Forest Road 195 Campground is located off the beaten path in a remote, secluded area near Payson. Access requires traveling on FR 195, which branches off from the main road. Be aware that the roads leading to the campground, especially side roads off the main FR 195, are very rough and require careful driving. Vehicles with higher clearance like trucks are better suited for navigating these roads, while lower clearance vehicles will need to proceed very slowly and carefully.

FR 195 Campground offers a primitive camping experience with minimal amenities. The campground provides spacious, quiet sites surrounded by nature. Don't expect facilities like running water, electric hookups, or restrooms. This is a natural setting where you'll enjoy solitude, wildlife, and bird watching. Cell service is very limited, with Verizon reported to have almost no coverage and AT&T/Cricket having no service when traveling from Payson. Come prepared with all necessary supplies.

FR 195 Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. The campground can fill up, particularly on both sides of FR 195, so arriving early is recommended, especially during peak camping seasons. If you find the main sites occupied, be aware that exploring alternative spots on side roads may be difficult due to very rough terrain. Plan accordingly and have backup options in case the campground is full when you arrive.
