These cabins typically include electricity, indoor plumbing, and basic furnishings with varying levels of kitchen facilities. "Very pretty and lots of trees. Camp with all amenities (a bit pricey) or with no hook ups. Lots to do. Family oriented," notes one visitor about Wind Creek. Chewacla State Park also provides cabin rentals with similar amenities, while Lake Martin Recreation Area offers more rustic cabin options with limited facilities but direct lake access.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Wind Creek State Park features furnished cabins that require weekly reservations during peak season for premium waterfront locations. Kick Back Ranch & Event Center and Montgomery South RV Park maintain cabin options with varying amenities and access types. Pets are allowed at most cabin facilities, though policies vary by location. According to a camper who stayed at Wind Creek: "We stayed in the premium waterfront and while there were quite a few other neighbors we felt like we had the place to ourselves."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities range from fully equipped in premium cabins to minimal setups in rustic units. Wind Creek cabins typically include basic cookware and utensils, while more rustic options at places like Weogufka State Forest Flagg Mountain may require campers to bring most supplies. Wind Creek's marina store carries "tons of useful items that you could forget to bring along," according to one reviewer.

      Always a favorite.

We stop here often and love how easy it is to get to from route 80 and not too far from I-65. There are two sections– Catoma Creek and Antioch Loop– both of which are very different. The Catoma Loop is full hook-up (50 and 30 amps) with a nice, level paved driveway and gravel patio. Sites in this loop have more space between campsites so you don’t feel like you are right on top of your neighbor. This loop is more open and less treed but there are a few shade trees. The waterfront sites are really nice with great views of the sunset. The only problem with this section is that it is more desirable and therefore more crowded. The Antioch Loop is the older more dilapidated section of the park. The roads are old concrete that are now full of potholes and loose gravel. The area is heavily treed so there is lots of shade but very little grass in between and around sites. Trees and shrubs have not been trimmed for a long time and overhang the roads and campsites. The sites are gravel with large gravel patios. Many of the sites are not level and have pretty bad slopes to them. Bathrooms are located towards the front of the section so pick your site accordingly if you want to be close to the restrooms. The bathhouse was extremely old and looked like it belonged in a state prison. The doors on the bathroom stalls where falling apart and I needed my shoulder to get out of the stall. This section is very unkept and old– definitely get a site in the Catoma Loop if you can. There is a boat launch, each loop has a playground, and group shelter. Dump stations are located in each loop. Garbage dumpsters are located near the entrance of the park so you either have to drive your garbage or take a fairly long walk. Check in is 4 and check out is 3 so make sure you don’t plan on coming very early as your site may be occupied until 3.

      Absolutely gorgeous! Definitely staying again.

The park was beautiful and well maintained. The sites were big and the prices were low. The only downside was we couldn’t stay longer due to my wife’s allergies and it was too hot. We’ll visit it again during fall or spring when the temperatures allow us to in joy it more.

      Kountry Air RV Park

      Natural & Beautifully Wooded

My husband's job requires constant travel. We stayed here for five weeks for a job in Selma. I absolutely LOVED this campground! GiGi and Don work tirelessly six days a week. If there were 8 days in a week, they would work 7. Beautiful flowers, more trees than I have ever seen in a campground, fenced dog park, seasonal pool, bathrooms with a shower, large laundry room/sitting area at the front of the park, book/DVD swap, second laundry room being renovated at the back of the park, propane filled on site and safe walking within the park (hills). Some road noise but not obnoxious. Will absolutely stay here again if we are in the area.

      Blanton Creek Park Georgia Power

      F. D. Roosevelt camping.

Our stay at F.D. Roosevelt Campground was a mix of beautiful nature and frustrating logistics.

📅 Reservation Issues One of the biggest challenges we experienced was trying to secure a campsite on short notice. The reservation system felt rigid — same-day bookings weren’t available online, which made planning last-minute trips difficult and stressful. The online reads like same day walk ups are non existent.

🚿 Cleanliness of Facilities The bathrooms and showers generally stayed clean and maintained.

💰 Pricing for Tent Camping For tent camping, the nightly rate felt on the high side compared to what you’d expect — particularly if you’re just pitching a basic tent without hookups or extra amenities. We paid $43 per night here for a simple tent stay. It felt a bit steep for what you get unless you’re taking full advantage of the trails, lakes, or historical sites.

🌲 Overall Vibe While the setting is beautiful and there’s plenty to do around the park — from hiking trails to nearby historic spots — the combination of reservation headaches and cost for basic camping made our experience a bit of a mixed bag.

