A gravel road in good condition leads into this free dispersed camping area within Ozark National Forest, where campers drive until they find a spot that works for them. There are no designated sites, no hookups, and no fee. The area sits roughly 40 minutes from Bentonville, making it a workable overnight stop for travelers moving through northwest Arkansas. Verizon users report usable cell signal for phone calls, though Starlink has not worked reliably here.
The road holds up well in dry conditions, but at least one camper notes it would become difficult after rain. A makeshift rock fire ring is in place, and previous visitors have left firewood on occasion. Cleanliness has been generally acceptable, with a small amount of litter reported but not chronic. Fireflies appear after dark in summer, and a sheriff's patrol has been noted passing through in the early morning hours. Nearby, Ozark NF Dispersed near Lake Wedington and Ozark NF Dispersed near Illinois River provide additional dispersed options in the same corridor.
Dogs are welcome and have room to move around without getting into tall grass. The forest also has bike trails worth exploring, as Bud D. notes: "Bike trails are worth using." One reviewer successfully brought a 40-foot bus up the road, suggesting reasonable clearance for larger rigs in dry weather. Campers who pack out their trash and come prepared for a no-frills stay will find this spot functions well for a night or two.
