside meter post by looking at it, not testing it, and nonchalantly stated that since there was no smoke coming from it, the problem must be on our end. When my husband asked for immediate assistance, the employee told us we would have to wait two days, until Monday, and go to a nearby town to find someone to help us. This response was unacceptable and showed a complete lack of concern for our safety. Moreover, the employee had the audacity to shame us by asking if we had a GFI power surge protector plugged into the meter. None of the other RV sites had this, and in our 23+ years of camping, we have never encountered such an issue. Feeling unsafe and unsupported, we decided to pack up and drive the 7.5 hours back home, after being at the site for just one hour. The lack of assistance and options provided by the Buffalo Outdoor Center was disheartening, especially considering we were in a completely different state with no information on what we could do. Upon arriving home, we hooked up our camper at our local campground, and everything worked fine. We also went on another camping trip to a local RV campground, and again, everything worked perfectly. This clearly indicated that the surge was on Buffalo Outdoor Center's end. When we requested a refund, they refunded all but one day. This is unacceptable considering the distress, inconvenience, and financial loss we endured, including having to purchase a new TV, microwave, and fan. Our experience at Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park was nothing short of a disaster. The lack of customer service, concern for our safety, and willingness to provide immediate assistance was appalling. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this RV park to anyone.

ScoutWe took a trip to the Buffalo Point Campground in mid July and it was awesome. Our elementary school age kids as well as the dogs enjoyed the river very much. And some easy hiking was also on our list.
GuideCampsites were great, adequate space between sites. Love the layout of the campground, sites run parallel to the river. My only complain is bathrooms and showers are old and dirty (dirty because they’re old, still cleaned daily) and the shower was barely warm in the fall.

We were raided by some raccoons at one point & we encountered a bear a mile or two down the road, so use caution while camping. It was a very nice experience & I definitely recommend staying here.

We made the best of it. The bathrooms are cleaned daily and the hot showers worked great. I recommend this campground if you’re looking to get away from it all. The hiking trails nearby are great.

GuideThe staff here goes above & beyond! The campsites are close together but the amenities are worth it. Very family friendly. Right on the White River with easy access to the Buffalo River by boat, canoe, or kayak. Pool, playground, small store with essentials, boat rentals, ping pong, & more. Tent sites are mixed with smaller travel trailers. We would definitely recommend reserving a River front site! We rented a boat and explored the Buffalo River - it was very relaxing & amazing views.
ScoutThis is an incredible place to camp. Your camp is where the White River and Buffalo rivers merge. If you enjoy fishing this has some of the best trout and bass fishing in the area. The resort has cabins, full hookup sites , tent sites, pool and play area for the kids. If you like to just float or fish they can help you with what you need. TravelerThis is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees. Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8. The fishing is good. It’s a pet friendly site however if your dogs bark neighbors will complain. The manager is friendly. They do not have trash pick up service; you just take your trash to a dumpster at the end of the camp, which is not a big deal. No grill available but has picnic tables and fire ring. WI-FI aid very good.
TravelerThis is a very small place. They call it a resort for some reason but all it really is... a small piece of land where everything is crammed together. When we got there they couldn’t figure out where they wanted us to set up. We have a 25ft travel trailer. When we first got there the guy was very friendly and helpful that’s the only positive thing about this place.
Back to they couldn’t find us a spot. The first slot was a pull through. Well this doesn’t work because they have two slots together. With both hook ups on the same side. What happens is the camper sets up and had to leave their vehicle out of the way parked else where.. the second camper backs in in front of ur camper blocking your hitch. So both campers are facing the same way the one in back being blocked off.. We said no this will not work for us. If we leave before the person u put in front of us we won’t be able to hook up to our camper. He said good point...
Then he moves us to some spot that’s basically on the road just pushed off to the side. This isn’t even a camp spot. It was just a spot that had a water hose hook up kinda close. He turned the water on it and it came Out looking like mud. I said nope, either find us a reliable spot or refund us our money. Well they don’t refund... so he ended up putting us back in the original spot but up front instead of the back spot. We were ok with this at least we could leave if we chose and wouldn’t be blocked in...
Keep in mind if you go here....when I say it’s a very small, tight, jammed up place... this is not an exaggeration. All the spots are pretty much right next to the other spot. There is no privacy. You leave ur camper your basically on your neighbors spot.
They charge way to much for this place, it’s a rip off. At least for, travel trailers or rvs.
TravelerDogwood Springs in Jasper AR is definitely rustic and unpolished with regard to its setting. RV sites do have full hook-ups although we had an issue with the sewer draining properly on site 31. With only one bath room each for men and women and one shower each as well, they do provide the basics. We had an opportunity to peek into a cabin and we were very impressed with the set up, having a full bath and mini-kitchen. It was well appointed and inviting.
The lay-out of the campground is a bit odd in that some sites are only accessible by driving through another.
The view from site 31 included that of Round top mountain but also vacant, declining commercial buildings near the campground.
Proximity to stores and restaurants in Jasper was handy.

GuideThe owners were very friendly and helped direct us to our site and made sure we got backed in with no issue. It is a ”resort” style campground meaning your parked very close to each other. Considering it’s one of the few, if not only full hook up site in the Jasper area we figured we would give it a shot. There was a review mentioning being blocked in since there 2 campers on one row. That is true that 2 camper share a row, however the owners made it clear that it’s planned out that we wouldn’t be blocked in. They plan a long and a short trailer so there’s plenty of room length wise, the person parked in front of you is also checking out a day before you. On top of all that, there is always room to hookup your truck and leave, it’s just a tight fit and more of a parallel parking situation to get to your hitch. Showers and bathrooms were spotless. I also had very slow draining sewer hookup. I think they’re working on that, they had a plumber on site snaking the drains. Overall absolutely no complaints, it’s exactly how it’s portrayed on sites. Not my typical camping setup but for being a resort style, still was a great trip.