      Montgomery KOA Journey

      Great little KOA

This KOA is just outside Montgomery. It has lot of drive through spots that are very long so perfect for big rigs. They have a few back in spots and some tent spots. They also have a very nice cottages and cabins. They have a laundry facility and clean shower rooms. Plenty on space for your dog to run. It has a large fire ring with lots of chairs around it the main part of the camp but no individual camp rings. Each site has a picnic table. The staff was super friendly and accommodating (we needed a later than 11 check out and they were fine with that). They recently re did the community center where you can watch TV, visit or play games. They offer free coffee, cocoa and tea here in the community center. The have a great walking trail. They have a few full time RVers here but it is clean and quiet and we had no issues. On your drive in the driveway is a bit steep and you’ll need to swing wide to make it in but as long as you know you’ll be fine.

      Gunter Hill

      Overnight at Gunter Hill Cmpgrd

We stayed overnight on site 35. It has full hookups , however the sewer was a bit far from the paring pad. If you have a single black tank hose this may be N issue. However, seeing as we only stayed 1 night I did not plan on hooking up anyway. The site is right across from the bathroom/showers which are individual rather than community type layout , and they were clean and well maintained. For the kiddies there is also a sizable modern playground right next to the bathhouse. The park attendant at the entrance was very pleasant and my pass was ready and available in the rack outside the check-in station which made it extremely easy. It was a Thursday night following 4th of July and there were several others there but only a small number of other campers. Reservations can be made online at recreation.gov

      Chewacla State Park Campground

      Close to Buc-ees and I-85!

I called on Sunday afternoon and immediately connected to a young lady who assured me that a site was available. The loop is nicely designed, full hookups, passing your target on the left (better visibility). There are glamping tents for rent. Several hiking trails, including a waterfall trail are inside the gate checkpoint. The park is close to town, meaning abundance of food options and cheap gas (2.499) on June 6, 2025.

The area maintains moderate humidity with summer temperatures reaching the mid-90s, while winter nights can drop to the low 30s. Cabin accommodations range from basic rustic structures to fully equipped rental units with varying amenities.

    What to do

Fishing access: Lake Martin Recreation Area offers direct lake access for fishing enthusiasts. "This is a military owned campground. With that being said, sure I've been to far better places! But for the price it's totally worth it! You have amazing fishing, and a beautiful lake there!" notes Brendon W.

Swimming at multiple locations: Chewacla State Park Campground provides dedicated swimming areas during warmer months. "We used the swimming area which is close to the camp ground, the lake has a swim platform which has an elevated diving board about 10 to 12 feet high," reports Tony C.

Hiking trails for all levels: Trails at Wind Creek State Park Campground range from 1 to 15 miles with varied terrain. "They have playgrounds throughout the campground, trails from 1 mile long to 15 miles long that can be utilized by horse, bike, or on foot," explains Romeo M.

Historical exploration: The CCC-built structures at Weogufka State Forest offer historical interest beyond standard camping. "Access to southern terminus of the Pinhoti Trail. CCC tower and cabins from 1930's," notes Ro J., making this a unique option among cabin rentals near Tallassee.

    What campers like

Large, level sites: Many cabin and RV sites in the area feature concrete pads with ample room. At Gunter Hill, "Very long and level concrete pad. Great Verizon signal and numerous free digital TV stations to choose from," according to Rick G.

Water access from campsites: Premium waterfront locations provide direct lake access. "We stayed at site 100 it was an excellent site right on the water next to us was like a private beach. This is the only public access to Lake Martin," explains Rachel G. about Wind Creek.

At Chewacla State Park Campground, "We spent two days here and was assigned to site # 10 of the 1st loop. Resort-style amenities: Beyond basic cabins, some locations offer expanded activities. "The sites are nicely spaced out so even if there had been a lot of people there, it wouldn't have felt too crowded. Advance reservations required: Especially for premium cabin locations on weekends and holidays. Seasonal operations: Some cabin facilities have limited winter operations. Wind Creek State Park Campground offers more consistent year-round availability, with one camper noting, "This campground is a better place for the summer not much to do in the winter. It's a place for swimming, fishing, and boat riding."

Mixed experiences at military facilities: Lake Martin Recreation Area receives varied reviews. "This place isn't fancy but it is a military owned campground... And the boat rentals from the place are literally half the price of any civilian rental place!" explains Brendon W.

Full hookup availability: Most cabin campgrounds also accommodate RVs with varying hookup types. At Jackson Lake Towne of Spectre, "Exactly what the Dr ordered.
