Absolutely beautiful surroundings

We loved this campground so much we came back a few days later. Nestled in the Dells we had a spot that backed up to the rocks that we were able to easily climb up each night and watch the sunset. The trail behind the campground was wide and clear and easy to walk with the dogs. The spots are private with lots of green in between.

No conversions allowed - RV only

In short, very disappointed with this campground. We originally called and made a reservation to stay at the Point of Rocks RV campground for a weekend in April with no issues. After making the reservation we continued to browse the website and noticed there are a significant number of rules at the campground including not allowing vehicle conversions. This rule was very surprising as we have not previously seen this vehicle discrimination as long as the vehicle is able fit within the campsite size limits. We called back Point of Rocks RV Campground to see if this is in fact a rule; even if one’s converted vehicle is self-contained, i.e. has a toilet, running water, grey water tank etc. We were shocked when we were informed that we cannot in fact stay at the campground because it is an“RV only campground”. The campsite then proceeded to cancel our reservation and charged us$5 for a cancellation fee. I’m disappointed in multiple aspects of this interaction:

1. Only RVs are allowed and no conversions even if they fit within size regulations. This includes but is not limited to vans, buses, and U-Hauls. This seems very unfriendly.

2. At the time of reserving the site the RV only rule was not stated. We unknowing booked a campsite we were not allowed to stay at in our van. There was poor communication of pretty important, however obscure rules.

3. Even though we called back within 5 mins of making our reservation to ask about the conversion rule, we were charged a$5 cancellation fee when the campground cancelled on us. We genuinely feel scammed.

10/10 would not recommend this campground based on our experience. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of 0 is because it does look like it is located on a beautiful lake...

We understand your frustration Kelly and sorry you couldn’t stay with us. As you stated, “after” making a reservation, you browsed our website and discovered our park rules. This probably contributed to your disappointment. Yes, our advertised policy on our rates/rules page informs guests that all RVs must be registered as a recreational vehicle. We feel this is a common practice within the industry for private campgrounds. We respect your honesty by contacting us to discuss the issue, as many attempt to bypass this policy and are greeted with disappointment when they arrive. Since the refund process is automatically processed, our system does deduct a transaction fee with the processing bank. We would be happy to refund you the $5 transaction fee. We have received many compliments regarding the detailed information provided on our website and feel no scam was portrayed since our rules page advertises these policies before booking online or calling us. We wish you happy and safe travels.

Thank you for staying at Point of Rocks, Rob. As you mentioned, we're located next to Watson Lake in the beautiful and unique rock formations of the Granite Dells where you can enjoy many outdoor activities and downtown Prescott is only 5 miles away. We keep our campground as close to natural as possible, so our roads are gravel which can generate some dust; it certainly feels like you're camping and not in a parking lot. We hope to see you next time you're in the area.

We provide Wi-Fi as a free service to our guests. To avoid service interruptions to other guests, we ask that Wi-Fi be used for light web use only. Beautiful location and nicely set up

This is nicely located: you can walk to Lake Watson and miles of hiking, you can bike to the Peavine trail, but you are far from the city and can't easily walk to a store or restaurant. You can rent kayaks through their b2bwild business. The sites vary widely in size and shade level. Some are very private but many are not. Showers and laundry are clean and nice. Usually full on the weekend and quite busy during the week.

Pulling in to the camp ground it wasn’t what I expected. Roads are very narrow and spots are extremely tight. You must have some skill in backing up to get in these spots. Water, electrical, and sewer plus wifi made are available. I would recommend the back campground which is closer to the trail. The positives are how close it is to Watson Lake. You can walk 15 minutes on a trail connecting the two. There is also a kids playground at the Lake and a huge grass area.

The walk to the lake makes this amazing!

The short walk to the stunning lake Watson makes this park a must visit. You’ll feel like you’re in the wilderness of the mountains be able to access trail head just a few steps from your site and yet be a DoorDash call away from pizza at your door. Plus that same walk to lake will bring you to playground and you can even rent kayaks.

Holding back from 5 star review for just two reasons because roads through site were basically dirt making it super dusty when wind picked up making dinners and hanging out outside the camper pretty tough. Plus the laundry facilities were pretty limited in hours for a place with so many sites. Having to do laundry mid-day with last loads in by 2:30 when we were out exploring wasn’t doable for us.

Good Location

A great little campground. VERY VERY VERY clean. Bathrooms and laundry were spotless. We stayed in spot 46A (it was right behind the main office so not a ton of privacy) their upper camping loop looks to have much better views and more private but it was the only spot they had that covered our entire stay in early March 2021

They are in a perfect location for hiking and enjoying Watson Lake. You can get to the trails from the back of the campground. Also close enough to Sedona and the Prescott National Forest for day trips (which we did)

Reservations are only by phone but they are very responsive. They have a contact free check-in/out process.

Again....the place is super clean and well taken care of. The bathrooms were nicer than most hotels.

Loved it here!

They have 2 main loops (“lower park”#1-46 and“upper park”#46A-98) surrounded by Granite Dell rocks. Because sites are located within the rocks, they are unevenly spaced. This makes for a very natural feel, but it also means site quality is very mixed. All sites are basic dirt with full hookups (either 30amp/water/sewer or 50amp/water/sewer) with a picnic table. Some sites are huge, spacious & flat with excellent privacy whereas other sites are small, cramped, and uneven with limited to no privacy. Upper park sites tend to be bigger (in general) than the lower park. Great spot for your furbaby. Lots of good space in most campsite and access to miles of hiking in the Granite Dells right next-door.  The lake is beautiful with all your non-motorized boat fun.  You can even hike around the lake or a nice hike is to go behind the dam.
