In short, very disappointed with this campground. We originally called and made a reservation to stay at the Point of Rocks RV campground for a weekend in April with no issues. After making the reservation we continued to browse the website and noticed there are a significant number of rules at the campground including not allowing vehicle conversions. This rule was very surprising as we have not previously seen this vehicle discrimination as long as the vehicle is able fit within the campsite size limits. We called back Point of Rocks RV Campground to see if this is in fact a rule; even if one’s converted vehicle is self-contained, i.e. has a toilet, running water, grey water tank etc. We were shocked when we were informed that we cannot in fact stay at the campground because it is an“RV only campground”. The campsite then proceeded to cancel our reservation and charged us$5 for a cancellation fee. I’m disappointed in multiple aspects of this interaction:
1. Only RVs are allowed and no conversions even if they fit within size regulations. This includes but is not limited to vans, buses, and U-Hauls. This seems very unfriendly.
2. At the time of reserving the site the RV only rule was not stated. We unknowing booked a campsite we were not allowed to stay at in our van. There was poor communication of pretty important, however obscure rules.
3. Even though we called back within 5 mins of making our reservation to ask about the conversion rule, we were charged a$5 cancellation fee when the campground cancelled on us. We genuinely feel scammed.
10/10 would not recommend this campground based on our experience. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of 0 is because it does look like it is located on a beautiful lake…
