      Family Time Campground

Break Out the Family Camping Here!

This little gem is tucked away on the central-eastern side of Alabama, just a 20 or so minute drive from the AL-GA state line, just due south of Columbia, right off the Omusee Creek. Over in these parts you’ll find some solid nature to interact with, trails to hike and of course, all the fun and enjoyment you’d expect being this close to the water.

Let me share a bit about Family Time Campground: there’s a sweet little solar-heated pool that’s perfect for a classic sundowner (and not so great for swimming laps!), plenty of shaded and grassy areas for RV and trailers (22 spots in all), spacious long level lots in a private gated community, filtered water and free rentals, newly finished covered pavilion with about a half dozen brand new picnic tables that has a brand new BBQ, children’s playground, community firepit for s’mores and a fully functioning laundry facility. This RV site has full electrical, water and sewage hook-ups, free WiFi and there’s even a fully-stocked kitchen you can access while on site. For those that aren’t hauling their living room behind them, this property also has (3) bunk houses, (3) cabins, (4) camp rentals and even stationary RV’s for rent.

Insider’s Tip? On Sunday’s this campground offers up "all-you-can eat" pancake breakfast for $4 – you can’t beat this! Of course, there is the famed Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge that apparently people come from all over to see. For a good spot to dine out at, I recommend Log Cabin Restaurant right across the AL-GA state line in nearby Blakely – they’ve got everything you could think of fried, as well as some things that shouldn’t be fried, but taste great regardless! Last tip – if you’re out to kayak or canoe, get out either early or late, as the current during the middle of the day can be quite strong.

      Happy Camping!

      Ozark-Fort Rucker KOA

      Awesome stay

My kids and I absolutely loved it here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did tent “glamping” so we had electric, water and wifi nearby but still enjoyed our time away from concrete buildings. We had a fire pit, picnic table, and parking to ourselves. The pool came in clutch since it is very humid and hot over there. It was nice, CLEAN and refreshing. My kids are not too big so we had enough space to play backyard games not sure there is enough grassy area for older kids or adults. You can walk around and down to the pond and check out the surroundings for added entertainment. The bathrooms and showers were tidy and clean. I really did love it here and based on my experience here I will be looking at other KOA Journeys to visit. My experience is based on a tent site and I’m fairly new to camping. Hope this helps!

      Twin Lakes Camp Resort

      Tight, but very nice

This park is cared for and very nicely executed. The sites all look level (ours was) and the hookups are well placed and maintained. Everything is aesthetically pleasing and done well. The pool and rec room are quite nice and the lakes are fun to paddle around. Our only complaint is the lack of space. Our site was separated from the one next to us by about 10 feet. We look for a more spacious, nature-oriented park, and this was not that at all. No picnic tables, fire rings, or grills-because there’s no room for them on any but a few spots. Nice for a friendly crowd, but not the right place for a peaceful camping experience.

      Twin Lakes Camp Resort

Beautiful, picturesque privately owned and run resort with a camping feel.

A private, gated road leads to level, stamped concrete pads landscaped with red lava rock around 2 lakes with great fishing either on the water or newly renovated or rebuilt piers lighted for night fishing. They have, likely, the nicest shower rooms you'll encounter on the rv trail. A well equipped camp store has everything you need to get by and some things you didn't realize you need ( hello hammock seats that I had to drop $200 on). They have townhouse cabins and glamping yurts as well as a community center, pool, and laundry room. Full hookups and Wi-Fi. Sites not located on the waterfront are elevated so they still have a water view. Since buying this resort a few years ago, the new owners have poured their hearts and souls into updating this resort into a next level haven for the new generation of the rv lifestyle.

Blue Hole Campground — Florida Caverns State Park

      Caverns and Lagoon

We were placed on the equestrian site with zero privacy. Never saw the other primitive sites, I guess they were full. Bathrooms were clean and the property was well maintain and far from the highway. Cavern tour was great but we loved the paddle through Blue Lagoon. Bring your kayak or rent one there, it's definitely worth it!

      Vortex Spring

      Horrible Camping Amenities

Absolutely horrible service. They mostly cater to divers. The fire pits are full of trash, bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in years, and we didn't even have a picnic table at our site. We told them yesterday after we checked in and they said they would have someone bring one out. It's day two and still don't have one. Campground store employees are very rude and no help at all. We are not snobs by any means but we will never come back here. Absolutely worst place we have stayed at yet in our teardrop camper.

Blue Hole Campground — Florida Caverns State Park

      Great!

Great tent campground. Lots of privacy. Water spikes and grill and picnic table on site. The bath house was pretty clean though the shower head wasnt great. They were really close to the tent sites though. There's also a swimming hole right across the street from the tent sites which was also really nice! The caverns were beautiful. Will definitely go back!
